Saturday, October 18

Good morning all,

We saw a cute show last night with a friend. No dinner though because of the rain. Too bad, because we could have made it to the restaurant before the rain started....damn weatherman. We were planning on HALLO BERLIN, a real good German restaurant on the far West Side.
Saw a show called EAT YOUR HEART OUT...a cute comedy about the trials and tribulations of an actor/waiter (NY indigenous species) and the various restaurants he's worked in (from seediest all night diner, called DINER , to the fanciest French boite. Lot's of fun all round.

Coming home we dashed for a train and I got the old familiar chest burn....gotta get some angiographs done. I'd been off my Lipitor for two weeks to see if there's an effect on my achy joints. I guess I'd better stay on it.

Linda,
PHILADELPHIA was SUCH a good movie....that Monserrat Caballé aria from Andrea Chenier (La Mamma Morte) was the high point that brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Yep, Zip is an Opera fan.
Did you catch who played Hanks' cute lover Miguel...yep, that was Antonio Banderas.

My take on the Ferryboat (see if I'm right)....the captain was suicidal and was fully awake and conscious as he rammed the boat into the pier. When that didn't kill him he toddled home and tried it with a knife and a popgun. I have every respect for someone who turns suicidal- it's an inalienable right- but at least keep the death toll to ONE....unconscionable he'd risk taking others with him.

Susan,
I think I'll try one of those Cox-2 inhibitors also. I had always thought of them as daily things and they are SOOO friggen expensive that is out of the question. But for the occasional backache....yeah.
I was looking for an excuse to ask for something else when I get my flu shot.

Loretta,
That Hamilton Beach grille of yours with the removable (washable) surfaces sounds like the way to go. I've checked around for the ketopofen. It sounds pretty much like ibuprofen. Does DH have much stomach trouble with it? It's supposed to be even harder on the stomach than IBU?
How much allopurinol for hubby? I get by well on 200 mg/day...I up it to 300 for a high meat- high chocolate kind of week.

Julie,

I think aerobic classes are impractical for people of a certain "tender" age. I tried 5 years back and regretted it....yep, knees! I think the gentle stretching of yoga combined with strength training with weights of pulleys is the better way to go.
Believe me, these 20-something "aerobic bunnies" are asking for LOTS of trouble when they crawl into the SS office to sign up for their first check. Of course, the money will probably be all spent before they get to go.

Ginny,
We're giving you a good education for the meds you'll need for tendonitis in your "delicate" years.

Shawnee must be bakin' up a storm.

Have a nice weekend all. Cool and sunny here.

House remodel is getting frightening!!!

Found some foundation rot!!
So, now the guys have to replace some foundation boards before going further. Probably have to tear into the porch wall also.
Should've known this would happen. Dumb ol' house.

Hi to all

We have some rather nice weather this weekend now that the fog has burned off. 70s low humidity, nice for the Fall Festival.

Zip that German resturant sounds so good. You are so fortunate to have different ethinic foods available. Next time go when you can stay dry. Glad you enjoyed the show. I did not know you stopped your lipitor. Has it helped ease your aching joints?? But we don't want that chest burn either. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. DH just started on the ketoprofen this week. We will see about the stomach. He is taking 300mg of the allopurinal. He is feeling some better lately.

Shawnee you must have been enjoying the company since the time got late on you. Will they be staying a few days? Enjoy them.

Jackie sorry to hear about your snafu in the project. Most of those projects always get more involved than anticipated.

Hi to the rest of the gang,
Will check in l8ter.

Jackie,

I've been house hunting (since about 1850). I'm desperately afraid of wood near the ground. Give me stone and brick anytime.
Sold one [grandmother's and parent's built in 1873 (that I shoulda kept)] that was a mortared boulder foundation and all brick....nary a bug or a rotten piece of wood in its 160 years!
Like Stonehenge!

edit:
All coming in fast and furious...Loretta, I don't THINK that stopping the Lipitor had much effect on the rotten joints and I started back up yesterday....after the chest pain. I'll schedule a cardiologist right after my flu shot (probably next week).

Ginny,
WOW a MASTER BATH? Make sure to get a 6 foot tub (or 7 if they make them)...I wan't to visit for a soak. This joint has a 5 footer and I haven't taken a bath since 1987!

Hey gang,

A pretty day for us too. Heard the cooling in the gh kick on and off, so I know it's nice out! Looks like a lazy Saturday for us here, DH is puttering around figuring what he'll need for the MASTER BATH ADDITION that will hopefully go up quickly and without problems (yeah, right!)

Zip, glad you had fun at the show, but too bad about dinner.

Shawnee, have fun with your company!

Loretta, fall festival sounds like fun, so enjoy!

Jacki, I sure know what you mean about snafus! Old house here too.

Everyone have a great day!

Hi Guys,

DH will be landing soon! His flight from Pittsburgh was cancelled, so he has been there for a couple of hours. DSIL has gone to get him at the airport. Landing time 2;30p.m. So I can get the house and me ready to greet him. I expect he will be very tired, an early start in Orlando this morinig!

I'll be glad to see him, Oliver too!

I managed to get those pounds off from last weekend, so pleased about that, just my normal eating all week soon rectified that.

Roger,
Good Insight into the Captain, if he was suicidal. They are not in a stable sense of mind so he would have no thought for others! Sadly, a part of mental illness.
Glad you saw a good show, too bad ya missed the German Faire!
Do watch that "burn" as you call it. Report these incidents to your Doc. You many need a change of Meds. Hope the Mobicox helps you. DH takes daily but I take occasionally, works for me.

Loretta,
Enjoy the Fall Festival , glad you have the ideal weather!

Jacki,
Awwwwwh, dont panic yet! Glad you have someone on the job right away! (((HUGS)))

Ginny,
Have a great Lazy Saturday! Me too if I can get it!
I hope your Master Bath has room for the Mistress of the House too!

Shawnee,
Ejoy the Gbrats and DS today! Great Weekend Stuff!

Wavin to Linda, Pam and All!
HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND! I WILL!

Dry rot fixed, windows in!! still need to put up the moisture barrier and replace the siding but a lot was accomplished today. Those three guys worked their a**es off. The rain held off for us too.
Zip, our house is on an 18" (I think) cement foundation so we aren't on the ground. But, old houses are old houses.
The show sounds interesting. You do such different stuff! I'm intrigued.

I've been going to Curves for two weeks now and I bit the bullet and weighed in.....I was holding my breath....I lost 4 lbs!!!!!! Whewwwwwwwwww I really needed the boost!

Shawnee....thanks for the honk drive by....always good to wave at my Pal. Seems like wave is all we get to do together anymore. Enjoy your company.

Time now to get ready to go out for dinner. Celebrating one of the guys' birthday tonight at our favorite mexican restaurant--Casa Azteca. Yum! (I'll be good there too......only taco salad sans chips. All A-OK legal food. )

Y'all have a nice peaceful evening.

Hell of a busy day here. UGH!!

Roger I love opera and am especially fond of the Tenors. Oh that movie was good. It brought a tear or two to my eyes several times but especially when the Aria was playing. Wow very intense. I thought Miguel looked familiar. He was so young then. LOL well so were the others.

Hum, we have a Hallo Berlin place here too but I don't suppose it's a chain.

You may have a point about the captain. It will be interesting to see what develops.

GET YOUR ASS TO THE CARDIOLOGIST ASAP, ok? That's nothing to fool around with.

Shawnee, 2 AM eh? You are getting to be quite a night owl. Glad you had a nice visit. Tell us all about it when you have time.

Jackie, sorry about the foundation rot. Old houses can be a royal pain in the ass. Fortunately we have a full, poured concrete basement and haven't had a bit of problem with it. YET!

Loretta, What lovely weather you are having. Is it always so nice there in the fall?
Hope your dh gets his meds straightened out and will feel much better soon.

Ginny, Cool! You will love that master bath. How big is it going to be. LOL if you get a huge tub, we will all come for a soak.

Julie, So tell us about your trip to town and what you found good to pick up. Hopefully that rain will let up soon. You have had far too much this week.

Susan, your poor dh is going to be so tired. There is nothing worse than sitting in an airport waiting for a flight that has been cancelled. Talk about STRESS!

Off to catch up here. I haven't been on line much at all today.
