Monday July 21
Hey all,
Another weekend gone by and back to real life. Had company yesterday, a couple who are also orchid and furkid people. This was there first time here, and we had a great visit. That brings my total up to 6 I think that I've met from the internet. Pretty cool, huh! Still a little tender from *gasp* sunburn acquired mowing the yard on Saturday. Love that aloe vera gel, would be in trouble without it. Gotta run into town this morning.... Hope all are doing well here! Have a great day, |

Good Morning Ginny and all that follow!
A cloudy yet sunny day up here today, we had some rain over night and I think more is expected. Gotta get my nose in the books agin today! Thanks again for all your input on the "other" thing! I am leaving it well alone for now, till the proverbial dust settles, then I can usually make a decision! hopefully....nuf said. Thanks for your patience with me. Ginny, yep the weekends do seem such a contrast from the work week. I agree that Aloe Vera is a good buddy to have after a burn. I saw a guy with one of those umbrella hats mowing the lawns at the Arboretum last week, it is a large park and they have several guys on ride on mowers tending the grass. Shawnee, I tried to gather all the ingredients together for the Pork, dont have the sesame oil, or seeds, or green onions in. Did you make it in the Oven? in this weather? I wonder if I could try it in the slow cooker? I'll be out later today, so will pick up the sesame oil and seeds etc.... Felt soooooo good to weed the garden agin yesterday! I would like more perennials if time permits I want to get over to the Garden Centre this week! Loretta, oh yuk, smelly butt ends! On your carpet? What were they thinking? Hope it has all aired out for you by now!Linda, hope all is well with YOU and Gerard. Did you have the Moms over yesterday? Thank you for the info on Soy and Thyroid problems for my PG Mom. Seems lots of controversy! Roger, getting your base tan for yours Hols? Wow, a new swim suit and 5lbs less, congrats! You are on the count down now to July 28th are you packing something daily? Julie, Glad you are back in one piece. I'll bet Bo was ecstatic to see you! Lots of wet kisses, I'll guess! Hey, Pam, ya busy agin! I guess you are enjoying Curves instead of spending time on the 'puter getting a good workout.....I wish! I am so reluctant to, "Just Do It."One Day I will have this under control. Good for You that you are doing it now! I'll sign off for now! Hope to be back later, no TMs tonight!! ![]() |

Hi Y'all
....a quick one for now, off to the store before it gets too hot....expecting 95° today. Susan, yup, when your brain is on overload with info, its best to let the dust settle. I'd try the Crockpot for that Pork...I did it in a pot on the stove, cause I was too lazy to dig out the crock. OVEN???..LOL..No way. Am envious of your rain...(Did I say that, after complaining for months about it??) LOL Ginny, glad you had a good weekend, we know you deserved it, especially after your last few work days! ![]() Bless Aloe Vera!.....and a mix of vinegar and water in a spray bottle sure feels good to mist on the skin too. Loretta, are ya ready to settle back into your contentment? Yes, I made those coco-cheese balls or whatever they were called...with the cocoa, they taste like Dark Choc. Montana, good luck finding those Nuker pans. To all, enjoy your day. Shawnee |

Hi to all today on this wonderful quiet "Company Free" Monday
Susan not the cigarette butts were not on the capet but the concrete floor of the CARPORT. I would have had DH's gun out after them if they did that in the house and they would have a heck of time for a return visit. I did not allow them to smoke in the house itself. The smell has finally left for the most part since I had a fan blowing out on the porch. Hope you enjoy that pork roast. I am anxious to try the cream cheese crepes. Ginny glad you are making new friends with common interests. You might even end up with some great Orchid trades or new varities. You probably have every different orchid there is already. But there might be something else out there. Zip you are busy packing and getting ready. Don't forget that Speedo and most important the camera. Send us some shots so we can enjoy it too. Have fun this pre vacation week too. Linda there was an article the other day about shoes in house and some people provide their guests with paper booties or straw sandals. I want my shoes on otherwise it seems like I am stubbing my toes or dropping things on them. There seems to be quite a lot of people requesting shoeless guests. You are right in style there. Shawnee hope you get unbusy there soon and you quit losing your posts. Hi to Julie too and Pam. Later, Loretta |

Hi everyone,
Ginny, it's great that you met some new internet friends and had such a good time. Ouch! You really need to protect your skin from the sun. I've seen far too many skin cancers in my day to even go out without sunscreen and other protection. Hopefully work will have settled down this week for you. Susan, letting the dust settle then making a decision is best. Wishing you the best. More flowers?? Gee I didn't think the growing season was long enough to plant this late. We are about 3 hrs SE of you I think and by Sept. we can have frost! We did have the moms here yesterday and DH behaved himself. He didn't get into a big debate with his mom over religion or anything. LOL He can be soooo bad. Shawnee, It's still HOT there? Guess the weather channel had it wrong. It showed cooler temps there on last night's map.My grandmother ( German/French) always did her meats in a pot on the stove after browning them. I loved the texture. Gotta go find that chocolate/cheese ball thingy. I forgot to save it to my documents. Loretta, I used to bump my toes too but after seeing what was under and in carpets and all the little scratches on hardwood floors, the "NO SHOES" rule went into place. It's amazing how clean the house is now. So far my toes are fine ![]() Julie, You let us know ASAP what the doctor says about that blood. Are you prone to bladder infections? Wishing you the best. Roger, yes don't forget to take lots of pictures to share. Why did I think you were leaving today? Pack lite, you really don't need a lot of things. I learned the hard way to just take the necessary. There are always laundry facilities around, and we have a little travel iron. It's a hell of a lot easier to unpack when you get home. Hey PAM, where are you girl? We are getting worried. As soon as this storm passes I'm off to Sally's and a few other places. More later. |

Hi again
Got that grocery shopping out of the way. Gonna do a Stir-fry for dinner. LOL Montana ..maybe it was our Coast temps ya saw, which will be lovely mid-seventies. Locally, much higher..TV guy says expect a hot 95, and this site says 91http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/p...uweather&day=1 ...either is too much! My Dutch/German Mom was also big into big pots on the stovetop. Gonna go to Curves this afternoon. That will be all the movement I want for the rest of the day. Julie, what's up with your bloodwork?????? ZIP, are you packing your kefir and sesame oil? Montana, from you and Loretta, I'm into yogurt, and from ZIP..the sesame. Yes, Loretta...I'm slowing down ..and don't worry bout that ladder; this is a one-story house. If and when it ever cools down, I'll be dragging it out to the front gutters. They look disgusting (they are white) when they have pollution/crud/mold ikkies on them.SO, does anyone have a GREEN lawn??? not me.later Shawnee |

Loretta, LOL on having all the orchids
DH would say I'm working my way there!Shawnee, my weeds...er...yard is green, and growing like crazy. Trade ya! Linda, wish I could get away with the NO SHOES policy here, but it'll never happen. Susan, letting the dust settle is a good idea. Let your mind clear, then make a decision. Wallyworld tonight after work...hopefully it will not be too busy! |

Hi everybody,
Just put the kefir to sleep (with exactly a gallon made to get us through the week.) I'll miss it while gone, but the problems with dragging the gear would be insurmountable. Got HORRIBLE news...Bob MUST be in New York August 4. I don't know HOW we're going to work it out. Thats SMACK IN THE MIDDLE of the vacation.... Well. if we have to round trip an extra zillion hours driving so be it..<but UGGGHHH!> Maybe I'll just plunk him on a round trip bus in Boston! Air today is poisonously smoggy, hot and swelteringly humid. Just like my mood. Roger

Hi Magnificient ONes!
I had to run out to return a video, watched "Basic" last night with John Travolta and Samuel Johnson. Was a DEA/Army type of movie with lots of twists! Has anyone seen "Tears of the Sun" with Bruce Willis? I plan to rent that next weekend. Shawnnee, I picked up some Sesame Oil, wow $7.99 for 375ml,small bottle yikes, says extra virgin, the only one I could find, except for the toasted oil. It was the same price for half the amount. I hope I have bought the right oil, Roger, Shawnee??? I have slow cooked the pork all afternoon, I will fry the green onions in the sesame oil and add the seeds for serving, cant wait! Thanks again for the recipe and the site! Can't keep up with the Dutch/German/French backgrounds. 400 years back, 1600's in my Dads family we had a Dutch or German Sailor marry a girl from Plymouth.......a great, great, great grandmother. He settled in England and the rest is history! I have not made the choc balls yet! Linda, About the garden. Just looking for perennials, so plant them and a nice show for years after, not annuals. Yep our season is about the same as yours. October, roll up the sidewalks! Loretta, LOL about you getting your DHs gun after the smokers if they butt out on your carpet! What cream cheese crepes??? Did I blink and miss that one?Ginny. let us know what bargains ya get at Wallyworld tonight. Hope your baby skin is healing! Julie, whats going on with your Bloodwork???? Let us know, how you are doing! Roger, Pack a little each day, then on the last day, take the unnecessary items out. Or, do you make a list, then trim the list before packing! ........nuf said! I hope I bought the right Sesame oil. ![]() |

Shawnee, YIKES on those high temps. I guess the map temps I saw was for the coast. Bummer.
We had some really nasty storms blow through here late this afternoon. 60 MPH winds and trees down in surrounding communities. Our power stayed on thankfully. So do you make your own yogurt? It's really easy and so much better than store bought. Susan, I see. DUH! my brain wasn't functioning I guess. We would plant perennials but I'm sure the deer would have a feast. We haven't rented a movie in years. Maybe this winter. Oh Roger, what a shame Bob must work. I would put him on a train or bus and stay put. Why don't you just make some yogurt at the beach home. It's easy. Just pack some starter and buy some half and half. Keep your head down. You may get that monster of a storm that passed through here. There may be more throughout the night too. Ginny, Wally world is usually not busy late at night. It's my favorite time to shop there. LOL I trained mine to take off shoes here. Want some help? Julie, come on girl CHECK IN. We are getting concerned. Pam ![]() |

Well, shoot. It's been crazy busy again up here. I'm still with y'all, although can't post as often as I'd like during the summer. DGbrats, at least DGranddaughter brats, plus older DD will be here thru Aug. 8th. The American Century Golf Tournament was last week-end, up the road from our place. Rick Rhoden won again. Michael Jordan stood tall, LOL!

Ok, finally got rid of my company and EARLY too. Yippee skippy!!
To explain a little without going into detail, (me, not go into detail?) I came down with a dandy bladder infection quite suddenly while in Seattle yesterday. (Sunday) Had to run to a drugstore and get the med for numbing the urinary track. Today got some antibiotics and am fine. I haven't had one of those for about 4 or 5 years. Nice to know everybody missed me. Been so busy but now things look like I can settle and rest up for awhile. Am trying to get into meditation to reduce my stress and change my attitude towards my DD mainly. Ginny, I finally got some orchids. Safeway had a big one on sale for $20.00 Its dark mauve/purple. No name on it. Two real small one called Phalaenopsis. They are white and got them for $2.00. Another one is maybe 8 inches and called Epidendrum. So I'll give it a good try growing them. Need to go on the search and look up growing advice. Any help will be helpful Ginny and zip. Take care of that sunburn. Aloe is wonderful and saved my butt many times. Susan, of course you should think about your decision making. Only you can make it and time will help. Bo was ecstatic of course. Wet kisses everywhere. Today when our company was leaving he thought we were leaving again and let me tell you...he went bonkeres, growling and barking at the suitcases. Kinda funny but he loves us and sure doesn't want us leaving again. Shawnee, yes we have a green lawn. We are on septic here and don't have to pay the awful sewer rates on the amount of water you use. My DH put in a sprinkler system a few years back and boy do I love it. Heat is something else, huh? It was only about 90 here today but is cooling off good tonight. Loretta, enjoy the "no company" day. I don't know how you do it. I'm an ex smoker and I'm a big mouth when someone invades my breathing space. Good for you making them go outside. Linda, did you find the chocolate cheese ball thingie? Let me know where. Urine looked better today. Course the meds make it bright orange. They wanted a urine sample at the lab for diognosis. Already on antibiotics. Peeing blood scares the livin' daylights out of you. Roger, that is so bad about Bob having to go into work. Just one day?? The bus sounds good to me too. Probably not to him though. Tink, so glad to see you here. Busy busy person. Take some time for yourself. Julie
