HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY
Good morning all.
After pointeng them in the right direction, Jean Harlow had a wonderful method for making sure everyone could clearly see the pointers. She always insisted on a large cooler of chipped ice on the set. When she was about to shoot another scene in one of those loose but clinging silk things she always wore, she would ice her chest and everyone on the set could see where she was "pointing" very easily- at least til the dreaded LEGION OF DECENCY caught on- damn them (was there ever a more useless group of tight asses. Went to the movies yesterday (back yard mall) and saw 28 DAYS LATER. Started promising, deteriorated last half. Theater was frozen, but I was ready with a very heavy hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Nothing today, the MACY'S FIREWORKS is THE definite firewaorks. They used to have it in the Hudson River but moved it about 5 years ago to the East River (between Manhattan and Brooklyn/Queens....for a great view now we have to take the PATH in and slog across Manhattan. Then getting home with a JILLION of your closest friends is a nightmare- not for me , the way I'm feeling. If anybody is in the mood to terrorize herself, check out the PDR (we do all HAVE on ,don't we[ ]- after a certain age it's mandatory (Ginny still has a couple years to buy hers), just look up the side effects of PREDNISONE. I'm familiar with the many side effects of drugs, but prednisone truly takes the cake.Going into boilerama later today (THI's over 100- with very little cooling tonight). Big fan will soon be shut off and the place will be sealed and air-conditioned. Enjoy your holiday- I'd LOVE some barbecued food, but I think I'm out of luck. Roger edit: Linda, read over these cheap, easy? methods and let's compare notes to choose a method for scanning slides. I have LOTS. Some scanners come with a "tranparency drawer" but these models all cost a fortune.

Mornin' y'all,
Warmed up here, AC is running. We'll be staying pretty close to home this weekend I think. No major fireworks displays unless we want to brave the crowds, so we'll just have a calm 4th here. None of us are 'crowd' people. Zip, no PDR yet, but have access to one (friend is a nurse), so does that count? Don't blame you a bit not going to watch the display if it means that much travel! Shawnee, are you keeping Pup in so the neighbors' 'wars' don't bother her? Loretta, bet that fish was good! Will you be going out to catch more today or will the lake be too crowded with the holiday? Linda, I reckon you'll be holding down the homestead? Any plans? Susan, will you be enjoying our holiday in absentia? Julie, hoping the camping and your back are both doing well. Pam, have fun with the family this weekend! Not much news from here, a little more work being done on the kitchen this weekend, and some playing in the greenhouse. It's repotting time!

LOL Zip on the reminder of the LEGION OF DECENCY. That sure is an old one. Wonder if they are still around? Probably have a different name by now. Glad you dressed warmly for the theater. I won't go out to eat inthe summer time without having some sweater or thing of warmth with me. Prednisolone does have a great deal of side effects. Increased appetite for one. But they are very effective in healing. Good choice to stay at home and avoid your Jillion of closest friends.
Ginny that fish was delicious. As was a new recipe I tried called Okra Tomatoe Bake. I don't even care that much for Okra but it was a good dish except I had to turn on the oven. Well I baked the fish in there too. Enjoy your quiet fourth. Not "crowd" people here either. I found a nice surprise in my garden this morning: Not one but two ripening nicely toms. Hope they are ready by tomorrow. I am ready to eat one or maybe both of them. I am so to see those toms. I wish Julie was here today so I could show them to her. No need for red coloring on them. Susan thanks for the holiday wishes. I am happy in a way that you are going to have an open biopsy. Let us really get a good answer by doing it that way. We can put it to rest then and go on. Gee Susan you need to be down in your fav state too. When is it your turn? Gee I have never been "waxed" I just wear my long pants summer and winter. Linda you sure are a night owl. Maybe you could get those slides put on a CD by someone and then you will be set. I have a bunch of slides that my kids put on a video for me. Funny how things change, we took bunches of slides too. Now a days you can buy a printer that scans and faxes too. When mine breaks I am going to look into that. Shawnee glad to hear that you are taking the day off to go and enjoy the town's celebration. Does DH like going to view the sites too? Willl they have a parade? I haven't been to a parade for a while. The last one I went to was for 'Tater Day'. That is a big celebration here, 4 days etc. Lots of horses in that parade and lots of drunks with injuries in the ER. Enjoy it. All have a safe and happy 4th of July.

Loretta,
Remember THE MOON IS BLUE: It headed up the CONDEMNED list for the whole of my childhood and youth. I finally saw it out of curiosty as an adult. It was the TAMEST, most BORING movie and apparently the condemnation was two people living together without marriage....and HORRORS, neither of them suffered a hideous death fo the sin! Linda, Linda, read over these cheap, easy? methods and let's compare notes to choose a method for scanning slides. I have LOTS. Some scanners come with a "tranparency drawer" but these models all cost a fortune. http://www.abstractconcreteworks.com.../scanning.html Ginny, Borrowing a PDR is always the best way to go. Also nurse friends will have current ones. I've got a 1996, and a 1987 (lol). The old one helps finding cheap alternatives that the new manufactures don't want anyone to remember. Had hot dogs with a side of baked beans for lunch- sort of a barbecue---in the FOYER/Dining area! Finally put away the electric blankets. I think I'm safe. Good HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
It started out a rainy day, pouring down this morning when Oliver got me up around 7a.m. Sun came out and dried all the wetness up. DD came to get me around 12:30 to go to the Arboretum, park with the two dogs and a picnic agin. I made the thermos of coffee. We had a relaxing couple of hours. Oliver is still sleeping it off. He has lots of fun running freely around. Had my waxin done at 10a.m., so got the clean legs for Summer now. DH is getting ready to go to Soccer with his gang of Old Timers! DSIL plays on the same team. DD picking me up to join them after the game for a few drinks. I am Ddriver so will be sf soda for me!Think I need a nap before tonight. Waving to ya'All! Have a Great Birthday Bash America! ![]() |

Hi everyone, Check out these fireworks. It's posted on the golden and several other bbs. Cool! If we don't go to the top of the hill to see ours, we will just have fun with this
http://www.wtv-zone.com/cal555/10fwd/lady/LLa/LL.html Roger, Sorry you have such a long trip to see the fireworks. What a bummer! It would have been wonderful to just watch them from your window. OMG phonecia is lovely!! You must take really good care of her to make her so happy. Wow I need to read that site over a few times and perhaps try to make that gizmo. It would be great to get some of those old slides on the hard drive then onto a disc. I have an old PDR and love it, but you can check out everything on the on line PDR too. Let me see if I can find the link. Groan That Legion of Decency drove some of us nuts when we were young. We had to sneek to see some of the movies fearful that our parents would find out.Ginny, Can't say as I blame you for staying home. We hate crowds too and can enjoy the fireworks from the comfort of our car if we want. Not much doing around here, just some suzy stuff and a bit of retail therapy at wally world. My God, there were only a handful of people there. Just my kind of shopping day. Have fun in the GH. How's the kitchen coming along? Loretta, You don't like okra? I LOVE the stuff, especially when cooked in the same pan as a Greek style leg of lamb. YUMM!Will there be lots of fireworks around the lake? Do you have a knife, fork and salt shaker ready for those toms? They look great. ROF I just looked at my plant and there is a bitty green tom about the size of a nickel sitting there among the other flowers. Finally! Susan, LEG WAX?? YIKES I'm with Loretta, long pants summer and winter. Oh once in a great while I'll shave them but it's a pain. There's nothing like a nice relaxing picnic in the park. Glad you had a good time. Julie must be enjoying herself. Hopefully her back is on the mend. Shawnee, we want to hear all about the doings today. Did you take pup too? Off to take a shower and maybe, just maybe shave these legs. Later. Edited to add the Damned PDR Professional site now restricts access to Drs, NPA's, PA's and resiednts. They want everyone else to purchase or use the general public site. You can still get info there.http://consumer.pdr.net/drug_info/index.html Last edited by LoveMontana : 07-04-2003 at 05:34 PM. |

Zip I just know you must be using Spray-n-grow on Phonecia. She sure must be happy there at home with you and Bob.
She's as good as watching the fireworks. Hope all had a nice 4th. we were without power most of the day. A transformer blew. Too many people here and a very hot hot day. Lots of draws on the power. Sure am glad that I have my pc hooked up to a battery back up. At least I have time to shut down properly. DH and I spent most of the day reading. Loretta |
