Hi everybody,

At the last minute I skipped the HENRY V last night. I just COULDN'T do a Shakespeare play extolling the value of going to war for "God and country." Bob said it was mixed but fun. Best scene was all the soldiers taking a nude communal shower on stage (gay director is noted for casting muscular "beefcake".) Hey, God knows, yah gotta make Shakespeare as interesting as possible.

Jewels,
What kind of a TV was that. Our WONDERFUL 8 year old Toshiba (30 inch)has a GREAT picture but is getting up in years. When I up it to a 36 inch, I don;t want to buy something that will quit in a few months- warranty or not.

Ohhh,
That boilerama that you Northwesterners are getting is really something....day after day. ANd Loretta and Ginny (Ginny worst) have gotten some dangerous storms.
Delightful for Montana and me.

To all a good day. Nothing planned here. Finalize the car rental.

Honey....I'm home.....

Whew, y'all, a couple of busy days! Monday I got my running done and got home to find a message on the machine from a 2nd cousin and family that I'd never met before. They have property that they will be building on @25 miles away and were checking on that as well as visiting her dad and the kids had a horse show. They are from Maryland and don't get out this way much. They are looking forward to building their house here and moving tho. They were driving around trying to find our place so they could visit for a while on Tuesday, but I was able to talk them in (haven't lost anyone yet!) and we got to meet them Monday anyways! Yesterday they came back for further visiting, and were leaving out last night. Soooooo, it's been a busy week so far. He is my Mom's cousin (biological) and just one of many branches in that family tree. We only found that side of the family a few years ago after quite a bit of research. Mom was adopted when she was @ 6 years old and never knew who her biological family was, names or otherwise. It sure was great to finally meet them!

Zip, I pm'd you on Phonecia...you're getting close to vacation time WOOHOO!

Julie, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I really do better normally, but it's been a bit hectic around here. Keep the ??s coming!

Shawnee, hope you get a break from that heatwave, sounds nasty and I know how it feels! Are you and Pup drinking your water? Had to take a couple days off from my little exercise regime I do, but back at it last night. Doesn't take long, but had to let something slide these last couple days!

Loretta, glad you finally got that rain. We got t-storms here, but no wild stuff. At work on Monday the power was out for the better part of 2 hours, so it made for an easy night....it was my slow night anyways, so I got to postpone work while the power was out and cork off like everyone else LOL

Linda, how are the plans coming for your vacation? Will the fires and all be a problem for where y'all are going?

Susan, how is Oliver doing? So sorry to hear the little guy is feeling bad. Have you gone to the dr with him yet? It's so hard when they feel bad and can't tell us what's wrong

Jacki, welcome! Are you just popping in or joining us for good?

Ok, I think I've caught up with all y'all, but let me know if I missed anything. Next week DR leaves to go back to his sweetie in Canada. I will actually be taking a day off work to run him to the airport and I'm still somewhat debating if I should use up a vacation day since all the trip will do is break up my sleep! Sheesh, gotta just do it....and enjoy a day off to myself, right?

Well, off to lurk for now and see what the rest of the world is up to!

Hi Y'all

Another barn-burner on the horizon

First, I must apologize to Jacki Somehow, I missed her post on the end of Monday thread. Thankfully, Goddess noticed it as she was catching up on posts.
Jacki, ol' Buddy, I'm sorry !! ...must have had on my tunnelvision.
Everyone, Jacki had foot surgery. The inability to get around real well, plus this heat, had caused a problem with her Maintenance cooking. So glad to see she is back with the program, and and has been dropping those "extra" few pounds

ZIP, LOL...I prefer my "nudes" (either sex) to have a little something on....even a fig leaf ...leaving a little for the imagination, which is usually better than the "real'' thing.

Goddess, how nice for you to meet long-lost relatives Sure hope y'all have common interests, etc....since they will be living not far from you. YES, take that vacation day! ....and yes, Pup and I are constantly slurping water, can't get enough of it. How's your FurKids doing?

Geez, this morning is getting away from me, better get out and water the potted stuff.

Be back later. Y'all enjoy your day.

Shawnee

Happy Wednesday to all

Julie about that DEEP DISH Pizza, this is what I did. I made the crust a day ahead of time. My pan is actually a 17 x 11 now that I checked it over. I refrigerated it. The next day I put the pizza together, sauce, cheese toppings. The only difference was the crust really. It just made it taste better and more Pizza like. I bet you could use that crust for lasagna, it was so thin and you could probably cut it into strips and the cheese would work well in lasagna. I find my Bag Balm at the Farm Store or a vet might have it. Too bad about that large tv going out on you already. I noticed when we got our new hot water tank, no longer a 10 year guarantee but a 7 year one. My sister and I could not talk on the messenger yesterday either. Some problem there.

Zip I guess that is one way to make Shakespear interesting. I could have skipped the entire event. I guess being in nursing for so long I don't see the naked body as being very pretty or exciting. A few clothes make it more interesting and leave the imagination do the rest.

Ginny good going on getting together with the cousins. That must have been an interesting time for all. DH has a cousin, first removed (as DD explained it to us) that has bought a place near us here. He will retire here next year and Dh has enjoyed his visits also. You have been and will be one busy girl for another while taking DR to airport. Take the day off and enjoy part of it just relaxing.

Sorry about that heat wave Julie and Shawnee. Most of our summers are just like that. Heat and humidity. I do look forward to fall by the end of it all. I think back about spring then and just waiting to plant and get the flowers growing and by the end of August or Sept I am getting tired of tending them as the poop out of the season. Shawnee do you have air conditioning there? It is a must in the south here and I don't know how we survived without it before. That heat is so draining.

Linda wish you had a kitchen store near you. Don't be afraid of ordering on line. I do it frequently without problem. My son, the computer guy sees no problem with it. Most of it is secure or make sure that what you are using is secure. Probably more secure than the cell phones. I have not tried Burger Kings salads yet, just Wendy's. I love their Chicken Manderin salad.
Trying out my new toys today. I wonder if there is a way to know what temperature the nuker bakes at compared to the oven. Research needed. My nuker muffin pan says it will only stand temps of 500F for a high.

Susan hope you are at the vet with Oliver. Hope the pup is ok.
We'll be here waiting for more news.

Must go and pick more tomatoes today.
Later, Loretta

Trying out the new silicone muffin pan. This was one recipe, 6 muffins but very nice size.

I cheated though and made them in the oven until I investigate the temps of oven/vs nuker.

My so much goings on here already.

Zip, the TV is a Sharp. Thought they were good. DH called the repair shop and they said try shutting if off and wait 20 minutes for the computer chip (? didn't know they had those) to reset. We did and it kept doing weird things like all of a sudden going through all the cannels. Not able to turn it off at times or both remotes wouldn't work at all. At first we couldn't even turn it off. Had to push power and both channel or volume (can't remember which) at the same time to turn it off. Anyway!!! It didn't work at first but seems fine today. We think it was just too hot in the family room. Can you believe that??? Our weather as you know is extremely hot and the fans don't cool it but just move the hot air around. If it happens again, I'll move the fan right over to the TV and cool the back and see if that helps. Weird stuff huh?

Jacki, a big
WELCOME!!!! I too must have missed your post. Post often.

Ginny, it is nice to meet family, even if it is distant. Thanks again for all your help with the orchids. Probably won't be the last of the ???'s. Now we have to get Linda going on her quest to find one.

Shawnee, how do you get your pup to drink. Mine usually doesn't drink much unless he runs around a lot and now isn't drinking much. Just laying around, poor thing. Getting his hair cut short tomorrow. Worry that he doesn't drink enough though. Guess the ole saying applies, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink.

Loretta, that is how I made my pizza too. It is good. Never though about lasagna though. Interesting!! Off to find the bag balm today between appt. MSN ok by last night.

Hi to Susan, Linda and Pam. I heard Pam's gd is in the hospital with double pneumonia. Wish her the best.

Thanks for the info on Pam, Julie. Pup is Diabetic, and her body craves water. If she drinks excessively, its a sign of trouble for her.

Pam, best wishes on a speedy and complete recovery for your DGD.

Loretta, YUM on those muffins!
I can't find a specific Conversion Chart that says like 375° is Power 7.

Here's some interesting stuff:

Hi Magnificient Ones!

Thank YOU for All your caring words on Oliver. He is back to himself today. He had a couple of BMs last night, so all systems go! I was intouch with the Vet all through the diarrhea and constipation. The girl on the phone said he will probably right himself within 48 hours, if not then to bring him in.

I asked about the Rabies worry, and she assurred me, that if he is up to date with all his shots, and he is, then I have no need to worry. I still do, as I know not all vaccinations are 100%........just vaccinates the majority of the "herd." Anymore funny business and I will be off like a shot to the VET!

Feeling 200% better now I know he is back to normal. I was at the office today since 8a.m this morning, DH was with him part of the day and he has been fine. He was glad to see me after work tonight.

So what's been happening here?

I saw Pams GD in the hospital.......sending positive thoughts for a speedy recovery! How old is her GD?

Shawnee, Are you managing to keep cool over there? Hope your PUP is keeping well......they are such a worry when they are not eh? Are your Roses surviving?

Julie, thats interesting info about the computer chip in the TV....whodathunk??? I dont know if the heat would affect that but ya never know with these techo-whiz things! Has Bo been for a haircut yet? Oliver is the same, he drinks very little, have to remind him.

Loretta, Yummy, that pizza is makin my tummy rumble, good idea about being able to use it in lasanga too! Those muffins look good enough to eat! I made the cocconut pie last night, so had a piece at work this aft at 3:30p.m when the energy levels are low, all around me were eating carbs, chocolate bars etc....It is So nice having my own treats to stay legal!

Ginny, Glad you are over the "Whirlwind" now and back with us! Thanks for your concern over Oliver. He is just perfect now!
What part of Canada is DR from?

Roger, We are enjoying similar weather up here as YOU and Linda are experiencing. What are we gonna do in January????? DH is planning for us to go down to FLA in November for our Christmas with DS and then again Feb/March to get the long winter over with.
Gotta get my quotient of Sunlight from somewhere....otherwise become a dull girl!
I did not know that Shakespeare had "skin flicks" inserted between the lines. "A Rose by any other name, would smell as sweet." "All the Worlds a Stage and every man and woman has a part to play." I guess they were just playing out there "parts."(no pun intended)

Linda, had a good day at the office today! Some days are better than others eh? Do you do all your 8 hours in one day, or is it staggered? Glad to hear you are enjoying this Gorgeous weather! I see you havent posted yet today, maybe this is YOUR workday!

Dare I say this, here is a "Foot" Note to Jacki,
WELCOME JACKI Wishing you tender tootsies after the foot surgery! Hop on over to the 'puter and post often! Congrats on getting those extra pounds off!

Hi everyone,

Roger, I really don't blame you for not going to the play but darn I wanted to see a picture of you with those fly paper "earings".

So when are you leaving? Hope you can avoid rush hour on that darn turnpike.

Ginny, it's good to see you. How nice that you have some relatives to get to know. Hopefully you can develop a nice relationship with them.
What knocked the power out? Bad storm? Hope you enjoyed goofing off for two hrs. It's nice every once in a while.

I'm really worried about those fires. Glacier Park is closed and the fires are really roaring in the heat and wind out there. We were going to spend a week in Glacier after 2 weeks or so in Missoula. We shall see.

Shawnee, MY GOD!! Is it ever going to cool down out there? So many people in your neck of the woods don't have air conditioning and must be really suffering. Especially the elderly.
Good lord I wonder how many favorites we can save on these computers. I am saving your sites like crazy. Hope I don't run out of space
What are you and pup doing to stay cool?

Loretta, I haven't a clue about micro wave temps. I'll have a look around in some of my cook books to see if it lists anything.
What flavor did you use in your wonderful looking muffins? Mine always look so small and almost flat. They don't seem to rise much.
Humm, I hadn't thought about using the pizza crust as lasagna noodles. Thanks for the tip.

Julie, Wow I didn't realize that tv's needed it cool too. Maybe you should order an air conditioner on line. Check out the wal mart site.
I get my Bag Balm at either Wal Mart or Agway.

It's so sad about Pam's GD. Hopefully that little thing will heal well and quickly.

Susan, Glad your day wasn't too bad. Mine was from HELL!
Picnics are a huge pain and I got stuck cooking!! I must have cooked a thousand burgers and hot dogs. UGH!! If I never see one again, it will be too soon. No I don't usually do all my hrs in one day. I usually do two 4 hr days sometimes more than 4.

Jackie, glad to have you with us. We are a pretty nice group if I do say so myself. Post often

Beautiful day here except for cooking for several hours on the hot smokey grill. I did get to sit and enjoy a plain burger and dog but there was nothing else low carb there, NATURALLY. Another of our doctors stopped to tell me she totally agrees with Atkins especially for diabetes and lipid control and is on it herself even though she dosen't need to lose weight. See the word is getting out there.

Lost a filling and will have a teeth cleaning and repair tomorrow afternoon. UGH!

Off to lurk a bit.

Hi Jacki and Linda,

Jacki, the "footnote" was just the last paragraph to YOU! I did not mean the whole posting......although I do go on a tad eh???
Excuse my sense of humour it is British.....nuf said eh?

Wow, Linda guessed as much that your were working today! Were you sheltered from the Sun and the heat, while you were BBQing? Tough working conditions! Were your "charges" all safe? No falls today? Those Fires are such a waste, hectres of trees, not to mention the poor wildlife! Hope they get them under control before you go!

Have a good evening All!

Shawnee thanks for those nuker sites. Gee I was looking at the shopping and the same silicone muffin pan I got for 11.99 plus my senior discount was $14.99 on that one kitchen ware site.
Both of those sites were good ones with lots of nuker info.
Thanks. You sure know how to use that search engine.

Now we have two tenderfoots, Jackie and Julie.

Susan so happy to hear that Oliver is ok. You know we worry right along with you.

Linda too bad about cooking all of those burgers and dogs. Must have been a strenuous day for you, 8 hours. Linda those muffin holes in the slicone muffin pan are very deep. It was just one recipe of the flaxseed cinnamon muffins, but it made just those 6 muffins. Fine though instead of eating 2. My DH is wondering what happened to the muffin top. I guess I really have him confused now after showing him the muffin top pan too. He is wondering if I am going to put the two together.

Later

Pam my thoughts are with you and the family. Hoping and praying for a quick recovery for DGD.

I'm not sure if my TV was too hot or what. All I know is it got better. Tonight is worse than last night and no problem. hmmmmm It is still 85 in this house and it's 9:45 p.m.!!!!!!! Grumpy!! Not sure what the final high was but it felt hotter and lasted longer. yesterday was 93 but Shawnee has me beat at 100.

Someone asked about Pam's dgd. I think they said she was 5 years old.

Loretta, so now I'm a tenderfoot huh? That toe is doiing better. I actually wore a pair of shoes today without a lot of pain. Got the bag balm and did the soaking scraping and bagged it. LOL

Dentist was so nice to me. Must have heard I was really upset. He is doing some changes overnight so we'll see. Had to leave it there so am back in my ole comfy denture. Could eat dinner with no problem tonight. Just went in and told him I hoped he could fix them before I pay for them.

Tomorrow my fluff gets groomed and will he be happy to get some of that fir off. Back to the dentist too. Julie
