MAINTAINING MONDAY, July 14

Hi gang,

Some SERENDIPITY today. Last night we heard from the guy with the Fire Island Beach house. It's a nice place with a pool but not oceanfront (which is ok) and a two story separated into 3 units. He rents out a 1 BR lower and a 2 BR top floor with surrounding deck....very nice top. Anyhoo, he want $2000 a week for the nice 2 BR and $1200 for the One BR- that's more than we wanted to pay considering even buying an EGG out there costs a fortune.
Just before beddy bye we get an e-mail from a dear, dear cousin of Bob.
DO WE WANT THEIR BEACH HOUSE?
Wow.....Do we EVER!

Particulars: it's on the beach on Plum Island North of Boston and a teeny bit South of the New Hampshire border. We'll rent a car and have a ball with the house and beach and an in depth exploration of Boston (artistic and historical; perhaps a drive out to Provincetown on Cape Cod and a little side trip onto the Maine coastal area.
YYYYYAAAAAAYYYYY! Only chucnk of change will be an 18 day car rental.
Has me up at 4AM in eager anticipation. On

MEESE:
No wireless on the optical.
Linda, no need to anticipate mouse cleaning, when it needs it, it NEEDS it. I usually clean it JUST before I'm ready to bounce it off the wall from incessant skipping!

Roger

A quick hello here.

Roger you have some fabulous friends. Are you going to be taking that pc or laptop with you to the island or are you going to get away from it all???.

Hard to believe this, one of the guests wants my nest. He wants to sleep out there (there is a couch) where he can hear the birds and smell the wonderful country aromas. He is a city boy, Houston, tx. Oh well the best laid plans of men and clean mice.

Yes Shawnee we want clean mice.

Guests have gone off to a Harley Motorcycle shop for a while. NO word from other DSD yet.

Sorry to keep boring you with my story.

DS #1 will be back today to help me paint entry door after water skiiing with friends. He is a doll. DS #2 busy with new wife and job hunting after water skiiing too. Their friends are staying at former resort that ex and I owned for several years.

Later if possible.

Hi Y'all

ZIP, time to shop for new Speedos and sunscreen! WOW, what a deal!
Thanks for the TIP on holding that Scroll wheel down; learned something new there.

Goddess, thanks for the kitchen pics...tickled for ya that you have soooo much more usable space. Your DH sure does deserve time off from that project.

We had a nice lil rain yesterday...Pup went right outside and laid in it. Back to HOT today.

Saturday was fun, a little Fair thingy around noon...saw some gorgeous ponies and the usual offerings of a small country fair. That night, off to a Summer Festival on the banks of the Columbia...kinda like a carnival. We sat on a grassy area and watched fireworks exploding over the river. Even better, the People-watching was spectacular...one of my fav hobbies

Montana, LOL...you've come a long way, Baby! ...asking Susan for Recipes, you've become a Major Player in the Cooking arena!
Glad to hear y'all are squaring away plans for that Montana trip.

Loretta, sounds like you are enjoying your time with Company Keep on keepin' on...
EDITED: Oh, Loretta...NOT FAIR, giving up your Nest!

Susan, Great that you had "Dirt Time", its good for the Spirit, huh?
Lucky you, that DSIL is an excellent cook, and y'all can have these fine times together. My DS is fantastic in a kitchen also, but he lives farther away. May not get to sample his wares again til Thanksgiving. He will be vacationing soon in Anchorage vacinity; hope he remembers to come home from there...its too easy to fall in love with all the beauty of those glaciers, bays, and mountains.

Tink, I see you are keeping your trampoline and Curves running at top speed. Good for you!

Hope things are going as well as can be, given the circumstances..for Julie. I was sure thinking of her and that long drive.

Made those Muffins in the Nuker...the biggest challenge on that is
to NOT overcook them, since nuked stuff continues to cook for a bit after its removed. Just takes about 2 minutes max for thorough cooking.

later, All.

Shawnee

Loretta,

Unsure of computer on vacation.

NO, I don't want to be without one that long- it can come in VERY handy with our itinerary. First I'll see if CUZ has one at the house (and TV, VCR and cable). If not I'll try to talk somebody into lending me an old laptop (I never had the urge to get one.)
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't want to drag my backup desktop and monitor up- even I'm not that anal!

LOL Roger I was going to ask you about computer access at that wonderful vacation beach house. So how many bedrooms and what time do you want us to arrive..? Boston is so nice with lots to do. I just LOVE Provincetown. They have the best, on the beach, lobster houses. Just go in and order. They steam them fresh and you take them, corn on the cob, butter and a few other things out to a picnic table. It's just heaven!!
How did Bob luck out having such great relatives? You are going to have a wonderful time.

Humm, I wonder if my mouse is dirty. Every so often, the darn page scrolls by it self very rapidly.

Loretta, gee what a bummer!! Did you say "yes" to giving up your nest? I would rather give up my own bed to have a bit of privacy in a nice nest.
Your story isn't boring at all. Keep us updated. BTW how long are they staying?

Shawnee, There is nothing like sitting on the bank of some water and watching a beautiful fireworks display. We used to have something called "ya gotta ragatta" on the Susquehanna, with an Orchestra, fireworks, booze, food...which was wonderful till some guy drowned in the river after he fell out of his boat. DH had to drag the river for his body.. Lot's of gallows stories there. Better not post them though.

So how close are those forest fires to you? Damn those things frighten me to death.

Major player in the cooking arena?? HA! It's nice that you think so but unless it's easy, I just don't bother too much.
So you made the blueberry, flax muffins? Humm, maybe I'll try them in the nuker too.

Ginny, the Harry Potter Book? So how was it? I am more into true crime or mystery. Used to love Steven King in his early days.
Don't work too hard.

Susan, where in the sam hell are those recipes? I have some great curry sitting here doing nothing. I'm begging you on my knees, please call your DSIL!

Pam, are you enjoying some nice weather and keeping busy? We are still waiting ( tapping foot) to see a pic of that dress.

Poor Julie, I don't envy her these next few days. Hopefully she will have a safe trip.

Yahoo mail is giving me FITS!! It sometimes won't let me sign in and said "problem accessing your acct." and sending report. When I can get in, the screen looks different and won't let me use the bold, colors or any other features in the reply field. I get an error thingy on the bottom of the page. Gerard's is fine and I was able to get in through his acct and mine was fine
Wrote to them and am waiting patiently for a reply. Ugh!

Later gang.

Hi Guys!

Just getting here. Had work all day, yuk! at the office!

Then, I had a speech at TMs tonight, blew them away with West Nile Virus......Opening attention grabber to arouse the audience, was, "Something Wicked this Way Comes!" got great evaluations, it sure boosts the self esteem. So now I can relax, just have to start preparing for the Prenatal Group on Thursday night, so long since I talked about Labour and Delivery......gotta review all that stuff again!

Linda DSIL buys these cans of special curry sauces. He buys the best and leanest of meats, cubes them, fries an onion in a little olive oil till softened, then adds to the meat, cooks the meat, slow and long, in the oven at first at 350, then down to 200 when he adds the sauce. I know he cheats a little, but the sauces are fabulous they are called Patakas Sauces, all different varieties, made in the UK, go figure!
Hope that helps!

Shawnne, Yep, I Sooooo much enjoyed playin in the dirt, sure is good for the spirits. I hoed lots of weeds, then had to get down there and pick them out of the soil and into a waiting bag. I was wearing gloves but still like picking up fine weeds. All in all it was very cathartic, took my mind off preparing for my Speech.
Glad ya had a good time at the Festival. DH and I love people watchin too, on the beach in Florida, we set ourselves up with our two little chairs and some reading material, and every once and a while we glance up and people watch.....its all free, and Fun!

Loretta, dont give up your space! You sure need somewhere to go!

Roger, Wow, sounds like a wonderful trip. DS used to go to Provincetown lots when he lived up here. He stayed at those beautiful BBs. One year a group of them rented a beach house with a house boy/maid/chef.........poor babies!

Reading but not fully comprehending all the "puter talk, I too have a mouse that jumps or something when I am typing goes up to the other line and inserts itself right there. Glad we had this talk, getting to know whats goin on in Cyber space now!

I read that since the advent of the Silicone Chip that the SARS virus was located in a matter of weeks, where the AIDS virus took almost a year. Just shows the difference in the technology we have today. Marvellous........no wonder I feel left behind!

Ginny, try to enjoy your shift......I know that feeling. I had to go today too!

Waving to Pam,
Thoughts are with Julie,

Tuesday, July 15...THE IDES

Good morning friends,

Up at 4:15 AM again. Why does this ALWAYS happen when I go into calorie control mode????? Like clockwork! I've given up fighting it and try my best to use the time productively.

Susan, you keep yourself busy, good girl. One of theses days they next virus will destry half the population of the planet ("not with a bang but a whimper")...mark my words. My feeling will be it will be something that escapes from Fort Detrick, Maryland.

I buy the PATAK curry pastes all the time...Vindaloo my fave for a spice curry base- NEVER use that horrid yellow powder jokingly called Curry Powder in the USA unless all you want is to color some rive yellow. A very similar product is the LAXMI line of curry pastes. Ohhh, I'm gonna miss that Foodmart International!

Found government I bonds to dunk some money into. Currently over 4% with no committment beyond 6 months. Trouble is the law says $30,000/year is tops but I can at least start some of these checks from closed CD's earning a little something.

Off to the kitchen and the EMPTY coffee pot waiting for a little "lovin"

And YES, I MUST go to Modell's and get some SPEEDOS!

Roger
