What a WONDERFUKL link that city to city cost of living comparison is. I will wile away MANY hours on that one. My first try was Jersey City- $30,000 and that equals Tacoma WA 16,933 and for Tampa-Clearwater, FL, $15,386!. The main element for Tampa is the 71% decrease in housing costs.
I hope CNN NEVER takes the link down! BTW Linda, it costs twice as much to live in Jersey City as to live in Syracuse...

Vicki moved away from a gorgeous big condo in Gutenburg, NJ right on the Palisades looming high over the Hudson River about 5 years ago because she'd gotten tired of the rat race in the Fashion industryand her love life ...she sold for $129K (now selling for $350K

) and moved to York PA to "go back to school" after a year she was in the rat race again and had a hot boyfriend half her age for a long time.....After that went South she began to get SICK of living in the boonies and moved back. Stayed with friends in the middle of NJ and commuted and finally found the studio (rental) apartment (400 sq. ft. in Manhattan last month). That's what we'll be seeing for the first time tomorrow....whew!

BOY do my African Violets LOVE that light box...directly overhead lighting makes such shapely plants- no leaning!

We'd love that piece of paper but NOTHING would get me up to the COLD White North til Spring breaks...I can bearly bear NJ frigidity and you are consistently 20 degrees colder!

Gym and theater today (crashed yesterday after a 4 mile walk, so I have some pep today).

The movers (DSs) are getting close and I will go and help with the unloading of the U Haul (which is not all that great since it is drinking oil)

Been there, done that and NEVER again.

Yes, NYS does have some low cost areas but they will still kill you in real estate taxes. Syracuse, eh? That is a nice small city with lots of things to do but the last time I checked, it had a rather high crime rate. Oh well, at least one can drive around without the massive traffic problems Jersey City has.

Poor Vicki, I just can't imagine living in a 400 sq ft place. Would she consider moving back to the Jersey side of the river?

I told Julie about using a toothbrush to scrub the wart until slightly irritated which brings the white blood cells to fight the virus. A surgeon friend of mine told me about it and it works.

Shawnee, I agree with Roger. That link is WONDERFUL!

Loretta, please don't hurt yourself unloading that U Haul.It's a shame but everyone I know who has rented one of those darn trucks has huge problems with them.

Hi to all the Maintain Gang!

I'm not the 'real' shawnee but her bestest friend with a message to all her LC friends from her. She called me this afternoon and said that her computer crashed big time! Thinks it may be the hard drive.

Real bummer, huh?!

She says tell you all that it may take a few days to get it fixed or 'replaced' which ever it takes, but she is okay otherwise so not to worry because she's MIA.

Hopefully, she'll have it back up a running 'real soon' though! I sure hope so, because I for one, will be totally lost without her daily emails.

We can't be too long with out her, we will be lost also.

Boy what a mess that moving business is. I left the boys to finish the big stuff. They had another stg bld to fill and than more stuff back to her house. She has a tiny house so that is going to be a mess for a while. I just might have to take some rx tonight for sore arm muscles. The park brake on the truck does not work and it has rolled down at the rest area stop. IT was a 7 hour trip for them.

Zip hope you take a pic of Vickie's 400 ft. That is so small. One room, maybe with a sleeper couch and a kitchen sink?????? Just sounds so little.

Well, we just took Cody today to be put to sleep -- our ****er
Spaniel of 14 years and then on to be cremated. His ashes will be in an urn we have prepared here at home. Hey, I thought of having him stuffed!!

I was really brave with all of this week with making arrangements, etc. until the vet started to cry. We have a close relationship and there wasn't a dry eye in that office. Right now I'm relying on Abo****e to solve my proplems and heal my pain!!

Right now -- I say no more, but in a year or so I'm sure I'll have another dog!!

Linda, I was using a pumice stone thinking it was a callous at first. Then it started causing all the little ones and discovered the big on was not a callus but a mosaic of little warts. So what's that tell you? Dr. said thats not what made them spread but the toothbrush theory kinda sounds like it. Probably as many cures as the hicup cures!!! Anyway zip, go for it and let me know.

Loretta, sure hope you take care moving. I twisted yesterday while carrying a load of DaVinci's and 5 # loaf of cheese and wham!! Very sore back but is getting better tonight with ice and Advil. Middle of the night I was sure I would be in traction today. LOL

Shawnee, what's all you guy's with your computer problems. First it was Loretta, now Linda and now Shawnee. Did you all maybe get a virus??
