Wednesday, the too manyith

Good Morning Kiddee Kiddies,

Owww, on the water retention and the fingers (Indian Food last night followed by microwave popcorn- A SALT MINE. I've already popped an HCTZ (diuretic) and I'll be a worthy centerpiece in an Italian fountain in about 2 hours.

Shawnee,
If you check in before hauling the computer back, the major problem with new XP users is the conflict with OLD peripherals (no, not US silly.) Like printers and scanners and bears, Oh my!

Linda the "happy day" is the 31st for me....I'll DRINK to that...and DRINK...and DRINK.

Oh yesterday was a bANKING nightmare. ASTORIA (Queens) wouldn't take the Cashier's checks because they were too OLD (over 6 months.) My stomach immediately crashed to the ground because the two checks total nearly 40K. Had to go back to Manhattan and get new checks. Got the Emigrant reissued after a battle with the banks manager (because I no longer had any account with them)and AGAIN, the final threat "GIVE ME CASH" was all that worked. I STILL need to do the same with M&K and then go back to QUEENS.....all this is a cold drizzle! What a miserable day!

Friend in Berkely Heights (NJ suburban town....pretty) complained about high taxes, they are looking in Florida this week. Small 3 BR ranch....$9000/yr with a raise in the works this this year.

So Susan, say HELLO if you run into them (is EVERYBODY) going to Florida...another steamroom acquaintance (Venezuelan) said he's had enough COLD and he's moving in April....you guessed it, FLORIDA!)

"Waaaaah Ricky, I wanna go to Florida.....Fred and Ethel can come too! "

Bob working, Roger working out, and PHONECIA BLOOMING!

HAVA Day everybody!

Good morning all.....

You all are going to bed as I'm getting up!!

Been back at work this week and busy!! Tired!! You would NOT believe how early I go to bed!

Jacki, heart goes out to you -- it's difficult, this week is also my dad's first anniversary and I still miss him and always will.

Got warm here! Sunbathing time!

NOOOOOO -- not EVERYONE has moved to Florida, we are all here!

On this side of the country, people head to the southern shores of Texas.

Waving to everyone as I run to work.

Roger, phonecia is lovely even without the 36 or so blooms.

Why do banks refuse to cash a perfectly good cashier's check even if it is more than 6 months old? It makes no sense.

Fla. is nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. It's so crowded and traffic is a nightmare especially with those 80 some year olds driving. My youngest son lived there for a few years near Naples and could walk to the grocery store faster than he could drive there.

So Barb, what time do you go to bed?

Don't work too hard.

I'm off to work in a few minutes and really, really don't want to go. Woke up after only 4 hrs sleep with a really dry mouth and couldn't get back to sleep. Guess I'll have to get the duct tape out tonight.

Waving to everyone else.

Goodness Gracious Zip!! That's a load of cash for them to be jerking you around with!! I'm so glad you got your money.
Beautiful orchid...I hope the others open before you freeze.

Yesterday I came home with a Scarlet Curls Willow bought by my friend as a rememberance of my dad. I also bought some painted daisies and daylilies.

Here is a couple pics. One was taken Feb 17th (Dad's last 'good' day) That's Mom, Dad and DD Brandi with Sadie under his legs. The other is his dog Sadie.

Mornin' gang,

Still a little brain foggy, so hope this makes sense! Not a whole lot new today, but DH did some massive rearranging in the gh yesterday to organize and create more plant space. Looks great and will be easy to water out there once I get used to who is where now LOL. I had a set pattern on watering and could go through QUICK if I needed to, now I will have to think as I water and make sure I get everyone that needs it We have a cold snap going on once again down in the lower 30's at night, so heavy jacket but at least not coveralls. I will be so glad when spring is finally here to stay!

Zip, Phonecia looks good! What a shame that she blasted so much, but heating is a requirement during the winter! There are some fall blooming phals you may want to try that will be good for the non-heating season. One is phal violacea--a species that is extremely fragrant (heavenly!) and blooms in the summer/fall. Not a big spray like the 'traditional' phals, but sequentially. Excellent plant! on your cost of living!

Jacki, great pics of your dad and the pup! She will be a little lost for a while, but since she has the rest of her family she should adjust ok.

Shawnee, good luck getting the 'puter changed out. Wonder what it's problem was? I dread the thought of learning a new system, but this one is getting old and who knows how long it will last us!

Barb, no FL vacations for us either! We take ours in the summer if we are going somewhere and it's ususally orchid or family related. Since DH's family is still in MN and mine is in NC (with some extended in WI) we don't do much travelling during the winter. FIL lived in south Texas--visited him there once. Don't much care for TX!

Linda, I reckon the only downside to TN is higher pollen counts. There is such a good bloom season here and so many different plants that there's lots going on. We also have a good annual rainfall which contributes to growing so much. Do check us out tho! Hope work goes smoothly!

Loretta, where did you find the gorgeous orange crocus? I haven't seen that shade! Ours are purple and white here, and some yellows I've seen. Have you seen any of the shrub magnolias blooming yet? Ours are starting!

Susan, I second Linda's suggestion on the two wheeler! They make some very light aluminum ones that you could use for your hauling around. I bet you're very ready to go on vac! Counting the days, are we

Sensei, welcome to our crazy little world! Do tell us about yourself, and we'll let you have opinions here too We're really a pretty friendly bunch and talk about all aspects of life, so don't worry about it!

Julie, Pam, Cali and all, hope all is well!

HI to all

Thanks for the pics Jackie. Is that the hat your dad is wearing that got put in the museum? Your dd is beautiful. Sadie seems right at home there under your dad's feet in the wheel chair.

Too bad about the bank and those cashiers checks, Zip. That sure caused you a lot of needless running all over town. Phonecia's flower is beautiful. What a joy. I'm not planning on moving to Fla. Forget that. I like the change of seasons, even if I do complain. I am busy being happy where I am planted.

Barb it stands to reason that you are tired after that surgery and all. Your body is busy rebuilding that tissue. I probably go to bed very early too. Sometimes before 9. I might read for a little while before going to sleep if I can stay awake long enough. Bet you are up early too.

Linda will you work now that your contract is renewed. What about after the winter, can you continue on just in the fair weather months? I bet you could. The medical field is short handed for sure. Thanks for the cookie recipe. I'll give it a try.

I got involved in a towel sewing project for DIL yesterday. SHe wants a hand towel for the kithchen that you can hang on a knob or the fridge. She had one that someone made and wanted something like that. I followed the pattern and got an acceptable
usable item from it. It takes me a while since I need to make a prototype model first. Well all right 2 prototypes.

Ray good to see you posting here. Glad to have you with us here in this maintain lane. We are sort of laid back and don't get too excited here. We even talk food once in a while.

Ginny we have early Spring here too. I just love it. I am waiting for May and the Honeysuckle to be blooming. Got my radish and spinach planted and the yard fertilized. I need time now for some baking.

Shawnee some computers are just lemons. I''d agree with you on the return. As you GB says just too many problems for a new computer. Hope the new guy does better for your simple living.

Susan congrats on dropping those extra 4 pounds. Great job.
Little baby Leah is growing like a weed. I can hardly wait until your little bundle arrives. The experince is awesome.

I have had to start carrying a stick with me on my walk in the neighborhood. My pet SPot keeps wanting to jump up on me and he probably weighs about 50 pounds. He is overly friendly and even nipped me in the butt one day. The stick will have to carry my message to him. Hope it works. Any advice from you pet people out there.

L8ter g8ters.

Hey Ray thanks for that intro. I must have missed it the first time around. Congrats on the staying active and the 6th degree black belt - considered a master. You should be very proud of those 58 years. You have accomplished a lot plus served our country in Viet Niam (not an easy chore). Glad to have you join us.

Ginny we must have been posting at the same time. I claim no credit for that flower. I think it is a tulip, the more I look at it. It was not identified but at a closer look on the larger pic it resembles a tulip. I just liked it.

Hi gang,
I bet you thought I'd flown the coop! I actually have been trying to stay off the puter more and get some reading and walking in. I just don't have enough hours in the day. Don't you love retirement for those who know????

Zip, what a beautiful blooming (dang, no prospects for mine yet) orkid. I just love it. Thanks for the pic.

My brother had his knee put back in yesterday and is not going to have much mobility they don't think. Had to cut lots of scar tissue out, probably from the damn 4 surgeries they did. Time will tell. Took specimens to lab but they sure don't think there is any staph left. Grrrrr

My allergies have popped up big time. Pollen is extremely high today. Guess that is the result of having spring. Ok with me. I can put up with it. Allergy doc wants me back to the office next week for more testing. Dang!! Guess my 2 other episodes after the med was out of my body has him curious. No problem for almost 2 weeks. Only cost me $15 bucks so what the heck. Let them have fun!!!

Ray, glad to see you post here. I've seen you on other bb but I don't venture very far from the Golden Years. Post away and don't get afraid of us.

I'll try and be better about posting friends. I just took out a Coney Island Chili Dog Pie and hope it's good. Will let you know later. So best go and set the table.Cook the broccoli and eat. yeah!! Later..........

Ginny, Pollen is ok since my Clarinex takes care of the symptoms. That's darn good stuff. It's the damned mold spoors that put me into an asthma attack.

We want to see some new pictures of the newly organized GH. Are they on your site yet?

Jackie, thanks for sharing the photo of your dad, mom, and Sadie. Quite a nice looking family there.
Friends can be so thoughtful at a sad time, eh? That tree will be a wonderful tribute to your dad's memory.

Dragon, it's about time you showed up. We do worry about our MIA's.

Unfortunately neither of your links work. We want to see what has kept you so busy.

Loretta, Spot BIT you on the butt? and that jumping is not acceptable. When my daughter's pup tries to bite, I just give him a sharp "NO" and a little smack on the nose. He gets the message. I've heard that a quick knee to the chest when they jump and a sharp "no" or "down" puts a quick end to that behavior. Haven't tried it though.

You have been ambitious making those hanging towels. Did you make several for yourself?

Ray, I remember when the space shuttle went down and how upset you and Martha were. Hopefully you two are doing better.

Julie, It must be such a relief for everyone to finally have that surgery over. Poor guy is going to have a long and difficult rehab but it should help tremendously.

We will all be interested in what your allergist finds. Hopefully a good anti histamine will help.

Now we need to hear from Shawnee and Susan. Hopefully Pam will surprise us with a visit soon.

Off to catch up.

Hello One and All!

Ray to our BB. What an interesting life in that capsule!

Linda,
Oh Yuk, poor you with those pesty allergines/triggers, my Mom suffered with Asthma big time!

Julie,
Glad to see you back with us! YOu too with those allergies!

Mommy,
What has been keeping you busy????? Links dont work, as Linda says. Enquiring minds .......need to know!

Loretta,
Glad to hear Leah is growing like a weed! That's what happens when ya feed 'em steak! Yeah, me too I cant wait for our little bundle to arrive. Lots of preparation yet. DD wants me to move in with her for the lst 6 weeks. YIkes, sleep deprivation for two of us, I guess?
I envy your sewing and cutting talents. I really do want to take up that skill/hobby when I reitre. Do you unpick the original and call that the pattern/prototype?

Ginny,
Thanks for the tip on the two wheeler, that is what I have a Travel Caddy with large wheels to go over the snow from the parking lot to the buildings.
I bet your GH is a tidy, organized den of nurturing all being watered systematically.

Jacki,
Bless you over these next few weeks. It took me an extra-ordinary long time to grieve the loss of my Dad. When my Mom died, he raised me single-handedly from me being 13 years, so we were very close too. My sincere condolences.
Thank you for sharing your pics with us.

Roger,
WOW! PHONECIA IS GORGEOUS!
Ouch on the water retention! Handy to have the HCTZ at your disposal! LOVE the descriptive writin! LOL! Italian Fountain indeed! I was thinkin more the Belgium one!
Happy BDay on the 31st. I remember it was a special one last year! I am catchin up!
Alright then Fred and Ethel can come too! As long as I dont have to work the conveyer belt in the chocolate factory!

Barb,
It is wise to take it easy and get plenty of rest and sleep upon your return to the Salt Mines!
Sounds like you have that glorious Colorado Sunshine! Had some of that in Denver on our several trips with DD.
My Dad's anniversary was Feb 13th, 1991. It is his birthday on March 14th.

Off tomorrow to prepare for the presentation at 7p.m. Need to read some more and then write out my speech. DD wants me to walk with her in the morning, not sure if I can fit it all in.

Then only 3 days to work next week and off we fly!
Yipppppeeee!!!!
