We must have arrived at the some time Shawnee. I just was about to make a new post when yours appeared.
Ginny glad you gave us an update on the kitchen. I was about to ask about it. Our concord grapes that we ordered from a catalog were suppose to get as "big as plums". Well they sure look like regular grapes to me. Seems like every other year we have a nice crop. Dh prefers them more than I do. I did make some jam one year and it was a lot of work. I gave most of it away. Hope you are enjoying your 3 days off. We did get a little rain here yesterday. Some others close by got a lot more rain than we did. I think we only measured about 2 tenths in the gauge. We have cooler temps but the high humidity remains. Shawnee thanks for the Hansens site. Now that explains it. I have not seen those soft drinks in our neck of the woods. That walnut cranberry yeast ring looks delicious. I guess you too are able to find cranberries or did you freeze some last fall? I am going to look for them when we go north. You have lots of nuker bakeware. Well Linda too bad about those fires. Sorry your plans had to be changed. It is the most sensible alternative for right now. The inside and outside of your home is sure getting lots of TLC. Gerard must be feeling a lot better now that the stone situation is done with. Enjoy the dinner with the moms today. Zip hope you enjoyed the "movie" and dinner. Susan hope you are winding down now and can concentrate on thinking about more enjoyable things. Hi to Pam and our other lurkers today. Going to work on my KY Wildcat pillows today and just enjoy the day. L8ter, Loretta |

Good Sunday to One and All!
Yip, back to normal now! ....whatever that is? It is another sunny day but way cooler, yikes the last day of August! Gradually nudging us into those Fall clothes! I havent noticed any leaves changing colour yet!Thank YOU All, for the supportive words and I will take your advice to "kick back" and relax this long Labour Day weekend. I may even draft up another Speech for my TM's. I am thinking that Influenza might be a good topic ! It is relevant and timely to get those shots etc.... The Pandemic of 1918 killed over 20 million people more than WWI. It was the Spanish Flu and cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. I thought this could be my opening. This years vaccine has the New Caledona, the Panama and the Hong Kong Flu strains to protect us. They always have 3 strains in there, as they make educated guesses what is coming our way. I love Public Health stuff! I hope I dont bore the pants of my audience. Shawnnee, ohhhhhh what a site to behold, your wonderful Roses the other day and now this delectable Cake! I must "fess up, I have been hitting the bread these past few days, I gotta pull back as I am tipping the scales 4lbs heavier already. I started by allowing myself 1 slice a day.....then took a bit more. Wish I could get myself into Curves like you! Loretta, interesting about that Sx taking the needle/wire and all to the path lab for analysis. I think that is what was supposed to happen with me. Thanks for sharing that. DD is counting the day, they return home on Thursday. Why is it that we all feel this way when family are visiting for longer than the proverbial 3 days.......dead fish story? etc.... Enjoy working on those pillows today, we can all do what relaxes us! Linda, yes, I will continue with the follow ups and will look into Rochester or even FLA while I am with DS at the end of November! Trip is booked so I guess I can start packing soon! When do you leave for vacation?? Roger, hope you enjoyed the show. The cheque's in the mail. Hope there is no postal strike! You did say Cdn dollars eh???? Thank you for your guidance Doc!How is your friend with the heart problems? Ginny, hope ya takin some time off the ole fork lift this weekend. We ALL deserve this weekend! How is the Family of Five Furkids? All settled and trained now????? Olivers skin condition is much improved with all the creams and he has had his 3rd dose of drops for heartworm, mites etc.... Revolution, so I guess together they are working. Waving to Julie, Jacki and Pam. ![]() Last edited by SuSUN : 08-31-2003 at 11:19 AM. |

Morning all,
Shawnee, yes those roses were just beautiful. Mine are doing terrible. Have neglected them again this year. I'm so gung ho in the spring and by August, I'm never out there. Not a true gardener at heart. Love the indoor plants much better. Wow the cranberry bread looks wonderful. You are so ambitious. I did try a new recipe yesterday, a stirfry green bean and I too can't leave a recipe alone and added some chicken I had left over. It was so good, had sesame oil for the oil and I love that flavor. Lots of garlic and ginger. Have seen the Hansen's soda in the health food section of Fred Meyers but never bought them. Susan, I too had gained 4 lbs. during the busy month of August but last week cut back and have dropped 2 lbs. The next 2 may be more difficult. I was eating some sprouted bread but decided to try some of DH homemade bread and I too got in trouble. Sitka from the Goldies bb told me about a Market to go to and they have Joe's low carb bread. It's small and ok but expensive but it only has 3.6 carbs and 1.3 fiber. It's made in Protland Shawnee so maybe you've tried it. I like the sprouted wheat that I was eating better. It has 13 carbs with 4 g of fiber. Much better. Toasts up good. Little chewy all these breads. Not like homemade!! I'm really spoiled!!! I love toast and it's been hard giving it up. I will eat this low carb bread til it's gone but may go back to the sprouted one. Glad you are back to normal even if you don't know what it is!! LOL Me neither!! Ginny, I sure can relate to the kitchen remodel. We did about half the house changing our kitchen about 8 years ago. Cut a wall in half, moved it out about 3 feet. My dH made all the cupboards etc. Our house in the past 36 years has changed in every aspect. Nothing is the same. Won't go into all the changes now. Maybe when I have more time. Loretta, glad you like to do the crafty things. Someone has to do it and enjoy it. Never could stick to any of it. Have tried them all except maybe quilting. I do like to knit in the winter while watching TV. Haven't made anything for so long though. Off to see our friends new house after all has settled. Then hoping to stop and see our new baby!! Hope they will be around today. Never know about them. LOL Linda, thanks for all your help again. Still getting those popups even with Ad Aware. Not sure how this works though. Doesn't stop the pop ups and you have to scan...??? Doesn't make sense to me. I'm so illiterate at this stuff, it makes me so mad. Learning but slow going. Anyway Linda, thanks for your patience. Hi to Roger, Jacki and Pam. Julie |

HI again, Y'all
Sure a nice day here; will probably get up to the mid-eighties later tho. Loretta, I can find frozen Cranberries bout year 'round here...probably cause they are a native product. Yup, my supply of Nuker cookware is increasing...I found more at garage sales and second hand places. Yesterday's experiment was to test Yeast in the Nuker. I was very pleased with how it performed. Julie, I don't try the commercial LC breads, cause the Bakeries seem to poke some damn soy (in some form) into most of them. I can make homemade breads as LC or lower than store-bought anyway. However, I sometimes buy this one...slices are a tad smaller than full-size, but makes teriffic toast at 5 1/2 ECC per slice. Freddy's and Safeway carry it. Orowheat Light 100% Whole Wheat bread: Cals: 40, Carbs: 9g, Fiber: 3.5g,Protein: 2g Stir-fry is a staple here I had never used Sesame Oil til ZIP told me about it...great stuff! Hope you get to see your new GS. ![]() Susan, sure can empathise with your DD...too bad her guests are staying so long...would be nice if they visited others also while they are here, to give her a break. Oh, the Flu ...yes, we will all be thinking of that in a few months. Would be a good topic for your TM group. Good news that lil Oliver is doing well ![]() Hey ZIP, Montana, and Goddess...we need a Sunday Review from Y'all. Later...the Outside calls... Good evening everyone,
Shawnee, we find cranberries here year round too. I LOVE them. Boy I wish we had a safeway here. That bread sounds pretty good especially since it doesn't contain soy. I'll start nagging our local places to see if they can stock it. Hope you are enjoying the great outdoors. Julie, you will lose those last two lbs soon. Yeah home made bread is wonderful but so dangerous unfortunately. No problem Julie, you are welcome. But I think the only thing you can really do is get rid of MSN and go with another ISP. ie AOL, USA Data Net, cable?? Although I understand that AOL isn't much better than MSN. Hope you got to see the new baby. Susan, I'm surprised you don't see any leaves changing being much farther North than we are. We have noticed some color changes in the past two weeks. UGH!! I hate the thought of heavy clothes. Relax and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Flu, Sheesh. It seems like I just got my shot but it was last Sept. Loretta, DH is back to normal. LOL what ever that is. Did you ever try to make Grape Pie? In the finger lakes region here there are several people who make it. Boy is it wonderful! Ah memories. Ginny, don't forget to update us with kitchen pictures. Roger, what's up with you today? My mom and daughter were here for dinner but DH's mom had a birthday party to attend. What a beautiful day with dry air and clear BLUE skys. Fall is in the air. Wouldn't you know there is a hurricane in the Atlantic? With our luck it's going to take aim on the Carolina Coast. |

Linda,
We can get a cable connection to the internet. NO dial up. We have lots of options and think this is the way to go. Guess I'll just have to lose all those favorites. I posted on the playground. Boy is that a strange bb. I only read a few posts and was only there one other time and don't think I'll be a regular. They are SO young!!! Shawnee, I use to eat that bread all the time when I counted calories. UGH! Anyway, it's not for me, I llike a good grainy bread and thats just like Wonder. My sprouted bread only has 9 after deducting the fiber. |

Hi Guys!
Just back from dinner out with DD and her company. I chose a Greek Salad and Chicken Souvlaki, lots of black olives and a glass of white wine from DD's bottle! Julie, I'm not surpriseed you gained 4lbs cuz we are Twins eh? It was the bread that got me into trouble too! Linda, I hope the hurricane does not chase you in the Carolinas! Yep, I found it strange the trees are still green in our neck of the woods. It has just dropped in temp though, was in the high 80's up until last week! Shawnee, whats all the talk about grapes and cranberries, sounds heavenly! Guess I missed something! Gotta catch up!We are going to watch, "Gangs of New York" tonight, DD said their are lots of violent scenes, hope it does not spoil it. So off to catch the movie with DH now! ![]() |

Hi Y'all
Oh, YUM...Susan ....a dinner for the Greek Goddesses ...and English ones too.We have a version of Greek Salad every so often, but I add lots more variety than the traditional style. http://www.brightlife.ca/1/cookbook/...n_souvlaki.htm The Cranberry chatter concerns the Yeast bread I made in the Nuker a few days back. Apparently they grow on the Right Coast also? The backyard is covered with Birch leaves, they have turned golden and are announcing Fall. Do y'all have Vine Maples in your areas? I love to go to the woods in Fall to see them...like FLAMES, in brilliant fire hues. Montana, LOL..the Grape Pie brought back pleasant memories....too bad grapes are kinda high gly to make a whole pie with...heheee, maybe mix 'em with peaches?? The trick for less work is to use Seedless grapes, no straining out the seeds. ![]() Glad you got to have DD and Mom over. Girl, I swear...does marking a Vac destination cause weather/problems there?!? ......Like ZIP's, rain for weeks. Loretta, I certainly hope all goes well, weather and safety-wize, when y'all head North. Julie, LOL..guess we all have different tastes re Breads. I liked that Orowheat...but then, I was buying it before I learned how to master the faux-flours....years back, most all the LC bread recipes here on the Boards were made with Soy...so I had to do without. When Jacki came up with her first Flax Muffins, I was in Heaven! ![]() That Spongebob's Flaxbread is good and grainy. Just finished reading James Patterson's ROSES ARE RED. Suprise ending, great for crime novel nuts. Hope ZIP and Goddess are off somewhere having a wonderful time (We want DETAILS ) ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 08-31-2003 at 10:28 PM. |

Julie, maybe you could e mail the links of your favs to friends or relatives to save for you. Cable ISP is fantastic and so fast.
LOL I love lurking on the playground. It's better than TV. Darn fool kids are something.Susan, I LOVE Greek food. That's the one good thing that came of my first marriage. well besides my four kids.Hope you enjoyed the movie. A bit of violence dosen't bother me at all. It's real life. Did you ever see Saving Pvt. Ryan? Boy that was excellent! My 79 yr old mom loved it. Shawnee, Oh yes we have native grown cranberries on the "right coast". Mostly grown in the state of Maine. Humm, I'll have to pick up a copy of Roses are Red. I love crime novels or better yet, true crime stories. I'm almost through with Unveiled. True story of an Iranian Journalist. |

evening,
Shawnne, yea, that bread does have soy flour in it. I did copy that Spongebobs flax bread recipe down. I'm just getting so sick of flaxmeal muffins. Can't even look at eggs in the morning so I usually eat the muffins and I just need a change. Toast and p.b. has always been my choice. Linda, I give up. I can't think tonight from being on the puter all day looking and reading pop up sites to download and then ended up with none of them. Spent 2 day's loading and unloading for nothing. I think I'll put them in an email and save them in a draft for now. I'll figure out something. Late and I need to go to the goldies site yet. Julie |
