Hi gentle people.

A two mile long post hit the skids with the isp this morning, so I'll make this short.

Loretta,
Just a very dilute solution of Miracle Grow with every Phonecia watering. I'm looking to buy her a sister. I guess this is how Ginny started.

Linda,
I've started looking for a fluorescent flashlight to start the transparency scanner. I tried a slide show for Bob and myself a couple months back and it was so tedious showing them all even in carousels, I said, well that's it for another 10 years. On slides the pix are really worthless. I'd like ONE CD-R full of "my early life." (The things have been in a huge closet so long that BOB had never seen them....like 30 years without viewing)

Theater tix this afternoon for TALKING HEADS. It will be my first glimpse of a LYNN REDGRAVE live- I've always liked her (And Vanessa). Tix are hard to come by but a neighbor couldn't go so we got them gratis...can't beat it.
Since it's in the West Village (Greenwich) it's only a 10 minute choo-choo. Dinner nearby and then back to the sofa.

Saw the highest of the fireworks over the skyline from our window yesterday, but at 4 miles away, the view was better on TV. Macy's must have spent a couple MILLION on the thousands of rockets!

Everybody, continue to enjoy the weekend. Boilerama here- HEAT DANGER warnings and in the 90's soon after dawn, high humidity goes without saying....ask Phoenicia.
I can bear anything but Loretta's blackout. To Hell with the electric bill (Did I SAY that-I MUST be getting overmedicated)

Roger

ps. I heard a great 2 line description of the HMO system in the USA:
"Out of the coma;
Into the cab."

Mornin' gang!

A nice quiet 4th for us yesterday. Just worked around here, went to Western Sizzlin' for dinner and then hopped on the rider and mowed. Glad that's out of the way for another week! Today will be a run to town, farrier visit, then up to the larger town to get a Sam's membership and do some bulk shopping. Hopefully it's not too packed and crazy there!

Zip, Phonecia sure looks great! Yes, they do keep their blooms a long time, don't they? Most definitely time to put the electric blankets away!!!

Susan, on the wax! I'm not that brave, even to be shave free. Glad you and Oliver had such a nice time yesterday. The furkids sure love a good romp

Linda, woohoo on the little 'mater! Don't worry, it will grow and get red for ya!

Loretta, what a nice surprise in the garden! Now that they've started, you'll probably have your work cut out for ya, as huge as those plants are and I bet they'll be LOADED!

Shawnee, did y'all celebrate at home or go watch the show elsewhere?

Pam and Julie, hope your 4th was a fun, happy one!

Off to lurk for a bit, then get my butt in gear.

Hi everyone,

Hot and HUMID here today too Roger. UGH!! We could get some nasty storms, and hopefully the power won't go out. Air conditioning is something I just can't live without especially with the Ozone warning issued.
The Redgrave's are great. Enjoy the play but don't do too much else. Rest and recover.
Haven't had time to study that article in depth yet but I'll have Gerard take a look and see what he thinks.

Ginny, Sam's is great but you still have to watch prices. Sometimes they aren't the good deal the pretend to be. I can get Tide, Scott tissue and Bounty at wally world for much less money. They do have great prices on canned black olives, green beans and asparagus. Good sales on meats on occasion too but not always. The frozen orange roughy, tilapia and shrimp are a good deal too.

Loretta, Shawnee, Pam, Julie waving and hope to see you later. I'm off to baby sit all 5 grandbrats from 4PM till ???? I'll be playing life guard while they swim then try to get them to bed. HA! Hopefully they will go to sleep by 10pM so I can get on the computer.

Good post holiday greetings.

We did not watch any fireworks yesterday. We sure heard a bunch though. Power was out about 5 hours and the house was really getting HOT. Thank God for that outside gas grill. Supper was on time. Thank God too we were company free for the day.

Zip I have been adding a tad of fertilizer to my inside house plants and they are thriving quite well. I even have treated them to the spray-n-gro a time or two. Take your warm jacket to the show today. Nice to get free tickets. Good deal. Hope you are feeling better.

Ginny hope getting registered at Sams is not too difficult for you. Seems like nowadays those clerks are doing 10 things at one time and can hardly give one person too much attention. They are on the phone a lot or answering some one elses question all at the time trying to take care of you. Listen to me complain. I used to be able to get a membership on my son's card for $15 but no longer available. I have to pay $35 for my own. as the kids say MA it's only $35. I used my card a lot and like having it. I sure am happy that we have 2 ripe toms at the same time so we can each have our own. DH likes his cold and I like mine at room temp.

Shawnee have you celebrated too much? Hope you are feeling well and did not get any bad food. Some areas are having bouts with food poisening. Probably too hot. The whole US seems to be under a very warm blanket by the looks of the weather map.
Hope you get to check in or we will begin to FRET

Linda be safe at the pool party and enjoy the grandkids today. How is Gerard doing? Hope he is getting healthy again.
Glad you have some days off to enjoy.

All have a great Saturday
Pam, Susan here a HIGH FIVE for you two.

Loretta

Gosh Loretta, sorry the power was out for so long in your neck of the woods. It's too darn hot to do without air condidioning.
We are fortunate to be able to get our Sam's menbership on my brother's business acct. for $20.00. He kept my dad's business going on paper and an occasional customer or three. LOL

Gerard had the stent removed Wed. NOT a pleasant experience and he said it hurt like HELL!! He was instructed to call and set up the Lithotripsy soon. We want that over and done with so we can take off for Montana around the 1st of Sept.

God, I have to get off this thing and get busy around here.

Shawnee, please check in. We worry.

Hi Y'all

Bad day yesterday; the WAR ZONE escalated here...we stayed home. Damned fireworks heavy all day and night, all over town( and over our property!), plus the Town-sponcered ones at the lake last night...
Pup was wearing down from all the days of it, so I increased her dosage of Phenobarbitol.
I guess it wore me down too, I was sick all night...like a bad hangover/vomiting...and NO Booze to blame it on.... Its really scarey to see flying rockets launched into our trees and dry pasture grass. A cop friend said that they would have to arrest half the Town to put a stop to the property endangerment.
Today there's just sporatic bursts, so hope fully things can get back to normal...

Loretta, CONGRATS on those TOMS!

Montana, Congrats on finding that Baby Tom...and hugs to Gerard for his HURTS!

ZIP, Phonecia is a JOY to see, gorgeous as usual...she looks so well-loved.

Goddess, Hope your day goes well and you find lots of bargains. How did that Hoof situation from months back turn out?

Susan and Tink, HI and hope y'all are having Content days.

later

Shawnee

So good to see that familiar post here.

Sorry you were sick. Hope you are on the mend today. Probably a good thing that you stayed home with those works being launched right over your heads.

I hate those things (fireworks) So much damage caused and deaths this year on those hauling the works to other areas. DO we really need them? Poor pup too and other creatures being blasted by flying debris or noise blasts.

Linda I agree with you about some of the items Sam's has being over priced. If you watch for sales you can get those same items more reasonable. Just depends on the item. They have a great price on their supplements though and sometimes they have special items.

Later, Loretta

Hi Magnificient Ones!

Hoping YOU ALL had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY BASH yesterday!

Linda, loved the Lady and the Fireworks last night. Thanks for the site. I sent it on to DS down in Florida. Glad Gerard had the stent removed and all is underway for the lithotrypsy before you guys are off to Montana!

Shawnee, sorry to hear the PUP was disturbed by the bangs. Glad you were able to medicate her through it. I think you may have been "in sympathy" with her. How are you both today?

Loretta, any more pics of those mystery flowers? One central spot is probably better and safer for those Fireworks. They try to do that here but some people like to have their own.
I guess you are getting lots of Licopine from your Toms?

Ginny, Whew, mowing the lawn agin? Glad you have a ride on mower in this heat. What is Sams Club? We dont have that up here! I'll have to check with DS if they have one in Orlando.
I am so used to the waxing, that I actually look forward to it as a kind of beauty treatment! LOL!

Roger, Take Care this evening at the Show, dont over extend yourself and make that HMO saying come true! OUt of the Coma and into the Cab. Sounds wonderful living so close to all that culture and fun! Yikes, lots of money gone up in smoke this week on Fireworks for us too in Canada on our Birthday. I wonder how many homeless or hungry people that would feed??

Off the soap box and need to get ready. Going for dinner at a new restaurant to us tonight. I think DD said it is called the Iron Works, a stone building in a small town over looking the river. cIt is close-by, about half hour dirve into the country, so looking forward to that. It has to be well over 90 or 100F today up here and humidity plus!

Waving to ya'all, till tomorrow!

Susan hope you enjoy that new resturant., It is true what you are saying about the money spent on those displays. I guess we just want to show how much we all love our countries and that is the best way to make a statement.

Susan Janie on the Golden Board knew what those flower were.

http://www.veseys.com/store.cfm?prod...3&largeimage=1 They sure were look alikes for several other flowers.

Me again...

Loretta, yuck on the power outage! Houses heat up quickly this time of year when that happens. Yep, that gas grill would be a handy item!

Shawnee, hope both you and Pup are recovered. Sorry to hear you were sick last night....and I'm sure the worry over the fireworks didn't help! Hope they have exhaused their supply and all is normal again.

Susan, Sam's Club is owned by Walmart, and it really is geared for businesses. You have to buy a membership, and many of the items are sold in either mulitples or large containers. I'm a price watcher, and came across some good deals today...green grapes for DH at .97/lb! He was pleased.

Linda, I know what you mean about watching prices. I have a memory for that kind of stuff, and won't get suckered much. Their nuts are a really good buy...cashews, roasted almonds, etc. Coffee filters for our now hooked up to the water supply Bunn were a good price too!

Well, off to chat with my SIL. Later!
