Saturday, the Thirteenth

Good morning all,
Since I awoke at 4:50 that usually means ONE THING- a WHOOSH. I ran to the scale and there it was: down 13 this year....WITH some gym muscle...see, it's possible at for old fartes to add muscle (but with GREAT difficulty.)

Susan,
Of course you had me at the GREAT GOOGLER before 5 AM.
Quote:
Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) is an uncommon condition where benign (non-cancer) change is seen within the lobules of the breast.

The lobes or lobules are the milk-producing glands that cluster like bunches of grapes at the far end of the milk ducts in the breast. Under a microscope, normal lobes look empty. When a number of the lobes appear crowded with cells, the condition is called lobular carcinoma in situ.

Although the term 'carcinoma in situ' can arouse anxiety and thoughts of cancer, LCIS is considered a benign condition that does not usually require treatment. There are a number of reasons for this. The multiple cells in the lobes are regular in shape, unlike cancer cells. In addition, the cells are confined to the lobes ('in situ' means in place). However, long-term follow-up is recommended after a diagnosis of LCIS.
I guess the operative word is BENIGN ....but WHY the scary word, "carcinoma." The mere word is guaranteed to fill a pair of underpants!
See, ain't I sweet; now nobody has to Google!

Barb,
I usually marinate salmon in Mojo Criolla...it's a common Hispanic marinade...like vinegary, garlicky, orange juice...cheap and good (GOYA brand is best.)

Ray,
I'm with you on the leg workout...I did Leg extensions and curls yesterday (after 25 minutes on the BIKE at 128 BPM aerobic AND a full chest workout) and had a hard time walking a straight line to the steam room....feels good today though!

Loretta,
Your crochet work is beautiful.

Gas Prices: gee, you'd think these oil companies had friends in high places...seems like price fixing to me, after all we're in a severe economic downturn, it's certainly not supply and demand raising the prices! Write your Congressman and Senator.

I NEED COFFEE.....Later, Gaters.

Hello to everyone and enjoy your weekend (theater for me this afternoon....Sushi Dinner!)

Zip is the world champ Googler!!

Sounds like reassuring info for you Susan. (((Susan))) I'd be anxiety ridden for sure with the terminology (sp). Susan, how is that grbaby nursery coming along?

Loretta, very nice crochet work. I like those kind of kitchen towels too.

Today is more yard work for me. Rain will be coming in beginning tomorrow. I have to get the tight spots mown and then give the yard a shorter cutting. Also, get that Scarlet Curls willow in the ground. Yesterday at work the school staff gave me a new rose bush as a sympathy gift. I looked it up and it is going to be a beautiful continuous blooming garden rose.

Now, where to put that?? I think by the front gate. Will look so pretty and welcoming. Also have to get the other perrenials I bought into the ground. Have to fit a 12:30 haircut into it all too.

Tonight casual dinner at a friends house.

Hope y'all have a good day.

Good Morning Magnificient Ones!

Trying hard not to think about yesterday's diagnosis meeting with the Doc. It did illicit the old Anxiety! Yes, the word Carcinoma is a scarey. He said at least I know now and can modify my lifestyle and take Tamoxifen if I decide after reading the side effects.

Presently, it is a benign condition but is kind of like a marker to signify a pre-cancerous state. He said I am at twice the risk of the general population of developing Breast Ca in my lifetime. I believe that is around 22%, it is quite significant but I am hopefully going to follow their healthy lifestyle info and hopefully reverse my situation, not sure if I can or not.

Here it is below, from memory:-
No smoking, I never have, No drinking, I only have an occassional glass of red wine. No Pesticide use, cleaning products, WAIT FOR IT....low-fat diet with lots of fruit and veggies for the antioxidants.

Glad my weight is not high, as obesity is another risk factor, re: the fat cells produce more estrogen to fuel the growth of cancer. Increasing Physical Activity, avoiding car exhaust fumes....I think this is the list to modify my lifestyle.

I have not told DD. I will tell her after her baby is safely delivered.
Only one more week to FLA! I will probably get some serious baby clothes/things shopping done while I am down there. Boosting the Economy!

DD has bought all the baby furniture on line too from across the border so more Economy boost for you guys! She has indicated a Silver Cross pram/stroller that DH and I will probably buy for her that too is online in US funds. I will try to get all the sites to share with you. She has sent them in the past, not much of a file/save person.

I turned the puter off last night, complete shut down and unplugged the pwr, dsl, and enet. I started up this morning all is fixed whatever was up. DSIL told me to take it over to him tonight not sure if it needs an overhaul now. I guess it cant hurt him checking it out.

Wavin to Y'all! Glad I have this lifeline will just be tweekin this Low Carb lifestyle just a tad.

SuSUN!

Hi to all

Thanks Zip for the research on Susan's dx. That is more reassuring. But I myself would not be able to be worry free.
Congrats on the 13 pounds gone, hopefully for good. I hope they don't resurrect.

Cali (((((HUG))))) to you and your DD. Did the pup get into it by accident or do you suspect foul play? So sorry for all your DD is having to go through.

Susan glad you finally got a dx and now you can set your course. Hard for you to change your lifestyle because you are not abusing it as it is. My step daughters avoid caffiene because of the breast problems their mom had. Did they give you more healthy alternatives besides the no smoking, no drinking and dietary regime? How long would you have to take the drug?

Jackie your yard is going to be ready for the competion with Shawnees. You gals are so ambitious. Maybe once our weather warms up a little more I'll be ready for the challange.
I'd rather be working on inside sewing projects and quilting.

l8ter g8ters.

Loretta

Surprise, surprise, I'm here before midnight!! LOL

Roger, hey good going on losing the 13 lbs. Doing good!!
I Google a lot too but you beat me to it. I was too tired last night. Good research and thanks for the comforting news. I was scared for her.

SuSun, I know it's not the best news but it did sound like cancer so maybe with it being pre-pre cancer, you can do all you can to prevent further cell changes. All those lifestyle changes are good for all of us. I would think no caffiene would be on that list as well Jackie.
Glad the puter seems to be fixed.

Jackie, beautiful rose you got. Do you spray your roses for mildew and black spot? A few years ago I decided to quit that but my roses don't look as good now. I tried the soap spray but doesn't work as well. My 15 roses are surviving but not as pretty now.

Cali, so sorry sweetie. Will be keeping you and the family in our Losing a pet is so very hard.

Loretta, so whats up with you today?
I had posted last night but maybe no of you were up that late. LOL

Hi to all the rest to follow...

Hey everyone,

Pretty and sunny out today for us. Gave the 'chids a good watering/feeding and will go back into the gh shortly to check phal crowns (can't leave standing water in them or they will rot). DH is out there on the tractor putting the rock into the field lines. The end is near for that project!!!

Cali, (((HUGS))) to you and your DD! So sorry about her pup! It is so hard to lose a furkid. There is one kind of antifreeze out there that is not toxic to animals, but not sure what the brand is. For the rest of it, we all have to be so careful since it is sweet smelling and animals are attracted to it.

Loretta, maybe one of these days I'll get my crochet hook out and see what kind of damage I can do to some towels. I'm not really crafty ambitious, so don't anyone hold their breath! DH has really enjoyed his quilt this year, and it's a permanent resident on HIS side of the couch

Zip, congrats on the 13! WTG! Yesterday morning I was 1 1/2 lbs under my sig weight...maybe I'll get back to 120, but don't know how well my body will like maintaining that weight after so long at 125. If I stay away from the no-no's I can do it, but I sure do enjoy eating

Sensei, we get our beef really cheap...we used to raise cows! It's some of the best beef you can eat, and that way you know what it's been fed--no steroids or other nasties! We still have 2 calves coming to us whenever we need them, so we're well set. Then we'll just buy a calf to raise up as needed. Love living in the country! Find you a farmer and get your beef that way. You even get to choose how it's cut, and the hamburger meat requires no draining once it's cooked!

Julie, I gave up on roses. Around here they require way too much maintenance and spraying, and once they get to be blooming the dang Japanese Beetles wear them out. So, I just gave up on them. I had quite a few, but they never did really well for me. Anymore, if it's outside it has to be pretty self sufficient. The daylilies are up about a foot now, sure hope we don't get a hard freeze to nip them back.

Jacki, how sweet they gave you that rose! I bet y'all have great luck growing roses with all your rainfall. Have fun digging in the dirt We have a couple beds in dire need of revamping this spring. Some plants in there I want to keep, so I have to wait until things are up. Do you have any magnolias? Ours are fixing to bloom (the shrub type).

Susan, so glad to hear it's not cancerous! Just have to keep an eye on it and make the decision of you want to take the meds. You really don't have much to 'clean up' in your lifestyle, so any adjustments will probably be fairly easy. Heck, if you can get off the carb wagon, you can do ANYTHING!!! (((HUGS))) your way!

Well, everyone, I reckon I better go lurk for just a bit, then get back in the gh for my stress relief

Off to DD's for supper!

Thanks for allowing me to share my problem with you Guys!

Ginny,
That's another lifestyle modification Stress Relief, I had better run out and buy a GH!
Yep, they also mentioned the hormone fed animal products, beef, chicken etc...even Fish with the PCBs and Mercury! OY what is a Gal surposed to eat? LOL!
Good you were able to eat your own produce.

Julie,
Thanks for the tips on Caffiene, not sure how much I have to limit it. I dont drink Coffee regularly, but I do drink tea, which has less mgs of caffiene than brewed coffee, so I may have to find an alternative to some of the hot tea! I just have one coffee at work on my work days! I could drop that to half decafe!

Cali,
Awwwh, No, that poor PUP! Sending positive thoughts to lift your DD as she goes thru this and her other stuff. Moms do share in their children's pain!

Roger,
Thanks for the Google explanation. I did have reams of info from the Clinic and also from work. It is comforting to see it is benign, even though it says carcinoma. I am just thinking pre-cancerous right now, so at least I have the heads up!
CONGRATS ON THOSE 13LBS WTG!!!

Gotta get ready!

Roger, it's wonderful that you got that whoosh and are down 13 lbs. Way to go guy!!

Jackie, hope you enjoyed that dinner with your friends.

Susan, do your research and be well armed before you make any decision. There is an article someplace that talks about sugar feeding cancer. I'll see if I can find it and post the link here.

Annie, I'm so very sorry about the pup. How on earth did that happen?

Loretta, so you are still cold there too? It's only 18 degrees here right now. God, spring will never arrive.

Julie, keep us posted on how your DGS is doing. The poor kid. My heart goes out to him.

Ginny, we used to get beef from a local farmer but it's not available any longer. We are still looking though.

Waving to everyone else. Been busy with my daughter out of town. We are "babysitting" Dakota pup for the night.

See you all tomorrow, hopefully.
