Monday, July 7
Good morning all,
Another in the string of humid mid-90's in store. Sheesh, they loscked up my electric meter box (2 floors down) so I can't keep tabs on the coming bill....oh well, I'll just trust the gods. Layin' low, til Wednesday's haul to NYU Medical again for another audiology test. It really was a damn chill/bronchitis that caused all this grief. Oh, to have some moments back- I should have torn the head off that stupid stage manager and STORMED out of the theater...we always have the correct answer in retrospect. Susan, I had it easy with the pork slicing. They were beautiful boneless chops/cutlets I had frozen a couple weeks ago. I just let them half defrost and with a very sharp knoife was able to get about 15 nice slices out of each "pork Chop." Shawnee, That sesame oil makes EVERYTHING taste good. I bought a 3 liter can just before my FOODMART went out: cost...about $5 (I'll NEVER see prices like that again). I keep the can in the deep freeze to prevent rancidity and occaisionally fill a 12 ounce "shake bottle" which I use from the fridge. The stuff is very fragile. If you haven't tried it yet, it also comes in a RED HOT variety which is very nice for certain dishes. Thanks for those nice cabbage links; the middle one is safely in my FAVES file. Loretta, Like you, I once got stung on a "spare rib" bargain that wasn't. You made the best of it by just trying to take off as much fat as possible and braising it in mosit heat til the meat cries uncle and gets soft. Pam, I guess now we all found out that one can't make a second font color choice with turning the first off. LOL. I hope all is well. Ginny, Pat a horsie for this city slicker. I'm going to revisit your greenhouse this afternoon. A slow walk for comestibles at ShopRite today, nothing else today. My surgeon called STAURDAY while we were at the theater: I guess he suspected I was disobeying his BED REST order.LOL. Seize the day! Roger

Hi Guys,
A beautiful day again sunny a little cooler which we needed and a few clouds. Just placed a piece of Pork loin, centre cut in the slow cooker, along with onions, garlic, soy sauce, cloves, salt and black pepper, a touch of lemon juice to tenderize a tad more. Hope it will be ready by 5ish tonight. It says 5 hours so that should be long enough! I have a busy afternoon, off to the Aboretum with DD and the two dogs. LOL! Then DD has a drs appointment nearby the park, so I will be alone with the dogs for about an hour. So, I will be reading to prepare for Prenatal on Thursday, also have to prepare for an upcoming interview at the local community college, to teach part time. Got a yukky, uneasy feeling trying to prepare for both. Hopefully it will all come together! Linda, hopefully all are safe on the Highway! Hoping the warranty is still good! If it is, "Oh what a Feeling!" Toyota! Roger, thanks for the tips on the slicing pork thin. What spices do you use or do you have a scechwan mix? I've seen some bottled mixes, gotta try them some time, if not too many carbs. LOVE your tip to "Seize the Day!" Gotta do this more often! Sounds like you are on the mend! I think from todays posts I have some catching up to do on yesterdays posts. What did I miss some Cabbage links, wow gotta get over there! Waving to Ya'all, ![]() |

Hey everyone,
Short and quick today...still gotta feed ponies b4 I leave. Took Tyke in to the vet for her ear, they need to lance it and stitch. Will pick her up tomorrow morning. That littl girl will be ecstatic to see us. Vet says she's just fine, had to call and check. Otherwise all's well here. Glad y'all enjoyed the photos! I was really pleased how they turned out! Hi again,
Oh Ginny, the poor baby She sure will be glad to see you tomorrow. Hope she heals well and quickly. I'm off to look at your photos again with Roger. It always makes me feel good.Susan, Let us know how the pork comes out. I may just try Roger's Scechwan if he will share his recipe. Been going through my photo albums and found this one of me in Greece way back when, at the Acropolis. Now if I can make heads or tails out of Roger's links, maybe I'll be able to scan some of those slides. ![]() Loretta, you are going to be swamped with company again? Let them do the work and you relax.Shawnee, hope the weather is cooperating so you and pup can get out and enjoy! Has she recovered from the firecracker noise? Pam, What's going on with you? Are you OK there? Julie, Welcome back and hope to see you around later. Later |

Linda,
You can't kid me, that's Jackie Kennedy on the steps. LOL. OK Ginny, I think I share a horse's disease. I'm almost certain I've got "tying up." For real, rhabdomyolysis. No kidding. First remember the strange leg pain I complained about 2 weeks ago, attributed it to the flop I took off the desk chair. Well, got back from ShopRite about noon. Squatted down (I don't bend unless I have to- save the back.) At the bottom of the squat, lemon and broccoli in hand, I got the most INCREDIBLE SCREETCHING searing pains in BOTH thighs from groin to knee. I couldn't move my legs- almost paralyzed. I sat on the floor and painfully straightened them, thinking...I CAN'T GET POLIO without a fever, nor could I have a stroke and be totally aware! In a panic I had Bob get the SUPER vibrator...practically diesel powered and dragged to the chair and massaged. Slowly let up over 15 mintutes and I was able to even half squat. I put one and one and one and one and one together. 1. Rhabdomyolysis (muscle death) is a side effect of Lipitor which I have been taking for years and only had thigh pain the first week. 2. Colchicine (gout and back can cause muscle necrosis. 3. Macleootide antibiotics GREATLY increase the risk of rhabdo with the statin drugs. Guess what drugs are MACLEOTIDES: the clindamycin in the hospital and after, AND it's replacement , erythromycin. And yep throw in the oflaxocin that I was using in my eardrum for 15 days So I could have had 5 drugs causing the same side effect and potentiating the other 4! It sounds like a kocktail for Lucretia Borgia's enemies. Immediately called my GP- he's out til tomorrow. I will see him tomorrow and have a CK (creatine Kinase -also called phospokinase) to determine how much necrotic tissue (myoglobins from dead muscle) to my bloodstream which can blow the kidneys. Urine is light (not tea colored), and I have no fever, but I have stopped ALL these drugs for the time being with my surgeon's blessing (who called me back STAT) We agreed that the prednisone should be continued because it's the drug of choice to treat rhabdo. An up note, I think it's these toxins that are causing the serious tinnitus that developed 2 weeks after surgery...when one is gone, maybe the other will too. I think I nipped this in the bud but I have learned the terrible toll that antibiotics can wreak and that they should NEVER be used preventatively. Also, take enough drugs and the odds get REAL good for a bad interaction. Wow, Am I getting sick of "doctoring." After this it's off to the CARDIO referral! Hey you guy's!! A quick run through here. I'm swamped. Had a great camping trip and now back to reality!!!
Next Monday they take DDIL in for a C-Section and we are taking care of DGD while she is in the hospital. Will give DS more time at home with them when she's gets out. In the meantime, my DBIL is only a few days from dying. He's not eating or drinking now. All 11 kids are at his bedside. (good Catholic family) When he dies, we will make a quick trip to Boise Idaho, about 11 hour drive. Just hope this doesn't coincide with baby coming. Have developed a huge corn on my little toe. Wham bam again. Hurts like he!!. Put on a medicated corn pad. We'll see. GOOD NEWS my back is fine. After a few days of the muscle relaxers, and the pain went away. Hurrah!!!! So far the computer hasn't started it up so maybe it wasn't the problem. Sure hope not. Be back later....Julie

Hi finally
Had a busy day today for some reason. Went to get the liquid refreshments for the company for starters. DH new trolling motor foot pedal has gone amuck. We had to go and return the trolling motor and they WM were very nice and just gave us a brand new one. We bought that one in April of this year. My embroidery machine gone amuck too, today. Needle is jamming and not sewing properly. Took that along with us and dropped it at the hospital. I do have supper started though. Thank God your DD was not injured in that toyota fire. I wonder what happened to cause the fire? How did she put out the fire? We sure don't carry a fire extinguisher in our car. I would have been scared to death. I love your picture in Greece. You look rather movie starish there. Tall and slender. I have been searching for old fat pictures of myself but without any luck so far. I'll have to ask my kids. Ginny that poor Tyke having to have her ear lanced. Ouch but she will probably feel much better now that is has been drained. It hurts us too to have those pups suffering and in the hospital. I'm sure you are hot there in Tn also. The Heat Indicies way up to day. Hot and humid. The tomatoes love it. I see another ripening. Shawnee thanks for more info on the Cabbage. I am not eating as much as I used to now that I have found a good way to do the cauliflower. No matter what dish I make with it I have been using the frozen and bake it for about an hour to dehydrate it. The mashed caulf recipe is so like the real thing with the cream cheese, and ranch dry dressing. You need to try it. Hope your area is back to quiet and normal and pup has readjusted. I'll have to try the kielbasa with the kraut and salsa next. Susan hope that your pork roast turns out great. I like pork when it is well done but still juicy. Susan your nose is always in a text book. How about some reading for fun? Do you get to do any of that. I like mysteries or light love stories but forget the far out stuff like Stephen King. I have read a book or two of his. Pam glad you stopped in for a sec. Any more winnings to report. I need you to buy my ticket for the powerball this Wed. It is up to 240 mil. I'd even take 100,000 or even 1000 of it. I did win $4. That's about it. Got to check that supper Later, Loretta |

Hi Y'all
Our delightful cooler weather is soon changing to rain...then HIGH temps buy the end of the week...we do have variety! LOL, ZIP...re Montana's pic...my first glimpse said: Suzanne Pleshette...but the stance and background yelled early CHARLIE'S ANGELS....... Anyhoo, what a great shot! Lordy, I know who's door to be knocking on when I run out of Sesame Oil ![]() Damn, Guy...you must be getting sick and tired of all those bad side effects...they are getting waaaay too serious! Good luck with you and your Doc getting it "just right". Goddess, ((((HUGS)))) to Tyke and to you. Poor baby, its so hard on them to be "messed with" and be away from Mom too. Bet that lancing had to relieve some pressure, and feel better immediately. I'm sure she wants to be Home just as much as you want her there, too. Susan, you're welcome That cabbage is amazing stuff, huh?Best wishes for all your upcoming Projects/Interviews. LOL...know exactly what ya mean about getting side-tracked while researching one particular word or phrase. Before the 'puter, I could open a Dictionary or Encyclopedia searching for a specific "something"...a few hours later, the "something" had been forgotten while I discovered other new stuff... Loretta, sounds like y'all are gonna have quite a lil Get-together, if it warrents a trip to the WET 'n WILD (booze) SHOPPE...LOL I agree, it sure helps to dry that Caulif out for certain recipes. Bummer that Murphey has been back to your house...but seems that you now have him on the run ![]() Montana, WOW! What a Pic....you have been holding out on us, and now we want MORE! Thanks so much for posting it. Must have been overwhelming, being there with all that beauty and history. Hope your DD gets fast and honest help with her car. Julie, glad to hear your Trip was great, both physically and mentally...nothing like getting away to help the ol' bod. Sorry about your BIL...interesting tho...how our Family Life comes full circle; often, as we lose one member, we are blessed with a new one...Hope the "new arrival" will go smoothly and joyously. Back to Curves today. DGBrat wasn't feeling well, but she was a Trooper and went thru the motions. Even tho she's an adult, it still causes me to hurt when she hurts. Ah, the Joys of Grannyhood! More damned Fireworks going off tonight...I sure know where I'd like to stick them! I feel a trip to Wallyworld coming on...my Mousepad looks like mice have been playing with it. I'm sure to find more than I need (of everything) while there ![]() Later Shawnee |

Good lord Roger, I sincerely hope things will be ok. I absolutely HATE medications. Throw that ***** away and don't take anymore. They sometimes cause more problems than they cure. Please keep us posted. I'm worried sick about you.
Ha, I wish I was Jacki , well before she died, and had her money. Loretta, Gee you are so darn busy and now have "Murphy" visiting? Yikes! Laura put the fire out with her work flag. It wasn't too bad fortunately. The darn engine is blown. Boy is she upset. She bought the thing early in 2000 on sale. It's a 1999. Guess Toyota has a few lemons. Now they want her to prove she did the oil changes and such. Poor kid did some by herself but has receipts to show she did and also from Jiffy lube. Hopefully the Dealer won't give her a hard time. Otherwise momma bear will get on their case like they have never seen. JUlie, My heart goes out to you and your family. Be strong but try to take care of YOU. You can't be all to everyone. Step back and rest a bit. It's great to hear your back is better. (((hugs))) |

Shawnee, you and I were posting at the same time. Yes Greece and Rome are beautiful and awe inspiring. I really want to get back again before I die.
LOL you sent your hot and humid weather east. It's been miserable. But tomorrow more storms and then cooler for a few days. Sheesh, we are never happy with it are we? Just a few months ago we were ******ing about the cold. Hope your DGD is ok and feeling better soon. Yes we do hurt when they do. Have fun at Wally world. I was there this eve for about two hrs. Just looking around. Boy it's fun. |
