Good morning,

Status quo on the legs. Will squeeze in to see PCP this morning to get some bloodwork done.
We cancelled tonight's theater and dinner plans because I have a surgeon's appointment tomorrow and we are easily going over 100-110 on the THI index- it will be the worst day of the year. One trip into the City per day is definitely ENOUGH!

Horrible wrinkle: They polyurethaned the floors of the newly vacant apartment next door. Since it abuts our bedroom and there's only drywall between apartments (luxury, right????), the solvent vapors crept in at the slight seam at the bottom, rendering our apartment uninhabitable. All I could do was run my large window fan all night and keep my place at a very slightly air pressure, preventing any air infiltration in our direction.
It worked BUT it never went below a steamy 80°...not comfortable.

This morning after breakfast I will run a caulk bead at the floor seam and see if that makes a good seal. We CANNOT do with fans today- NO WAY. The'd find two dessicated corpses by tomorrow. If the seam doesn't work, I'll let the fan un on low with the bedroom tightly closed...and we will live/eat/and sleep in the LR.

Enjoy Yourself, It's Later Than You Think

Roger

Rise and Shine Magnificient Ones!

Another scorcher up here! TG for A/C!

I have a question for You, to settle a friendly argument. I said Sharon Stones hubby was bitten by a "dragon" does anyone know the type, I thought it was like Kymoto, not sure of spelling. DD says it was an aligator!

Roger, what a complex situation. Glad YOU are on top of it, to interpret to docs! Keep the system purged and clean.

Ginny, ((((HUGS)))) to DPup! I think the worst about a trip to vet is when they keep them. I know that totally stresses Oliver. She will be Sooooo glad to see you!

Linda, wow definitely Jackie! Did you wear those pillbox hats that she made famous? I did even in the UK to go to Mass in. I heard an elderly Aunt, of a Catholic friend, who is 88 watches Mass every morning on TV and puts on her Hat out of respect still! I thought that was so cute! HOpe you manage to get back to Rome and Greece again!

Shawnee, Thanks again for all the great info. I just need more time to read stuff. I do get so side tracked too!

Loretta, the Pork turned out delicious, still have some left, good for lunches now. Yep, so tender and juicy! I served with fresh steamed brocolli and butter. Wow, ya enjoying the Cauliflower all great cruciferous veggies, to chase away the ol colon Ca!

Julie, welcome back! Sorry to hear about the sadness of losing a family member soon! Advance Congrats on the arrival of a new member, seems like God has a plan here! Ouch! with the corn.

Pam, glad you managed a short post!

Just did a quick copy and paste, as I started todays thread but didnt finish in time Roger!

Found it myself! Yikes, cant believe it. I found what I was looking for right away with no side tracks. It was a Komodo Dragon! I was right! I usually enter words into google and nothing even remotely connected comes up! Getting better on this 'puter!

Have a Good One!

Morning all,

Poor Roger, you're life just keeps gettting more and more complicated. You have had it!! Time for some good luck here. Sure hope the caulking helps. Maybe at the top of the wall too? Good luck with the Doc's too. You need some good sound advice about getting well. Seems all the meds have just made you worse from the beginning. What do you do? They are suppose to make you better!! Life sucks sometimes. Can I say that here? We'll find out.

Ginny, bet you and your pup will have a wonderful reunion. I can't imagine how I would be feeling right about now.

Susan, computers are sometimes so frustrating. I too have difficulties. I especially hate the RR here. I can never find anything. Even if you have the name of the recipe. Must be an easier way. Just keep searching and you'll get better. Sometimes you just have to find the right search word.
Don't know anything about Sharon Stone's hubby.

Linda, YOU DO look like Jackie!! How long ago was that? Great picture. It looks like a model to me. Take that as a compliment sweetie.

Loretta, you are having a bunch of company. Do you like to entertain or is it just happening all at once?? Hang in there and take one minute at a time. My motto but never follow it! I'm a worry wort as you know. Right now I'm trying not to do the "what if's."

No word from my sister. Talked to my brother last night after he had talked to her. Not much change.

Shawnee, any more toms? Mine are ripening very slowly, but are ripening. Lots of cherry toms coming on. YUM!! Cool weather today. Of course, just because I want to go to the farmer's market!!

Pam, hi to you. Sure wish you'd post more.

Julie

Hi to all

Zip you sure keep running up the health problems. I know you will be glad to see an end soon to all of your problems. Than the vapors. Those varnish vapors are really killers. Not a good time of year to be doing that either for them with the humidity. Guess they must though to keep the next tennant attracted. Do what you can there but they should be less today unless they give it another coat.

Julie I sure am happy to hear that your back has quit bothering you for now. Hope it stays that way. We do get a lot of company. DH has 6 living children. One of his sons died young and one of that son's son's was killed in a car accident, years ago. I have 3 sons. Plus our other siblings and friends so it just seems and IS a lot. One of the DSD is looking to move in this area or Ill. She now lives in Ca. I had a good idea today. I will by some pre prepared things like lasagne. For us to go and get food is about a 50 mile round trip to fast food. There are a few local resturants but DH is not that keen on going out to eat. He can make his Hot Italian Beef that they like. Not sure how long each are staying except for my DS who will only be here a day or two if he does not change his mind.

Susan glad your pork was so delicious. Last time I made a bonless pork loin I ate it as leftovers for several meals. It was handy and tasted good. How are the pregnant ladies doing?

Shawnee hope the DGB is ok there. What a sweet GK to go along to Curves with you when she was not at par. Boy some of my plants need some tlc. My one rose bushes that is doing so well, has a fungus according to one of my neighbors. I bought some fungus spray and will give it a shot. Toms are ripening slowly. MIght have another by the end of the week. Hate going in the forest too far because of the chiggers. They LOVE me.

Linda I hear ya on the weather. We sure get whinney about it, I always do. I can count on myself. We mostly are staying indoors because of the heat. IT is like winter in reverse. Now too hot out there. 90s with high heat indices. Wonder how much will be covered on your DD car? Will they put in a new motor? She will need a car to run around in for the mean time. How inconvient.

Hi Pam, we know you would be posting if you had the time. Hang in there and things might slow down for you soon.

Need to get out to my plants.

Later, Loretta

Busy day here. Picked up Tyke at dr.s and she was ecstatic to see us. Now happily ensconed in the kitchen once again with her brother and sister.

Gotta run to get to work.

Hi Y'all

....gonna post a few of today's pics before trekking off to Wallyland.

Ginny, so glad for y'all that Tyke is home

Here's one of the David Austin Roses... Eglantyne... that always reminds me of Susan...

Critters had a slight dispute over planter box bench ownership; Pup usually lets Cherokee rule the roost about most things, but NOT when her BENCH is involved! LOL

King Cherokee, Ruler of the Roost

Oh, yeah ???...OFF, OFF, wicked cat!

Nanner, nanner, nanner! Queen Pup is back on the throne!

Be back later, everyone TRY to avoid any more mishaps, illnesses, and Murphey for awhile..please.
( I broke a bathroom faucett handle this AM...Bob told me not to touch ANYTHING else for the rest of the day )

Hi Guys,

We are back from the Arboretum! It was wonderful sitting in the shade of those trees and watching the boats go by on the river. DD had to be home for 4:30p.m they are having a Pool installed and she had to meet with a contractor to sign something. We are hoping that it will be ready for her birthday on August 3rd.

Shawnee, how wonderful that you think of me when you see your Roses. Thank you for that!
Looks like Pup and Cherokee are playing musical chairs in your garden! Gorgeous pics again! How's the temps in your neck of the woods today?

Loretta, we are having the Firemans Steak tonight with sliced mushrooms. It is sirloin with a generous helping of black pepper and garlic along the edges......mighty tasty! Yep, there is still lots of Pork over for great nutritious lunches.
The PG Moms are doing fine, most are due at the end of November. Talking about Preterm Labour this week. Next week is a biggy gotta talk about the Breathing, Stages of Labour along with the Pain Meds available, Massage etc..... Lots of Info to cram into 2 hours.

Ginny, Give Tyke and extra Hug every hour from her Aunt Sue! Glad she is home safe and sound. Sleeping no doubt!

Waving to Ya'All

Good evening everyone,

Susan, your trip to the Arboretum must have been so relaxing. One of my favorite trips is to Alex Bay. We ued to get a motel right on the water and sit out at night to watch the ships pass by.
Yes I did wear a pill box hat on rare occasion but generally hate anything on my head.

Roger, My god I sincerely hope they find no muscle damage. Please keep us posted. Meds are awful!! It seems everything has serious side effects.
Oh those polly fumes are the pitts! Can you go to a motel for a few nights or are you going to sleep on the pull out sofa?

Shawnee, LOL those pictures are too cute for words.Don't you wonder what those critters think? What a lovely rose. Damn I would love to be able to grow some but I would probably kill them off.

Loretta, How very tragic that your dH lost two children. I don't think I could live through that.
Great idea to have pre prepared food for the many guests you will have. Keep it simple is the best way.

Julie, LOL I really didn't look like Jackie but thanks for the compliment. That was taken, without my knowledge, in 1973. Some Greek guy made his living doing that and catching up with everyone on the way out of the Acropolis. I could take a job like that in a heartbeat.

Ginny, hugs to pup. Glad she is home safe and sound. Don't work too hard.

Daughter's car "threw a rod" that penetrated the engine UGH!! They are repairing it and the crew from "Toyota" will be in the area to check it out. They may want all her service records. Ding bat didn't keep very good records even though she did what was needed. However it wasn't done at the dealership. It best be taken care of. She only put 20,000miles on the thang! The have ordered a new engine and said it will take a week or so. Fortunately her BF has an older car that she can use to get back and forth to work.

Yippie we have 5 toms on the plant but no signs of peppers on the pepper plant yet.

More later.

Shawnee thanks for the pictures and story of who's roost that really is. Your rose is beautiful. I think I have a fungus on my rose bush. I will spray it early tomorrow morning. THose petunias look great tooo. Are they the wave type? My salvia are starting to look some better now that they are not drenched.
Thanks for the picts. I enjoy seeing your yard. I might want to sit on that bench. Maybe pup would let me join her.

Susan that sure sounds like an enjoyable and relaxing trip you made to the Arboretum . I would have liked to have been there with you. That steak for this evenings meal sounds delicious too. I sure run out of ideas for supper.

Linda the boy that DH lost was a tragic death when he died in a chemical explosion. His son was (the grandson of DH) was just 16 when he was killed. I am not sure if I could have taken all of that either, but what must be, must be. Dh has 5 daughters and 1 living son. A large family. DH's deceased wife would say (when they asked her if she was Catholic) "No, just a passionate methodist." She had been a cancer patient at the hospital where I worked. We belong to the same church. She died in 1994 and we met officially in 1996.
I sure hope your DD will not be out any money for that repair work.

Loretta

It's still so very tragic Loretta. His deceased wife sounded like a really good woman. You found a great guy.

I just found this really interesting read on Cholesterol and statin drugs.

Hi Y'all
..back again
Here to admit my Senile Act: I ran out of checks...LOL..luckily, NOT in the check-out line with a ton of groceries... Thought I had another box of 'em...wrong! NADA ! Guess I will learn how to use my Debit card, and not pay any bills for "7 to 10 working days."

ZIP, what can I say? The bugs, germs, meds etc just keep coming after you...now this lung- paralizing Poly-crap too? You need a vacation from all this crud! Did ya get the CK test done?
DGBrat's hubby just had his kidney-creatine thing done this AM; he will need a transplant within a few years. Damage from Scholein-Henoch Purpura as a child. Interestingly enough, I had never heard of this disease (and neither had our local docs) til my youngest G-daughter was stricken with it over a dozen years back...(kinda rare) ...now my oldest DGBrat is married to an SHP survivor, as well as being cousin to one. Too strange, the odds there.

Hey, I bought two pair of Levi 501s today, the ol' button-fly kind I wore for the first 30 years of my life! (Bob wears them daily) Anyhoo, I tried them on, and DGBrat said..."You gotta switch to Levis, they take YEARS off you. From the back, you look like a teenager!" LOL Well, who could resist a compliment like that?!
hehee, I DID make her promise to tell me if I EVER wore age-inappropriate get-ups, to confront me about it...nothing worse than an ol' Granny trying to look like a Teeny-Bopper.

Susan, how could I NOT think of you re the Roses? The David Austin ones are English!..and elegant.

Julie, I'm sorry you are in a tough situation with your Family, damned tough. Seventeen years back, I was awaiting the birth of a GBrat here, while awaiting the passing of a brother miles away...felt so conflicted and torn...finally put it in Creator's Hands. We are only human, and what will be, will be.

Update on my Potted Veggies...
just a few a day of ripening little Toms . The larger varieies are still very green. Basil is magnifico, as are the various Perennial herbies.
The HOT Pepper is loaded to the max. Bob had his first one, and declared it HOT!
The Bush Cukes have a few blooms; the Bush Zucchini is loaded with blooms, and has two babies, bout 2" long and CUTE!

Montana, good luck to your DD re getting that engine replaced without a lotta grief.

Loretta, my heart sure goes out to your DH and his GS for that loss. It's earth-shattering. My DGBrat was 17.
One never knows how they will react to losing a child; No one should have to. I can only say its a Living Hell. The options for the parents are limited:
give in to total insanity, commit suicide, stay drugged/drunk...or grieve like hell and accept it, stone-cold. I chose the latter option, and asked Creator to carry it when I couldn't. To do less would have been an insult to her memory. The pain is like a rollercoaster ride, but you don't know when the highs and lows are gonna happen. Somehow, you do survive it and the good memories eventually start outweighing the bad. When DGBrat and I are together, there's always that bitter-sweet feeling of her Mom between us. I am so thankful we have each other, and memories to share..

So count your Blessings, pass out the hugs.

Shawnee

Hi, friends. Things should settle down this week for a while, at least. Family went back home yesterday, when I was at work. Been faithful at curves, and jumping on my new trampoline. Now, I'm gonna read your posts for the last few days!

Finally got PhotoIsland to work for me tonight. Here is a very small section of my "Crystal Palace" Lobelia. My sidewalk goes on and on. I planted 100 plants about 8 inch apart.

Shawnee, I love your flowers. Cute of the critters.
