SUNDAY, August 3
Good morning troopers,
More drizzle, fog and gooey humidity- they want SEVEN days of this at least! OY! If it's raining Tuesday morning, I won't drive for a wet 5 hours in a strange car...OY, OY! Anyhoo on the MS WINDOWS vulnerability- 1. It attacks ONLY Win XP, 2000, and NT so Ginny Loretta and I are safe (Shawnee too?)- and anybody with Win Me, 98, 98SE or (god forbid- Win 95). Linda, Julie, My guess is that you got the UPDATE automatically- assuming you have the AUTO always in. Here's a good thing for EVERYBODY to do periodically: START BUTTON>>>>WINDOWS UPDATE (Usually in the upper part of the box). Make sure you're oon line and click the WU button andMicrosoft will automatically determine everything you're missing. Add what you don't already have since it seems some downloads won't go on automatically. If you've never done it get ready for some BIG downloads. Jackie, I've been lucky and got all your pictures. I think it has to do with timing and the current load on PhotoIsland's servers. The pics come and go. Ginny, Your Phal (a stab) is gorgeous, and a perfectly focused and composed picture to boot. Yummy IO'm getting hungry for a nice steak at ARTHUR'S STEAK HOUSE in Hoboken: 2 size boneless sirloins: 16 ounce, and 24 ounce. The big one is just right for me. I'll bet many a purse in Myrtle Beach is carring the last 48 ounces of the free steak. Men will wear the baked potato in their Jockeys. Off to get 2 quick Security Updates from MS (See, you'll never tell WHAT you'll find.) Bye for now.

Mornin' gang,
Yesterday's eye candy was epicatt El Hatillo. I believe this is it's 2nd bloom season, and it is much larger and better than last year. 3 spikes, and a FRAGRANCE!! Woohooo! It is hanging in a wood slat basket, and roots everywhere. Happy plant! Today will see the yard cut. Hoping everyone is having a great day, off to lurk... |

Hi everyone,
Oh Roger, it's not that bad driving in the rain even in an unfamiliar vehicle. Just take it slow. You will be so very happy to get to the beach. Clean fresh air, a nice breeze, and tons of LOBSTER!! Dang I'll come and get you and Bob. I don't mind driving in heavy traffic all that much. I just curse every idiot out there. LOL ![]() Yes I got the update for XP automatically and always check for updates too. Magnificant bloom Ginny, thanks again. Hi Jackie, Shawnee, Loretta, Julie, Susan... Has anyone heard from Pam? I'm worried about her GD. Off to get dinner started.. More later. |

Roger, I already went in and downloaded the "patch" so it's done. I don't know if Linda did or not. We even had something on the news about this last night. I did just check the updates and none needed to be done. I get a popup when I go online telling me if I need updates and I always do them so figured I was updated but didn't know about this "flaw" microsoft had. Well, it's done so should be ok now. Also downloaded a free firewall along with Norton, I should be in good shape. Thanks for the info. I had never checked the update on the start button. I'm so computer illiterate.
Hope that rain isn't too bad for your drive. If so, just call LInda!! LOL Have a great time anyway. Just think of it as an adventure. Ginny, thanks for the pic again and the name. Do you order some or all of your orchids online? How do you get the different ones? What genus is it? Oh how i want to get into this. Some of my pots are so small, (3 in.) I have been watering some of them every couple of days in that hot weather. hard to keep the bark from drying out. I did soak them for 5 minutes like I read someplace and that helped a little. Cooled off now so we'll see. I want to get some different ones but best wait til I can see if I can keep these alive. LOL Jacki, I didn't insult you did I???? Hehehehe You do look great and never would've guessed 50. Keep doing whatever you're doing. Do you have a secret? Face creams, lifestyle etc.?? Linda, so did you look to see about the updates or did you download the "patch.?" I hope I didn't screw up. I can picture you driving Roger and Bob to their vacation spot and THEN NOT LEAVING!! LOL I'm worried about Pam too. Don't know if Mary was going to talk to her or not in Reno. When she returns, we can ask her. Sure hope all is ok. Hi to Shawnee, Susan and Loretta. Julie

Hi Y'all
Wonderfully cool morning here ....and quiet, too.....Bob went fishing, so Pup and I are enjoying the refreshing coolness and solitude.ZIP, in younger years, our main objective of trips was getting there. To Bob, it was like a race against time, MPG, etc. Now, because of his disabilities (and I HATE sitting for long periods), we stop about every half hour or so.....all freeways have off/on ramps We check out areas that we have whizzed by previously for years...wow, lotza interesting things to see off the beaten path. The Net provides the attractions of off-freeway towns, historical sites, etc. Hope your Bob is losing the cold symptoms.I have Windows ME, thankfully. Jacki, you could say that you have done 25..twice I think you look fantastic (and she has great long legs, folks!)Would love for you to post some pics of your unusual plants...like that glorious Sea Holly...oh, and that UGLY Lily LOL Ginny, you have sure been an inspiration in many ways, especially with your GH "Orkids." ZIP's Phonecia has given him tons of pleasure, and we all love the pics you both share. Before long, most of us will be growing them also. DSon will be returning from his AK vacation today, if his buddies can force him on the plane. LOL..He'd love to stay there! Guess he'll be down here next weekend with pics and tall tales. Gonna think about/mull over some Nuker recipes for awhile Montana, just a wild guess ....but you must love Lobster!!. Bob does too, but give me Butterfly Prawns anyday. Guess it must be an acquired taste, I don't like his salmon either. I hate the smell so much, I fix it outside.Hi to Loretta, Tink, Susan, Julie, and our favorite Lurkers. Y'all have a content day Shawnee

Hi to all the MMs
We received another letter from DSGS in Iraq. His platoon was involved in the deaths of Sadam's sons. He is up for a promotion to Sargent also. He won't be home until Feb. 2004. He says that when he gets here he is going fishing no matter what. He is coping he says and has a positive attitude but would much rather be home. Zip I have ordered my lecithin and Pantothenic Acid from the Puritians. That is a great sale. One of my friends on a limited income wants to try the lecithin so I have ordered (4) or 12 bottles of the 14 oz. Some for her and some for me. I am curious as to why you want the 30 ounce bottles. My thinking is to keep them fresher by using the smaller bottles. Great sale. Thanks a bunch for leading me there. Please don't let the rain keep you off the road. Sometimes the showers clear up or are spotty. You can always pull over and stretch if you feel a need. Hope you can find a way to communicate with us. Be sure to TAKE THAT CAMERA. Finally a pic of you in those speedos. Ginny that orchid is beautiful. It is so showy with that black background too. That camera takes great closeups. Our weather here has moderated to the 80s and low humidity even though we got another 1.7 inches of rain yesterday. Linda enjoy that pizza today. I will keep that on hand in my freezer from now on. I can give DH his turtle or oyster stew and I'll eat pizza. I sure have missed it. I was a BIG pizza eater in my former woe life. Julie I kept getting messages about the critical updates and kept putting them off and now today when I have the time they have not shown up. But I am operating on Win 98 as Zip remembers so that one about xp I am not worried about. Are you liking the xp set up? I know it is inevitable but I sure dread putting my old mind through it. Maybe they will change it xp II by the time I get around to needing a new pc. I will do that firewall. Shawnee come down this way please. We have a 450 MILE yard sale. It stretches from Covington, Ky through Ten and Georgia to Gadsden, ALa. It is its 17th year of "what will you take for it" It started as a way to lure travelers from Interstates 40 and 75 to rural communities. Thanks for the photo of you, friend and DGB. Jacki yes please more photos of those exotic plants. Are you an exerciser too? Retired? Susan hope you are enjoying that fancy limo and Birthday celebration today. How was the card game last night. Do you play for money. It just makes things interesting? Even if it is just pennies. Hi to Pam. Speedy recovery for your DGD Pam. Hope you are doing ok there. HI to the lurkers. Later, Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 08-03-2003 at 12:57 PM. |

Hello Magnificient Maintainers!
Just returned from the hairdressers, yes, it is so great to finally have a couple open on Sundays. Yes, it is officially DD's birthday today, trying to decide what to wear tonight, my dressy outfits are all "too big" for me now......yeah!!!! So I will feel comfortable no matter what I choose to wear! The Golf Club is very upscale and we only go there a couple of times a year, really cant afford their prices. The cuisine is so well done, excellent chefs there. Looking forward to this evening, although we have to leave Oliver on his own. That is why I like going over to their place on Saturday nights, we can take him along with us. He is doing well since his bout last week. He still has those patches under his front legs, on his ribs, itchy and seems to be spreading. I am still putting the monthly drops on, hoping this month we will see a change, nothing yet! The Vet said we should see a change in the second application and that was last weekend. The limo is coming at 7ish and then we will arrive at DDs, she doesnt know again. She thinks we are driving them to the Club. Her DH loves to surprise her! My next major job is to put on the ole make-up, the contacts in and get into some nylons and a dressy outfit! Ginny LOVED THE EYE CANDY! WHOOOOO! Gorgeous! Jacki, Fabulous Pic of YOU and your flowers. Finally if one persevers, and you did, ya got it posted! Tenacity is that your midlle name? LOL! You look fabulous. I am still techno-behind, so not there yet to do pic posting! One Day! Waving to ya'All, ![]() |

Hi again y'all
well, that Garage Sale pic from the paper is now online, so here it is.....I'm about 1/3 of the way from the Left(white shirt)...facing the camera (to the right of the red wagon.) This was our last stop, and I spotted the photographer across the street. I told the Gals it was time to get a move on, else we'd wind up on the front page of the Daily Rag......LOL...guess we didn't get moving fast enough! ![]() http://www.tdn.com/ Susan, hope your evening with DD and all will be smashing. Sounds devine! Jacki has posted a Muffin recipe which I haven't tried yet...but I KNOW her recipes are fantastic, cause she's a BULLDOG about getting them just right! LOL DGBrat and I have been house-hunting the last few days; she's testing the waters. Its kinda fun ![]() Going to a Casino tomorrow. Cross your collective fingers, please...LOL Shawnee |

Oh Wow Loretta, Glad your DSGS got those Bast@rds. He should be very, very proud. Can you imagine the money that would have been spent and the BS that would hit the fan if they were taken alive? Give him a high five from us. I sure hope he can come home soon. He did his duty and should be sent home NOW!!
Hi ya Susan, Hope you had a good time at the party. Carol, wow you made the Newspaper. How cool!! Isn't it fun to house hunt? Hopefully she will find something great soon. Casino???? Oh boy, have a wonderful time. Fingers are crossed for ya. LOL can you tell I like lobster?? My favorite is Alaskan King Crab legs though. To tell ya the truth, I HATE salmon. Julie, I did do the updates and the patch was taken care of. I tried to do the patch you talked of but it said I was already updated. I do look about once or twice a week. Off to lurk mode. |

Again.....Loretta, I had been thinking of your DGSon since I read your post earlier...then had brain fog when I started the last post. Of course, you KNOW how I feel about our Vets...and Montana is right on the money...those polecats needed to be skinned, and their carcasses given to the oppressed citizens, that they could drag those BASTARDOS thru the streets!
To each their own views on our Vets: mine is they are living thru HELL daily, and your DGSon is a HERO! Montana, looks like some of those wildfires are getting (or will get) some rain. Hope the accompanying Lightning strikes are benign. We supposedly will have rain in our area starting Tues. DSon is home now, near Seattle. He and his buds brought back 220 lbs of Halibut....have a feeling some will wind up in our freezer. Will be welcoming him and his vac pics this coming weekend I love him to pieces, but really, really like that guy! LOL ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 08-03-2003 at 11:17 PM. |

Loretta,
Tell your DSGS that we are all proud of him and thank him for his service to not only this country but the world. I know you'll be glad to have him back stateside come next year! Shawnee, hehe they caught ya red handed! Have fun at the casino! I like salmon, preferably with lemon, thank you! Susan, hope you have a wonderful time! Jacki, if you want to see my photo site, pm me and I'll give you the log in and pword. Otherwise, Shawnee or one of the others can give it to you too....I've forced them ALL to look LOL Julie, we get our orchids from a variety of sources. Some are local growers, we go to orchid shows, and we've been to some of the big gun greenhouses (ka-ching!) and found lots to bring home with us. We do lots of looking online, but not a whole lot of purchasing (and nothing moneywise online, just don't trust it!) Zip, hope your itchies have gone away! Linda, driving in the rain isn't bad, but the idiots sure get on my nerves too. Redneck Girl has learned some new words, and it isn't even winter yet LOL Pam, hope DGD is recovering well. Check in when you can!
