Hi everybody,
Not too much to say, just to get the ball rolling.

We're going to see COLD MOUNTAIN at Noon matinee in the LOEW'S backyard-a-plex (12 screens). Convenient as all hell but all they usually show is crap movies.

Getting calm about the doctor tomorrow (Bob's going with me). I'll probly have an angiogram scheduled in January but I hope it's less invasive than the catherter up the groin. But I can't really tell THIS doctor his business.

Linda,
No on the Atkins for me- I don't really dare try to eat a high fat diet with my cardiac risk- not at age 60 anyhow. And no matter what ANYONE says, there's no way to eat low carb 2500 calories without 60% or more fat! I've tried! And I'm trying hard for low sodium to boot! The only way to do low everything is to go the Christ route: "And he fasted in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights."
It will have to be heavy excercise and lowish calories....yeah, I'll spring for the $822 for the gym after the cardiology is behind me.

A beautiful but nippy day- low 40's here.

Happy Holiday Week all!

Mornin' y'all!

Not much new here. Pretty and sunny out, nice and mild--I think in the low 60's for today? Ahhhhh!

Went to the home improvement stores last night to look at showers for the new bathroom. We're going to get a 3/4 shower stall instead of a full sized tub/shower unit. Neither one of us take baths (not even a sore-muscle soak) so it will be fine for us. Of course, the main bath has the full unit. DH is working on getting walls up in the new bath today!

Other than that, not much going on here. I'm being very lazy on my time off and thoroughly enjoying it!

Hi to everyone, and have a wonderful day!

Roger, wishing you the best at the doctors tomorrow. There is a new procedure where they go in through an artery in the arm, if I'm not mistaken, and I'm sure they are doing it in one of our hospitals. NYC is sooo much more up on procedures so maybe there is something new he will do for you.

Let us know how you like that movie. We have two 12 plex movie theaters in our area that are always crowded. Unfortunately I've never been to either one.

Ginny, bet you are getting anxious to have that new bathroom finished. It will be lovely. We have two full bath-shower units and one full shower only unit here. I use mostly the shower but have an occasional soak in one of the tubs.
Enjoy being lazy, you earned it.

Julie, Loretta has a house full of company this weekend and may not have time to get here. I think it was her DH's kids and spouses.

We just put a small turkey in the oven for our dinner but haven't decided what to have with it yet.
I'm being lazy today since our moms won't be here.. LOVE doing nothing for a change.

Jackie, tell Carol we miss her and can't wait till she gets back. Fill us in on her computer problem if you have any info.

Pam, come on girl, check in with us. You must have tons of snow up there in the mountains. Show us some pictures.

Waving to Susan, how was dinner with DD?

Julie here is friday's post where Loretta said she was having company.

Oh and we have a George Forman grill which works great and fast, but I don't like that it dries out most meats.
We use it mostly when we are traveling and have a hotel room with a micro and refrigerator.

Hi to all of you.

Just been busy with the latest swarm of company. We are alone now for a few hours. Dstep son has gone to the gambling boat with SIL. Plan on cooking a Capon today. I think I will try the long slow cook like Roast Sticky Chichen. Actually we have been having a great time, but it is nice to be alone this afternoon.

Ginny are having great weather here too. 60s but windy with sunshine but the rain is on the way. Glad that you are enjoying your time off. Good luck on the right shower.

Zip glad that Bob is going with you to the doc. I sure hope your bp cooperates tomorrow. I find that not using the salt shaker is harder than the low fat. Most foods need some salt on them. I guess one could get use to saltless food. But lowering the fats really helped my lipids, that and the lecithin and b 5 vit. I am going to stick with all three. WE had 5 numbers on the Powerball ticket today but not in a row and on different lines. We had $5 of tickets. Did have the PB number and one so will get about $7 also. NO WINNER YET

Julie I notice with your avitars that they are from the low carb friends but I have looked in there and don't seem to be able to find how you access them. Give me a clue. My weight was down today to 122 so I will keep on with the extra walk for a while longer.

Linda will you have to work any more this year? It does help to have that ss kick in. I try to budget myself and not use my whole amount. But Dh is a lifesafer there for me. I could not have retired early (a year before ss) except for him putting me on his Mail Handlers insurance. Hope you are enjoying some snowless days.

Shawnee hope you are up and running soon. Maybe you are getting a NEW PC???

Susan miss hearing from you. Hope all is well and you are just plan old busy having a good time.

HI to Pam, Jackie and the rest of the bunch.

Loretta

It's good to hear from you Loretta. Yes having company is fun but it's nice to have some alone time.

This contract expires at the end of the state's fiscal year...March 31... and I don't know if they will extend it. It would be nice to have that option though. Two days a week won't kill me. LOL

It's bright and sunny today here and will go into the 50's. That is almost unheard of for this time of the year.

Gosh it's good to hear from you Loretta. Guess I missed that you were having all that company this weekend. Enjoy the freedom. Not sure why that says my avitar is from the low carb friends. I got it from 123greetings.com.

Linda, thanks for easing my mind about Loretta. LOL Not sure how I could've missed that.

Carol, hope that puter gets fixed real soon!!!!!!!!

Hi again,

We both give a very qualified recommendation to COLD MOUNTAIN. Acting was good all-round (but Nicole Kidman who was supposed to be starving and running a farm alone on a string of spit during the Civil War always looked like she just stepped out of VOGUE- an occasional smudge on her perfectly chiselled cheek)...Rene Zellweiger was better and Jude Law was pleasant looking and intense.

It portrays the REAL horrors of all wars and how war destroys society down to the very core of the human soul from starvation through disease and untimately to dehumanization. It also demonstates that there are always a few monsters on this planet who can capitalize on the torment of others.

A good message but we all know that (at least once you get older than 21).
It's a long movie with nice scenery....not for the small screen.

Grabbed a bite at the Mall and am already in "comfy pants"....you know, cotton- draw string jobs that feel like BUTTAH!

Good Evening Gang!

Had a mild day up here today a high of +5 Celsius. I think that is 30F something. It was very cloudy and quite misty today.

I did work on some documents for work. I love to work at home. I get much more done, less interuptions and nice to go at my own pace.

Roger,
Thanks for the low down on COLD MOUNTAIN! DD and her DH said they were planning to see it soon!
I'm with you on those comfy pants like buttah!

Julie,
So cute of you to be concerned about Loretta! Glad Linda calmed you. Love your Avatar! Hope you received the pics I sent to you all at your prompting!

Linda,
Yikes, tough always chasing a contract eh? Me too, I may take something regular on for a while to save being in the hunting mode!

Loretta,
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your company! Wow, that Sticky Chicken sounds wonderful....care to share?

Ginny,
Sounds like a good idea to have a 3/4 shower instead of the whole works, if YOU guys prefer showers and no tub soaks.
Tailor your bathing to your lifestyle, truly custom fitted!

SHAWNEE, THAT'S ENOUGH, TIME YOUR PUTER WAS FIXED!

Waving to Jacki, I guess she is enjoying her days off work!

Till tomorrow!

Hey y'all, me again!

Been playing around on the board today here and there. Got a little mini rant about a post.....Now granted, I'm a conservative (anyone who's seen me in political discussions knows that!) but I am also a realist. Metal in your face limits your job potential. Being a poor me pity baby doesn't help either. I'd really like to post something very hateful (but true), but have kept myself above that level--barely! My fingers are itching to verbally slap some sense into some people, but I doubt it would do ANY good. WHAT IS WITH THE YOUNG GENERATION NOW!!!! I acted juvenile when I was 15 or 16, but now kids approaching 20 haven't got as much vision as I (and most others) did at a much younger age. If I was a potential employer, I would not be hiring people with 'advanced body art' that was visible.

When I was 20, I had vocational school under my belt and was in the workforce full time. I have been working full time every since, with only a few breaks due to job change, move her to TN and layoffs. This is not to say I resent or am jealous of those who do not do what I did. I'm just frustrated at the lack of responsibility and motivation of this new generation.

End of Rant. Thanks for letting me vent.

BTW, two walls are up in the new bath! WOOHOO, it's coming along! After tomorrow's rains, DH should have a few nice days in a row to get it roofed!

Ginny, not quite sure what got your back hairs up but to be truthful, I stay away from the other bb most of the time. Once in awhile I check out the recipe suggestion one and on rare occasion check the main bb. I stick right here and of course the Golden Years which is very comfortable and no cotroversy there. I never go to the playground like Linda. I don't know how she does it but I think she thinks it's entertaining. These young ones drive me nuts too. They think life owes THEM a living. Hope getting it off your chest has you settled down now. It sure helps to vent.

Zip, you almost have me convinced to go see Cold Mountain. Not good on video probably???

Susan, you have to learn how to use the vivatar. First get those pic reduced to 80x80 size. Then maybe someone can walk you through it. BTW you look just like you and your dd could be sisters. You are soooo young looking girl!!!

Carol, are ya fixed yet?????

Thanks for the thumbs up on Cold Mountain Roger. Now if I can convince Gerard to see it. LOL When hell freezes over... Maybe I'll take my mom. She LOVED Saving Private Ryan.

Ginny, I went to look at your post. BRAVO girl. That was great! I refuse to post to that one. She is such a dumb young idiot as are most of them there. I do enjoy reading some and watching all the crap though.

Julie, most of those young ones drive me nuts but I know who to avoid after being on this bb for so long. I don't spend a lot of time there so it's not too bad. Most of my on line time is spent reading news or research studies, etc.

I Miss Carol

Linda,

Thanks! I was trying very hard to be civil. But the fingers were itchin', yanno?

Julie, I've been more of a lurker on the PG, but this one just got me, and I must have been in the right mood to put my opinion out.

Sheesh! But I do feel better now!

Been there, done that too Ginny.
Every so often I'll cut loose and give them a piece of my mind, but most of the time I don't get anywhere... only flamed. LOL

Well, it is winter. At least the flames are warm! LOL

I don't mind getting flamed. Actually I find it pretty humorous when the person flaming me has multiple spelling, grammar and sentence structure problems. I may have a typo here and there, but I do try to proofread and be sure my post makes sense. Kind of goes to the battle of wits/unarmed person thing

Wow, am I in a mood or what

Yesterday we worked at fininshing up the taping and mudding in the bedroom. First thing this morning we were at Home Depot getting texture, primer and paint.
My brother Rich came over and he and Roy sprayed the texture on the walls and ceiling---then got the primer on. As soon as the primer dries they will get the painting done. Going quickly now. I took some photos this morning of the bedroom before the texturing.
The ceiling will be white....I like a classic white ceiling. For the walls I chose Pottery Clay and the trim will be Pastel China.

Try this site and under interiors type in those colors and you'll get an idea of what we chose.
http://www.behr.com/behrx/workbook/

Tonight we will be sleeping on the livingroom floor. Paint isn't drying very fast.

Hi there. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day would've done Bing Crosby proud with the gorgeous snowfall here! Have been, and am still--busy with DGbrats. Family, work, OY!!! One of these days, maybe I will be a regular poster again.
