Hey gang,
Well, the creeping crud has crept up on me. Sigh. Just hope that flu shot from this fall helps knock the severity waaaaaaay down. I'm really a lightweight on taking meds, take about half the recommended dosage of anything that can make me sleepy, and it will still knock me out. Luckily ibuprofen isn't one of them--that's a full strength dose! I've warned the guys that although I don't whine when I'm sick, I do ******. Lots of OTC meds here for me to choose from, so I'll find something that works..... Shawnee, GPup is absolutely ADORABLE! Give him snuggles for me! Not feeling much like typing, so this will be short. Hope y'all are well, warm and happy! L8r,

Hi everybody,
Posting late because of slow loading...no patience anymore. When the purple bar flows like "molasses in January", I bail. Nothing exciting...Couple inches of snow that the aspholes around here covered with several tons of salt instead of shoveling has turned to ICE in the 20° temps....we CAREFULLY walked over to ShopRite for a family pack of mad Top Round Steak/Roasts. If you bought 2 of the thick babies (total 4 lb. or more) you paid $1.49/lb....so I got 2 beautiful ANGRY potroasts for $6 (or Vicious stew...more likely...and some for Irate hamburger in the KitchenAide. Vicious Stew was my plan tonight but, voila, ocean perch filets ($2.99)...couldn't say no and I always make fish the day I buy it. So Perch ala Mojo Criolla and a baked potato. I predict DEAN very BIG in Iowa tonight in spite of the polling that calls the race a 4 way tie! Loretta, Snarling Pit Bull is DARLING I hear you're supposed to train them with a doll suspended from the ceiling and reward them every time they rip its Raggedy head off!! (Just kidding honey...) I got 5 1/2 hours sleep tonight...felt good. Weight is down 11# this year...11 more might be enough for me...we shall c! Ginny, Feel better today...hot soup and some good Videotape Rentals, aspirin if you get a fever or a headache....Sudafed if your nose clogs...Benadrly for itchy watery eyes and sneezing and for sleeping at night....hot tea all day long. Cali, Thanks for staring the thread...YAAAY Howard! Linda, Weather got you down yet... Susan, Florida beckons for a mini vacation, perhaps??? Everybody, Be well and let's hope for an early Spring.

Hi everybody,
I never got back here last night because I was on the phone half the night with my DD AFTER she left here. She did 3 loads of laundry and finally went home to dry some of them. Water in her basement has receded and hopefully it won't happen again. She still needs to get a drain person in to take a look. Yes Roger the weather has gotten me down as well as the problem with my daughter. This is the first time in my life that I have ever experienced what may be some depression. Ah well this too shall pass. Great deals you got on the roasts. Humm, I have my grandmothers old hand grinder and may try to make my own hamburgers with a cheap cut of beef. Lord I wish we had a Shop Rite near by. Carol, grand pup is a doll!! I'm sure your DGB will do a fine job with the training. Susan, tell your DH that we are all jealous of the temps in Fla. and beg him to send it north. Ginny, Oh dear heavens you poor thing. I sincerely hope it doesn't get really bad. Just watch closely for pneumonia. Hope you aren't even going to try to go into work. Jackie, I hope you enjoyed your holiday from work. Did you find the tee shirts you were looking for? Annie, how exciting that your sister in law has an upscale thrift shop. Does she have an on line site? Julie, what wonderful news about your DGS going back to school. How did your day go? Barb, I watched "Storm Stories" last evening on the weather channel and was awe struck by the blizzard stories they did about Colorado. Wow!! Forced my self out of the house and did a bit of retail therapy at Target. Got a nice fleece top for 8 bucks marked down from 25. Oh how I LOVE a good deal. Hopefully I'll get back here later. Smooches to all. Last edited by LoveMontana : 01-19-2004 at 05:36 PM. |

Back from clothes shopping and grocery store. I did find some great bargains. At one dept store I came home with 5 pairs of pants and 3 cute tops for $85.00. Not too shabby. Hubby's tee shirt shopping however was harder. He's a big guy and at 6'3" I have to look for tall sizes also. Sheesh, you'd think the stores would get a clue on what to stock. Every size but his should tell them that that size is in high demand!! I did come home with some good quality Carhart pocket tees and one (I wanted 2 or 3) Carhart sweatshirt. That will be a start. Left our name and # at one store so they can let us know when they get more sweatshirts in.
Found out that my Dad has his P.E.T. scan this friday instead of next. Next friday is the appt with the oncologist. I have a meeting tomorrow after work with the Asst Superintendant to talk about the time off I will be facing due to Dad's illness. There are new rules this year dealing with uncompensaged leave at the school dist. Nothing to worry about but I think the rules were changed to try to make it harder for folks that took advantage. Can't blame them. So, just a couple hoops I have to jump through to make everything on the up and up with the powers that be. Orchid, I hate hearing you are down with the crud. Drink your fluids and take care. I hope you get over it soon. Have a good evening everyone. ![]() |

Hi to all
Carol so nice to meet Burk. What a doll. I know you will be posting lots of pics on his growing etc. Such a sweet face. Enjoy that Grand pup. Gee Roger 11 # down. You sure know how to count those calories. that and getting exercise in that leather chair. Congrats. Hope the atenolol is not really the cuprit causing your sleep problems. That is Carol with the new pup and me with the new DGB Zip. Linda maybe tree roots are the cause of the water in your DD basement. My DB had that problem and they have been putting copper sulfate in the drains now for a while and no further problem. We too have been adding it at least once every 6 months to our septic system to keep the tree roots from taking over. Just a thought. I sure find too that getting wrapped up on family problems can be a downer for the most part. SO hard when we need to be the upbeat and strong ones for the others. Hang in there and it will pass. Ginny hope you get over this cold. They say it takes about a week whether or not you medicate. Just try to relieve those symptoms. My DH too is gettting a cold. I feel achy myself. Annie I sure would like to see some pics of your llamas and fur kids. Do you have a digital camera? You could get your regular film put on a cd and then download them from there. We sure like pics. Jackie sounds like you and DH had a good time shopping for those bargains. Tall guys are so hard to buy for in the stores unless you go to a tall mens store. Usually though those tall guys are big too. My x was tall and very thin, maybe 6' and 130 pounds. Talk about hard to buy for. Hope you enjoyed your day off. Hope there is better news for you on the horizon after the P.E. T. scan. SuSUN hope you got that paper work caught up today. I used to hate that aspect of nursing. But it's gotta be. If it isn't charted it didn't happen. Those pup pics were darling. Oliver must have been a sweet puppy and he probably still is a cutie. News on Leah. NO surgery for now. They will get another ultra sound in 6 weeks here in Paducah. The kids sure are relieved. They spent about 5 hours today in drs offices. 4 hours traveling time to boot. You know they are worn out but relieved. Our army GS and DSD have gone to visit other DSD and family in the city. We are home alone for a while. He will go back to base tomorrow. A quick visit for him and gramps. Catch you all l8ter. |

Loretta......DH???? Go shopping?????? hahahahahahahaha!!!!
If it ain't from Home Depot or Sears tool section he ain't shopping!!! It's a bit*h to shop for him...I swear he'd go in rags or naked before he'd go buy something. That's part of the problem too...he thinks I can just run out and find his clothes. Must be easy. I told him he needs to go buy his own and see how hard it is to find what he wants. He'd be more satisfied with what I find for sure. The problem is....I let this happen and now that I've been his mama for 30 years it ain't gonna change now. OOOOOppppssss Did I let my issues show????? hahahahahaha |

Hi Guys!
Just a quickie checkin back. Glad to see ya'll check in! Had a wonderful hour long walk with DD and her pup agin today! The temps were milder, sunny with blue skies, less wind in the woods. All that sunlight reflecting on the snow gave a good dash of light therapy! Linda I surely recommend it. I should be at TMs tonight, I was feeling lazy agin, dont want to go out in the evening cold if not absolutely necessary. I have a speech next Monday. I have not even prepared it yet. DD will be 16 weeks on Thursday, so moving right along! Yipppeee! Gender at 18 weeks!Linda, Glad you got some RT in! Wow, that was certainly a good deal. What colour is your top? Fleece sounds good right now eh? Loretta, Glad to hear no surgery yet for Leah. DS and his DW must be worn out and sleep deprived! Yep, they can bury me in this paperwork. Shawnee, DD loved the pics of DGPup Burk! as WE all do what a little cutie! CONGRATS ON THE 1# LOSS! Hope you had a good workout at Curves! Ginny, Glad your lil' guys are on the mend! Hope YOU are able to nip this in the bud before it takes a hold of you! Crack open the Vit C and all those Meds Roger recommends.Jacki, Glad you got some bargins and had a wonderful day of freedom off work! Good for you still going to Curves.Roger, I think the official count to Spring is your Fav number, 60 days! March 20th.......I think we will be planning our trip South around that time. CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS! Annie, Hope ya got through the paper today! Wavin Good Night! ![]() |

From Montana's NOT CHANGED:
Even in the original 1972 edition of Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution, Dr. Atkins explained, "fat allows for enormous variety in your diet; that vital and best of all, it keeps you from feeling deprived. Of course, you aren't confined to steak, you can have almost any kind of meat, fish or fowl." He continued, "One of the biggest reasons this diet works so successfully is because you eat protein and fat…." BINGO ! ...the reasons why I have been able to do LCing for 3 years! ((((((hugs)))))))) Montana...stressing over what we cannot change can bring on depression. Spring will come, and your DD will make her own choices...and Life will go on Blessings!Loretta, good that lil Leah will have a chance to grow and be stronger before Sx. Call me oldfashioned, but I sure like to see a baby have an extra pound or 2, in case of illness or whatever...when they are so small, a few lbs loss makes a huge difference. Guess we are too much alike, as ZIP seems to confuse us frequently...LOL...or we confuse him?? Glad your DH and his DGS has a bit of time together. So Dh is not well either? You two take care of each other! Chicken Broth! ![]() Goddess, sorry ya got highjacked by that darn bug... Hope you can ease the cruelty of it with Meds. Healing Hugs to ya. ![]() To all the Burk comments..hehee...he is adorable and lovable...and his Mom doesn't put up with any deviant behavior...and this ol' Granny has always practiced Tough Love on kids, GBrats, and FurKids. ( The Chuckster is the exception, of course; he does as he pleases. The only rule for him was NO peeing in the house, and he never has. )HAHA, Jacki...Word for word on the DH and Shopping, down to the year (30) for me too I even buy his shoes and boots. ISSUES??? ....what Issues??? LOL ....Infidelity and Abuse are issues, while simply spoiled hubbys do have redeeming qualities. ![]() SuSUN, heard a TV report just today that Docs are rethinking the Sun exposure issue, and realize we need more of it to prevent bone loss. One study shows that subjects who use tanning beds have increased bone density. Glad to hear you and DD are getting in some good bonding and exercize time in the fresh air ![]() We are going into a period of several NON-rain days...Sun will be optional, depending on cloud cover....soooo looking forward to that..and working outside. ![]() Say Goodnight, Shawnee ![]() |
