Monday, August 18
Good morning,
Weather is SUBLIME- the first really NICE day in a month. Slept with the fan blowing clean air through the apartment. Today is Bob's first day back at work afternearly 2 months off. I'll meet him in INDIANTOWN at 5:15 for Indian Dinner and another Fringe Festival play (in AIR-CONDITIONING this time). Linda, Susan, I think FAVORITES can be limitless (I have over 1000). Make sure, though, you use lots of SUB FOLDERS and even SUB-SUB FOLDERS or else you wind up with a 2 mile string and can't find anything. Remember too, if you use the Favorites on the top line (between View and Tools) you can RIGHT CLICK at any time and choose SORT BY NAME. That will alphebetize that particular list. Susan, MAKE SURE you learn to save these to a floppy. You'll go INSANE if you ever lose the list. (I'd throw out the computer.) I'm gonna put off the gym haggling a couple days. No sense joining today and then waiting around til my shoulder stops aching. A LONG WALK today instead. Prepping for a liver/gall-bladder flush at weeks end. First step is several days of lots of apple juice to soften stones. Then a NON-FAT DAY, then the day of olive oil/lemon juice and epsom salts. Last time it cured my shoulder pain- hoping for the same, but in any case, just preventing gallstones is good enough reason. After the apple juice, I've laid down the law....NO SWEETS in the apartment...OF ANY KIND. I am allowing fruits and starches like pasta, rice, potatoes.....but NO ice cream, sherbets, pies....NADA-not even a teeny piece of hard candy. I (and WE...lest he know it) NEED a 10 pound loss. (that last dot was called PERIOD!) Later gaterolas! __________________

Good Morinin, Rise and Shine Mag Maintainers!
Another gorgeous day up here, the sun is shining, with that hint of a cool breeze. Trying to keep the A/C off down to a minimum as they are threatening rolling blackouts for a week till they get it sorted. They were concerned about the work week drawing more power today. Non essential workers are to stay home. I have to go in tomorrow! Shorts and Tees, no A/C allowed at work, on the 4th floor, no elevators either, so will get some exercise in! Roger thanks for the info on the Fav sites! The printer deal that you got yesterday, is the very same printer DSIL got for me in April 2003, and it cost me $166.57 Cdn with tax, so ya sure got a deal, no rebate either. The ink cartridge cost me $41.39 with tax, so not printing alot at home. DD saw Miss Siagon last night, from a box no less and she said she cried at the end, she could not hold in the emotions any longer, so a good time had by all. Julie, Wow, What a Cutie! Awwww, just cant wait........DD will be trying again in the Fall.......just cant wait! How many GBs do you have? From 18 to 1 month old, awwwh you are Sooooo lucky!I've got TMs tonight. I have a closing thought to say. I am using Rogers closing message. I think that is Soooo appropriate. I say it often to myself, to just let go of yesterday. Thanks Roger for the quote! Hope ya all stay KOOOOL today! ![]() |

Hi to all
VERY HOT Here, 90s all week long with high humidity. Dog days of summer are here. Had a nice visit yesterday with DGBs and DS and even DDIL. The toys were partially broken before we left. Had a nice dinner at Rafterty's. I had a very nice chicken salad with fresh fruits and a dip that I asked for on the side. All was delicious. Susan I just have a not too expensive Brother sewing maching and I don't do anything but straigh sewing, curtains, quilts etc. No dressmaking or other tailoring things for me. KISS. That is my motto too. Forget the extra jobs and just enjoy your free time. Life is short. Hope Oliver does well with the rx they prescribe, interesting about the genetics. LOL on the reading lamp. Glad your power is restored. Julie love the picture of Logan. What a doll. You sure have a wide age range of grandkids. My oldest is just 6. Glad you got to go and see the Mariners play in person. That makes real difference. I have a Xerox printer that they probably don't even make any more. THe ink is expensive and NEVER on sale. It does a nice job of printing though. Seem like the ink does not last that long either. Shawnee thanks for the recipe for the Lobster biscuits. That does look like too many pork rinds for me. I will copy it and your substitutions. Did we ever come up with a recipe for a cobbler? Can't remember that but I remember some talk about it.Linda you sure don't need to go to Montana. I feel bad that you might have to cancel your plans. If you do you need to get busy on some new plans for reservations etc. What a dilemma. Ginny that pup is so precious. What a tiny fellow. Will you keep him? The other furkids might like having a step kid to pick on. Will email you a picture of a Titans quilt that I made for my DIL. We could do that and probably need only a yard of the material if it is 60 inches wide. That quilt was about 50 X 60, a lap type quilt. Zip did you get that new printer set up and going. Do you print a lot of color things? I just buy black in now (el cheapo here) Hope that shoulder is on the mend. I agree with waiting for that to get better before the gym. Jackie I usually allow myself a few extra carbs on Sundays only, but I am have even gotten stricter with myself on those. Today I woke up with a headache, probably carb induced. Good going on that yard sale. I know Shawnee will visit. You could sell some low carb treats too and be successful at it, I'm sure. Later, Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 08-18-2003 at 12:16 PM. |

Hi everyone,
Roger thanks for the tip on organizing favs. So how the heck does one create sub folders? Glad to hear you are at least giving up sugar filled candy and ice cream. Sugar is nothing but bad for us. Baby that shoulder till you are pain free. Susan, do you remember years back when they wanted us to conserve power? LMAO the electric company weren't making profits and raised the rates. B@stards! It's wonderfully cool and fairly dry here today. Unfortunately the leaves on some of the trees are showing the first sign of change. Even though I love Sept., I hate to think of what's to come. Spent most of the night looking at alternative sites for vacation. Damn, my heart isn't in it. Off to check the price of ink cartridge for the old HP printer. Later gaters. |

Hi Y'all.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Going to be a hot here the next few days. 90 or so. Catching the cool morning breeze before closing up the windows and using the AC. Yesterday I had a badddddd day...binge!! Popcorn, crackers, ice cream...Oh..and french toast for breakfast out. I allowed myself the one day...one day only. I will not feel guilty! About printers.....If you are wanting a photo quality printer...I have an HP 7350. It uses a color cart. and a photo/black cart. The photo/black utilizes 3 colors really to give that nice natural skin tone look and color balance. I love it. Got it at Wallyworld for $179.00 but have seen them down in price in the last several months. This week will be a busy one for me. I'm having a garage sale thrus and fri. and I've not done one stinkin' thing to get ready for it. I suppose when I'm under pressure I'll gather things in a fury. LOL Garage sales are a lot of work but they are soooo much fun. Love watching people. Next week we are leaving on a little vacation to central Oregon. Have reservations with friends on a houseboat on a lake! We are so looking forward to it. Just watch the weather turn awful...would just be our luck. Catch you all later. |

Susan,
You made my day on that printer price...though, I'm sorry your DSIL paid so much. STAPLES sells a knockoff on the ink cartridges (for me it was a prerequirement. Costs somewhatless than HP but has 3 times as much ink. Look for their STAPLES replacement #78 (color) and #15 (black) (same numbers HP uses). I'll get the exact price after I use up the "complementary" cartridge....I imagine that's about 6 drops of ink! Linda, Favorites>Organize Favorites....highlight any folder or sub-folder and click CREATE FOLDER- then just give it a name....you can make as branched a tree as you want (you should see my ARTS folder !!!) FOOD is getting pretty detailed too. (Unfortunately FINANCE is looking pretty paltry )After you create the folder it will fall at the bottom of it's list but when you Right Click and SORT BY NAME, it moves up to the top with it's sister folders. I know how YOU'RE going to spend your next day off....ROFL! Don't do more than one or two categories a day or you'll go blind....or is that for masturbation- NO that's hairy palms??? Jackie, I figure if we can pack all our sins into one day a week, things aren't too bad. I'm trying hard but can only squeeze about 6 of the 7 Deadly Sins into my Fridays! Working at it though (SLOTH comes the easiest!...LUST the most fun) Loretta, Sorry you're getting the dog days.....It seems dry here (85% humitidy) compared to the last month (99%+)! Weathermen promising mid-60's here tonight. I have 10 times the energy when it's more comfortable. OH, It's been so nice without need for the air-conditioner. Walked 3 miles this morning. I shouldn't have done so much having to get into NYC and walk across Manhattan at 4 PM! ![]() Well, I NEED the exercise! Last edited by zip2play : 08-18-2003 at 12:27 PM. |

Hi gang,
Roger, I have lots of folders but never tried sub catagories. I'll give it a try. I also have tried to no avail to copy my favorites but MSN has totally blocked that idea. Guess this is their way to keep you on MSN. Can't alphabetize either but can list by last visited in descending order. That helps some. Not being able to copy all of my fav's is THE reason I haven't told MSN to go "you know what." I loved your "Ralph Waldo Emerson quote!! Printed it and should put it on my refriderator. I'm getting a little too relaxed with some carbs and need to get back to basics again. I'm still under 120 but just barely. Susan, I have 5 DGK ranging from almost 18, 14, 61/2, 4 and 2 weeks. I sure love my DGK, much more enjoyable than raising our own kids. You can spoil them and send them home. LOL Loretta, I really like your pic with your DGK. They are so cute. Of course you are too!! LOL I like the pic of you so much though, I think you should use that in your sig. Linda, I agree with the feeling fall is in the air. The trees have made some changes here too. I like fall but dread the forcasted colder, wetter winter for here. Jackie, you sure are brave to have a garage sale. It just isn't worth it to me. Ok, you had your binge, now get back on track. I decided I have to get back into exercise today so went for a walk. Only 30 min. but it's a start. I've been MIA since mid May. Later, Julie

Hi Y'all
Just a quickie, I'm leaving for Curves in a few... Julie, nice pic of you and wee one ![]() Ditto, Loretta...cute DGbrats...and dangit! LOL..you just keep on lookin' younger ![]() For a cobbler topping, just use a Sweet Muffin recipe...may have to thin it a bit Thicken fruit with Xanthan. YUM!Jacki...as you know, I didn't do Induction...so I never had to fall off it...LOL Sorry, I totally disagree that it stops cravings...if it did, there would be no need to do it again...and the most popular recipes in the RR and on the Recipe Help Board are Desserts. Each time a new one is posted, peeps are all over it like flies on ...well, you know... Just my .02 opinion. ![]() Hope the weather holds out for your trip....but you'll have fun no matter what. ![]() Geez, ZIP...thanks for the reminder bout FAVs...mine of full of "junk" that needs weeded out. Catch y'all later, after the Sweat Thang ![]() Shawnee |

HI Guys,
Just a quick check back before I make supper and head off to TMs! .................my sky diving club! LOL!Roger, Thanks for the tips on the cartridges and the sub folders. A bit complicated for this novice, but I will attempt one free day. Yikes, I dont want to get hairy palms or go blind! I'll be using YOUR Emerson's quote tonight, so your ears may be burning! Linda, glad you asked how to make the folders, I have to keep those instructions by me so I can follow to the tee. I do not have the same tool bar, cuz I am on AOL. Wow, sorry to hear about the trees changing colour! I haven't noticed that yet up here, I guess it is coming soon!![]() Did ya find an alternative for your vacation? How about Alberta or BC, your dollar will go further up here too! Banff is spectacular! Colorado is too! Julie, What a wonderful family you have and to top it all off with a 2 week old precious sweetie! 5 GKs and counting? Ginny, Loved the pics of Shey and Nitro (is that because he is volatile??? ) pill under the tongue.....nuf said!Jacki, good luck with the Garage Sale! I know whatcha mean about procrastinating, we all love to get rid of the stuff but not the work involved in pricing etc... You hardly get anything for things anyhoo! I find people want the stuff for nothing. Hope it goes well for you. Wow, that vacation sounds great, a houseboat, I've never been on one of those! Which Lake will you be on? Gotta check the map of Oregon out! We visited Portland and the Rose Garden a few years back.Loretta, LOVED THE PIC OF YOU AND YOUR DGKs! Another Lucky Lady! They are adorable! I would love to do straight sewing but the darn thing always seems to get tangled in the back. DH messes with it and gets it more even but I just dont trust it. I may ask for a "Brother" for Christmas, they are always wondering what to buy me, cuz my birthday too on Christmas Eve, 55 this time, yikes! Time to slow down on the work front eh??? Yep, we are hoping the creams and spray combination does the trick for Oliver's rash. I know it is not life threatening but dont want him to be uncomfortable. It seems to be responding to the daily applications and TLC. Thanks for your well wishes. Shawnee, are ya still off baking those cheesy biscuits. Thanks for the wonderful recipes. The Scallops one I forwarded to DD and she is making that tonight. Thank you. I agree these Breeders should be more careful with how they inter breed with these genetic problems showing up and diseases. I guess the more pure bred the more risk we take. We had a wonderful mixed breed before Oliver and she lived a healthy long life till she was 16years. Waving to Pam.....busy with those DGks no doubt! HAVE A WONDERFUL MONDAY EVENING! ![]() |

Gee Loretta, you and I must have been posting at the same time too. What beautiful grandbrats you have. How old are they? You are looking younger and younger. What's your secret?
I have a Brother too. It's sitting in the closet collecting dust. Once in a great while I get it out and sew something not too complicated. Ginny, thanks for the baby pup pictures. They are so cute and you are a good person for taking them in. Love the names BTW. Susan, The rocky mts. above Montana in Canada are on fire too. We are thinking someplace on the NC coast. Maybe. Well Duh Roger, I create folders all the time for recipe links, newspapers, etc, but thought there might be a way to organize those into sub folders. You inspired me to run to staples and get one of those HP printers. It seems that our old HP isn't compatable with windows XP. Thanks for the tip on Staples ink. LMAO blind, hairy plams were drummed into our heads as young Catholics.Jackie, UGH! You are brave to do a garage sale. It would drive me nuts haggling with all those people. I just donate to the Salvation Army and take the tax deduction. House boat trip sounds like great fun. Take pictures and tell us all about it. Julie, Logan is so cute. Is he a good baby? Psst... get rid of that MSN and get something else. Have you tried USADATANET.com?? It's a great long distance service that started here in the north east and is now country wide. They offer internet service that is quite reasonable. Several people I know have it and like it. Last time I looked it was only about 10 bucks a month. Actually get CABLE, its fantastic! Shawnee, Thanks for the cheese biscuit recipe. I just wish I had time to try it. Maybe Thrusday. Humm, Maybe I'll make a fruit cobbler too. I agree that those kids in the recipe bb love their legal treats. Oh well. Off to hook up the new printer. Pam, post when you can. |

Susan, no thats all for DGK. Everybody's been fixed now!!! Well, except my gay one. LOL Don't think they'll adopt either. Kids about drive him crazy now that he's not around them anymore.
Linda, thats WHY I haven't got rid of MSN. I have so many fav that it would take me months to go into all of them and write down the website names. There is just no way to print them out or copy them. I've tried and so have several others. Off to lurk...Julie |
