Vintage Maintainers, Saturday Thread
Good morning Happy Weekenders,
We had a nice day yesterday in spite of my relapsing cold. I met Bob and Vicki at an East Village Italian joint for a very nice soup-to-nuts dinner. Then we saw the revival of Larry Kramer's THE NORMAL HEART which was friggen BRILLIANT in spite of my memories of the adorable Brad Davis (Midnight Express) in the lead before he died of AIDS...<sigh>. Everybody cried; quite cathartic to go through all the early days of Aids and the horrible fear of the unknown and the nincompoop in the White House who refused to mention the name of the disease or spend a penny while millions of "perverts" died in our major cities. Barbara Streisand has owned the movie rights for 20 years and may EVENTUALLY make the movie. Word is the show will move to Broadway! Linda, I'll bet you HATE the fake pasta with the store-bought sauce! Is that the purple pasta (Jerusalem artichoke flour I believe?) Susan, I'd love to help in any way I can....my e-mail box is open (to anything but HUGE attatchments.) Barb....I only saw one humminbird in my whole life....on Fire Island. They are MAGNIFICENT birds! Queen Mary fiddling the Katie Couric (and many celebrities) overnighter and due back in today and out tomorrow. I'll try to spot her- Camera Ready Captain!!! Aye Aye! To all a happpy day!

Good morning Roger and all who follow.
It's about time you finally got to see a really good show. I can only imagine the emotion everyone felt seeing something so moving and tragic. Do you think a movie would do it justice? The pasta may be ok. http://www.mendosa.com/dreamfields_pasta.htm Hopefully this site's sponsor will carry it. Netrition is excellent and very fast shipping things. Their prices are really good too. We used to order liquid splenda from them until the darn manufacturer stopped providing it for resale. If we ordered it on a Sunday night, the UPS truck would pull up on Tuesday. Amazing. Picked up the sauce at the wonderful, family owned, OLD, Italian place yesterday. It's by far the best I have ever had. It's one of the reasons I got FAT. LOL Gerard found a site giving the migration patterns of hummingbirds, but I didn't save it. Darn it! In the summer we have the feeder full of sugar water and get many little visitors. What little pigs! They can empty that thing really fast. If you and Bob come for a visit sometime this spring or summer, you can sit on the deck and watch them. Oh and the babies look like GIANT bees. Looking forward to a picture of her Majesty. I'm missing our MIA's and hope they are having fun with relatives, friends and gardens. Back later. Hi Y'all
.....fun to get away, but glad to be home now.(except to face the 1/2 ft. of lawn growth! ) ![]() This is an "approach" to the Beach at Ocean Park WA. A tiny fresh water stream running to the sea....and we spotted this Bald Eagle in it! (middle of pic) ![]() Here's a view overlooking one of our fave spots to picnic/play when brats were young...near Long Beach WA. ![]() We took the travel trailer. Our RV Park had all the amenities, down to cable tv hook-up, which made Bob happy. ![]() HI to all, more later to catch up. ShawneeI'll take the BAGGED Baby Spinach over the fresh, big-leaf dirty stuff. I dig to the back of the display to get the best expiration dates. |

Good Saturday Friends!
The Sun is shining up here today, a little cool but we'll take it. Got mega chores to do today! Gosh where to start!I should also write a speech for TMs on Monday night, thinking of cancelling out. Also have the FAQs to do. I easily get overwhelmed. Roger, Thank you so much for the offer to help with the written word. I greatly appreciate this.Sorry to hear the cold is relapsing. Take two Vit C, fresh air, sunshine, rest and call me in the morning is my script! IMHO LOL! Hope to see a pic posted soon of the Big Boat and those Celebs. Katie has a good intention 5Million for colo-rectal Ca research. Those stories of the early days of HIV/AIDS do need re-telling. DH and I get so emotional though! Hope Barbara does make a movie. Tends to reach those that need educating that gay guys are not perverts! Linda, Wow a site for Hummingbird migration sounds delightful watching them. Gotta get DH into a summer project, so that sounds like a plan. An alternative to Soccer!!!!That home made sauce sounds so delicious, gotta get my mind on other things! Like the Saturday chores, good for physical activity and cathartic I guess!DD and her DH are going for a professional photo shoot this aft as a Pregnant Couple, showing the belly. She sure wants to remember that she was pregnant once! I am fursitting her dog. The Dali Lama is in town and has a large meeting close to where the photographer's shop is, so they may be delayed due to the traffic. He is up here to meet with our Prime Minister about Human Rights in China-Tibet etc.... Wishing Y'all a Wonderful Saturday! Keep the Water, Activity and LC's comin! SuSUN! ![]() |

HI to all
Glad to have you back Shawnee with pictures too. What a gorgeous restful looking place to picnic. Guess you two put that new truck to the test. Who was driving and pulling that camper? Thanks for the comment on the spinach. LOL Nice to go away for a while but so nice to get back home. Glad you had a safe trip. Zip glad to hear that you had a NICE day. Dinner, great show, friends, just a wonderful time despite that tail end of the cold. Do you think the Puritans will have just a good a sale after this catalog expires? Give me some advice here. Seems like they always have some sort of sale going on. Linda I'm surprised that you or Gerard don't make you own sauce. I use to make mine and cook it for 4 hours. I have pared down some now and use a different recipe and only cook it for an hour or so. I really don't notice that much of a difference. You must have liked the pasta. ok means I probably would not try it again. ok I can get with cabbage. Hope the company is not wearing our Dock Goddess out. Hi to SuSUN, Jackie, Mommy, Pam, Ginny, Julie. A quiet weekend for us in the offing. Rain, rain, rain in the forecast. Will probably get buried in a book, maybe 2. May pull some weeds if the sun comes out for a while. Loretta |

Hi Loretta,
My current catalogue is the BUY ONE, GET 2 FREE and it runs through May 5. My experience is that it will be followed by a less generous offer for the next 60 days but then the Good sale will be repeated. They seem to run the 3 for 1 twice a year. Why not place your order this week? The offer WON'T get better, but if you have enough to tide you over for 2 or 3 months wait til the next round (maybe they'll have a coupon special, who knows?) I don't need anything for awhile and my most expensive item (CoQ-10) is cheapest at BJ's. |

I might just wait Zip. The last good sale was over Sept 5th. That was about 8 months ago. I think I will walk on the wild side and wait.
I have 4 14 oz lecithins and about 2 of my panthoenic acids. (100 caps in a bottle I take that 2x a day.) At least 2 months supply. Thanks for your input on it. |

Welcome home Shawnee
It's good to see you back with us. Love the pictures. What an awesome place. Now you have to tell us all about your trip . Did you two get your clams and did you fish? Susan, been doing chores myself all day and still have several hrs worth yet to finish. How nice that your DD will have a "before" mommy picture taken. So how much weight has she gained? Lordy I gained at least 50 with each of mine. The sauce isn't home made. Well Gerard has some of his made and so we will have a choice. Loretta, so care to share your sauce recipe? This one I bought is from a small, family operated place that's been in business for over 60 years. There sauce is the most heavenly stuff I ever had. So incredibly unique and absolutely delicious LOL I used to love their home made pasta far too much, but I haven't tried this new low carb stuff yet. Tomorrow will be a first and I'll let you know. So what are you reading? Oh here is the link to the humming birds. Lot's of info to keep you busy if you are so inclined. http://www.hummingbirds.net/ We have a picture someplace of several at our feeder. If I find them, I'll post one. Dryer just stopped so gotta run. Ginny, are you out there? Bet you are tired out from that company. Waving to Barb, Annie, Pam, Dragon and lurkers.
