Newly pregnant and need menus! (plus a few questions)
I just found out I'm pregnant! I want to stay low carb, but need a little help. I've read on this board that I need to add in fruits, grains and more veggies. If you eat fruits by themselves as snacks will it cause a rise in insulin? How much fruit is necessary?
Also, I don't understand why grains need to be added in. Even whole grains don't seem to have a lot of nutritional value and it seems those carbs would be better spent on fruits or veggies. For instance, I think I would be better off adding a grapefruit to my usual breakfast shake (low carb milk with 1/2 scoop protein powder) rather than a bowl of oatmeal or a piece of whole wheat bread. What do you think? Is Davinci syrup ok during pregnancy? I go through about a bottle a week in my decaf. Please, please share your menus with me. Last edited by BayAreaGal : 03-17-2004 at 07:31 PM. |

Also, I've heard that flaxseed oil is dangerous for pregnant women. Is this true?
