Last Tuesday of Winter

Good Morning All,

For those of you counting off the minutes, Spring will arrive at 1:49 AM EST on Saturday, March 20. I think we should all be planning some pagan bacchanalia... (really GOOD Pagan bacchanalia is frowned on in New Jersey, but after-hours in the CITY, well, you can find ANYTHING....I'm thinkng of something involving virgins, chickens, red paint and lots of K-Y(at least the chickens should be easy to find)....I think howling into the night sky is part of the ritual.

My mom's Chicken Cacciatori was the BEST I've ever had. I tried it a couple times (mucho worko) but the peanut gallery was cool on the idea so I didn't repeat it. Maybe I'll give it another shot (You-know-who can like it or lump it...He LOVES pasta but doesn't like elbow maccroni except in Mac and Cheese...isn't that NUTS?) Anyway her recipe involven slow pan roasting of chicken breasts in some olive oil and onions...when done and still hot, strip off all the meat and discard bone and skin. Cook with canned whole plum tomatoes roughly chopped into about eighths with plenty of canned (or fresh if you're rich) mushrooms....basil, oregano. When near done, toss with lots of half cooked elbow macaroni (or Dittalini if you choose) and cook til pasta is finally done....YUMMM!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA!

No snow yet but a gray 35°...soon though, the dark green on the Weather map looks only MINUTES away(covering Newark already!)

Bob is doing a New York Day and I'll do a BIG GYM muscle day! I LOVE sitting at the pool in a lounge and watching snow fall (Pool is covered by a block-long glass dome about 50 feet high! Freezer is full so I can be snowbound for 2 months and STILL fatten up!

I LOVED the Mount St. Helens blast....along with the WTC, Three-Mile Island and the San Francisco World Series Quake...the most interesting events of my life. If I lived in the Northwest, I'd have been half way up the mountain when she blew her top.....OY!

Linda, Annie....Let's go build a snowman.

My new GOOGLE tip: Presumably we all have set up our Internet Explorer to do a Google search from anything typed into the Adress Bar. Well if you type the phrase:
define whatever
you will get the dictionary definition of the word "whatever" as the first entry. How KEWL is that!

Later

Good morning Zip, the Birthday Girl, and the rest to follow!!

That chicken does sound good Zip, but maybe cabbage noodles in place of pasta for me. Our moms took time to cook back then -- not the "fast food" generation we have now.

Count me in on that pagan bash -- I'll bring the chickens!!

Speaking of virgins :this isn't funny, but, yesterday I found out that one of the freshmen girls went to the doctor for strep and the doctor said -- you know you are 5 months preg. right? One of the seniors is the proud daddy! I am no longer surprised at anything except some pregnant girls in the Middle School!!

So Jacki, are you still cookin' up a storm?

Shawnee, you have the BEST yard? I suppose you live in the moist temp. ---- I'm ready to put rocks into mine and give up watering.

Birthday girl -- what are you doing today to celebrate this wonderful event?

Linda, do you have your mom all moved in? It must not bother you to have so many relatives at such close range! I'm happy to have MOST of mine across the country!!

Later...... running off to work, I have two more days until SPRING BREAK!!

Good Morning,

Roger,
Gerard uses whole chicken thighs and breasts for his cacciatore along with olive oil, onions, mushrooms Bay leaves, and other spices but no pasta.. I MUST get him to write down the recipe. He just wings it.

We have some red paint around here that I'll contribute to the pagan ritual. Do you want some howling coyotes too?

Barb, not much surprises me anymore either. Even the thought of a pregnant 10 year old.

Mom is not going to get her keys until Friday so we will start moving her kitchen stuff, clothes, etc in over the following few days. Movers will be there on the 25th to get the furniture.

It's off to work for me but I don't think I'll be doing the entire 8 hrs. We were supposed to have a St. Pat's Day dance this evening for the entire facility but with this snow, I don't think it will happen. We have to "walk" the patients over to another Bldg with a large gym where the dances are held, but they will cancel ground privileges. YIPPEE!! I HATE these 8 hr. days.

Later gang.

Morning Everyone!

Happy Belated birthday to Barb! Oops, I'm bad for missing that stuff, but glad your weekend was great and the actual day too.

Happy Birthday to Loretta! This one I got right Any special plans? Don't forget to use that firm voice with Spot--glad he's starting to sit for you!

All is well here. The bathroom now has a door! Took DH a while to get that sucker framed in, but it's there now. The sun is shining, and looks to be a pretty day.

Linda, I've been trying to get that nice weather your way, but it isn't listening! Oh, and we are about 4 hours out of Sevierville. That is gorgeous country there, and you will most likely enjoy it very much. It would be really fun to meet y'all--what weekend is it in Sept? We have an orchid show the weekend of the 17th in Nashville and will have to be there the whole time it's open.

Zip, too bad about the mini-vac cancelled! But, hopefully within these 2 weeks you'll be able to make a road trip SOMEWHERE! I just can't imagine living without a vehicle!

Shawnee, years ago my DMIL went on vacation with some friends to the World's Fair in BC and they went to Mt. St. Helen's on that trip too. I have a small ceramic type box made from the ash. She said it was just amazing the force of what it did. I can't imagine how scary that would have been! THose pics are gorgeous!

Jacki, so when are you and Shawnee going to enter the garden contest? We wanna see! The head cook still is out? What happened to her? Are you having to cover again and do that EARLY morning thing?

Julie, don't worry about spending so much time on the 'puter...when it gets nice out, that will change!

Cali, ick yuck on the sneaux. I know y'all up there will sure be glad for spring to really show up! We have buttercups and crocus in bloom now, along with Lenten Roses (have been in bloom for a while) and our magnolias are getting really pretty! Won't be long and the Bradford Pears will burst open! Woohoo! Trying to blow some warm air your way, along with Linda and Zip!

Well, I think I've got everyone, but if not just smack me upside the head... it is early yet for me! Off to lurk for a bit.....

Home from work early because the dance was canceled until next week, and I'm off next week. YIPPIE!! The roads are a total mess with lots of accidents. Damned people have two weeks of nice weather and forget how to drive in this stuff.

Loretta, Leah is such a beautiful little doll. Thanks for sharing. Is she good and does she sleep all night?

Enjoy your lunch and dinner out.

Ginny, We will be in Tenn. the weekend of the 25th of June for that lc pig roast and spend a few days looking around the area and checking out real estate. I bet it's pricey though since it's a resort area.

Wow you have a bathroom door? Is the plumbing all hooked up too? How about some more pictures of that project and the kitchen.

Jackie, yeah what's up with the head cook?

Julie, are you going to post something other than~~~~~Hi~~~~ today? LOL there is nothing wrong with spending time on the computer. Think of all we learn.

Roger, I tried that tip and wow!! It really does zero in on a topic.

Susan, what are you up to?

Annie, so how much snow do you have right now? We have maybe 6", and it's still coming down.

Dinner is all ready. I made a crock pot roast with guar gum gravy last night and added a bunch of vegetables, so all I have to do is nuke it.

Just got home.

Gym today: Legs and Back. Man, I hate to work legs, however probably get the more benefit from working legs as compared to any other bodypart.

Martha just told me I'm in charge of meat for tonight. It will be grilled chicken w/ bar-b-que sauce.

I still need to do my walking for today.. I'm really tired and we have to go to a church function tonight. I may have to double up on the walking tomorrow.

Got to go thaw the chicken.

Later,

Ray

Hi Gang!

Just checking in to let you know I am still around and kicking, albeit a tad slower and deeper in thought these days. Just coming to terms with it all and thinking about a plan of action, aggressive or mild????????

Have to work tomorrow and Thursday, then off Friday to pack for Florida.

Linda,
Yikes on the snow dump! Glad you have next week off.
I will try to check in from down South. I have not signed up for yahoo yet. Was that the one you told me to use?

Loretta,
LEAH IS SO ADORABLE! LOVE THAT PIC! I am just going to copy and send to DD. She is 6 months PG tomorrow!
Praise the Lord!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORETTA!!!!

Ray,
Wow, Good for you, in charge of the meat...bringing home the bacon and all that eh?
Great, working those legs, lots of large muscle groups there!
Thanks for the nudge and reminder!

Barb,
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Hope you spent some time doing stuff you like! Yikes, on the PG freshman, they dont seem to get it...what causes it that is! I have many single PG young women in my groups.

Ginny,
I HEAR YOU WON A "DOOR PRIZE!" LOL! Good for you that you can finish your projects.
LOVE the Robin Williams "speech."

Roger,
We could transport ourselves to Stonehenge for the Pagen ritual those old stones need a coat of paint. A few floral head chains will top us all off nicely! Excellent idea! ummm! I wonder if we could get Concord to fly again?
That Chicken sounds mouth-waterin good!

Shawnne,
Seems I have to go back a day or too to see your Pics! I bet they are breathtaking.

Waving to Y'all!
