If your friend's goal is to lose weight, now is simply not the time to do it. She'll have to wait until after her baby is born.
However, it is possible to follow the maintenance level of Atkins, which is very healthy for a pregnant woman and could help her learn better eating habits and stay away from junk (such as sugar and other excess carbs). This could also mean she could keep her weight gain at a reasonable level while making sure her growing baby gets all the nutrition it needs. HTH! |

The effects of ketosis on the fetus are not known. I didn't do it either time I was PG.
