Bouncing Back After Baby: 7/4 - 7/10
This past week or so I feel like I've mostly been talking to myself, so I'll make this quick:
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!! Stephanie - No sign of my TOM yet. I'm sure I'll get it as soon as I wean Leah, and I'm not looking forward to getting it either. |

I don't know why I was expecting any different after I gave birth. Guess I just need to lose more weight, then it will show up. Have a great day everyone! Anyone have any plans for the 4th? *obviously I don't...not a whole lot of Independence day celebrations here...lol we had ours on the 1st.* ![]() Lisa |

![]() Happy Fourth!!!! Hi Mary-I wish my life would slow down.I have scarcely a moment to myself these days.I thought with my eldest being out of school a little more time would magically appear.I had yesterday off and DH *passed through*.He spent a little time with the kids, had some of my homemade beef barley soup,a little nap and then he had to go.This was the 1st time we saw him in almost 2 weeks... My TOM wasn't as bad as I expected, but it was no fun being hot and bloated and running around a busy restaurant(hard to go to the bathroom when you need to).I survived though ![]() Sorry you were *talking to yourself*.I'll still read it though and catch up with you later/OK ![]() Hi Lisa-do you do anything in the way of celebrating despite being out of country? I'm sure I'll see lots of Americans today.Funny how many come across the border on the holiday. anyway gotta run, duty calls Hi to all, check in tomorrow probably as it'll be around midnight when I get home tonight

Happy 4th of July!!!
I gotta make this quick while Bria is still sleeping. We are gonna go to my mom's house for lunch and then to the fireworks on the river tonight. That's a big deal here in Augusta. The city has been trying to bring new life to our downtown area, so on the first Friday of every month there is a big street party down there. It's called - you guessed it - "First Friday". So between that and the fireworks display tonight, it should be quite fun, and quite crowded, I'm sure. I think they are trying to make downtown Augusta more like Savannah (where they are famous for their downtown river parties), but it ain't gonna happen. I am happy to report that I am down another 2 lbs. I don't know if it's due to the CLA or not, but I'm happy either way. I am gonna check my measurements on Saturday (since that will be a week since I took them before) and see if I've lost any inches. That, to me, is more important than the scale. I can't get into any of my pants right now cause my butt and hips are so big. Gotta go for now. I've got to finish getting myself ready to go before Bria wakes up. I'll check back either tonight or tomorrow and do personals. Have a great day everyone! Susan

Thanks Lisa and Lee, you gals made me feel better.
I've been writing so much lately, and getting few responses. I guess you could say, I like feedback. ![]() Leah was up half the night last night, and I'm exhausted. I hope I make it through this day, without falling flat on my face. Lisa - The kids and I are heading over to my mom's house, while my DH heads off to work. My mom is having a big cookout, and there will even be some out of town relatives there, whom I haven't seen in a few years. I was losing a lb here, and lb there, so I was losing very slowly, but not anything in the last few weeks. I think I've "bottomed out," meaning I won't lose more until I wean Leah. Lee - I know you've been incredibly busy since you started working, so I'm not expecting regular posts from you (although I would like them, and I miss reading them ) I hope someday your life slows down, and you can have more time to spend with us.Susan - Have fun at the festivities, and yeah for losing 2 lbs!! ![]() MaryC |

Mary, have fun w/ your fourth activities! You'll be weaing Leah soon enough, you have the rest of your life to lose weight. Maybe try upping your activity level? I know it didn't work for me...but maybe it woudl work for you
![]() I'm sorry you feel like you haven't gotten a lot of feedback. With Michael being sick, I was pretty much not online much the past week. *of course, guess who is sick now? Me of course. GRR* Susan, I"ve been taking my CLA for almost two weeks now...I just checked my measurements. I lost about 1/2 an inch in a couple of places. I'll keep taking it, hope to see better results. Of course, weight wise I'm not down much. I'm not getting my water. When I don't drink awter, I don't lose. Sad fact. OH well.Lee, no, I don't think I'll be celebrating this year. Maybe next year. Michael will be older, maybe we'll have a bbq or a picnic or something. I'm sorry you're running around a lot. It must be hard w/ the little ones and DH gone all the time. He's a trucker I assume? Its a hard life, and truckers don't get the credit they deserve. I want to go to sleep cause I don't feel good...but I hear Michael stirring. SIGH. Why can't he just sleep the whole day?? ![]() Lisa |

Hi everybody!!! Happy belated 4th to you Americans and Happy belated 1st to us Canadians
![]() Sorry to be awol...it has been terribly hectic here. I swear I had more free time when I was at work! LOL I can't believe Sydney will be 1 on Monday. Holy cow the time hasflown by quickly. I finally got my truck all fixed and put back together yesterday...I don't know if I'll ever get all of the grease out from under my nails LOL But, at least with it fixed I'll be able to go visit my family in 2 weeks! It feels like an eternity since I have been back to Canada so I am anxious for the trip. Plus, I am eager for my grandmother to meet Sydney. Weightwise....well I won't go there I am having a heck of a time sticking with the program lately. I really need a swift kick in the pants!have a great rest of the weekend everyone! Duty calls!

I did well at the 4th of July cookout yesterday, at my mom's house. I ate only LC all day, and I was down a 1/2 lb today. I won't claim it though, b/c that probably won't be the case tomorrow. I made homemade coleslaw and a cheesecake type dessert, and everyone enjoyed them.
Lisa - Sorry to hear that you are feeling sick now. So much for getting a break from illness during the summer, eh? Trust me, weight-loss or no weight-loss, I am very ready to wean. I'm just holding out until Leah is 10 mths old, b/c she likes it so much. At 10 mths, I'm going to give her 1 mth to make the adjustment gradually, and whether she does or not, I'm going to stop BF'ing when she's 11 mths old. I don't know if it's entirely due to Leah's one tooth, but lately, BF'ing has been uncomfortable at best, and sometimes painful. I cringe sometimes when she wants to nurse, and try to get her to eat more solids, to give me a longer break inbetween. If I truly luved BF'ing, I would continue with it, no matter whether I lost weight or not. Hope everyone is feeling better soon! ![]() MaryC |

Just checking in.
No Mary you are not just talking to yourself! Yesterday was a continuation of my carb-fest and I have already started today too. We did have a wonderful time and I still haven't gained any weight (even though I am eating horribly). We went to a friend's house and had burgers and hot dogs and they had some little fireworks. From thier house we could see the city fireworks display and Michaela did really well. Today is another story- she is Miss Grouch! I am sure that is a result of too much excitement yesterday and not enough sleep. Kim Yea for the truck getting fixed! What was wrong with it? I wish I had a closer family that cared about seeing each other. I guess that is one reason I want several children. Very nice that you get to go visit. ![]() Mary I am sorry that BF has become uncomfortable and I think I can relate on a minor level. Sometimes I feel touched out and like my nipples are just annoyed. Yea for you staying low carb yesterday! Susan Congratulations on the 2 pounds! Any side effects from the CLA? Lisa I hope you are feeling better and got some sleep.

Green - I had to put a new ignition system in. I do need a new truck...but it isn't in the budget just yet. and I do love my Tracker...I've had it 11 years!
My family is awesome and I wish I lived closer to them. I feel a lot of guilt about living so far away from them..especially now with the kids. My dh's parents live in town and that is a treat in itself LOL |

Good afternoon ladies! Hope everyone is well today.
Mary ~ Yay for you for staying on track for the holiday! And yes I would claim that 1/2 pound. Every little bit helps! I managed to stay LC for the 4th also. I am very proud of myself. I ate a little too much yesterday, but it was all LC. I probably got too many calories though, and a little more carbs than I should have, but they weren't the "bad" carbs. Greenbean ~ Hang in there, hon. Everyone goes through bad spells every now and then. You'll get back on track, I'm sure. How has hubby been doing lately with LC? Lisa ~ Hope you feel better soon! Kim ~ You work on your own truck? I wish I could do that. It would sure save me some money. I'll be back later. Gotta run cause butthole DH says my typing is too loud. Can you tell I'm mad at him? I'll be back later when he's gone.Susan Last edited by SusieQ12 : 07-06-2003 at 10:53 AM. |

Hi! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend.
Mary: Sorry if you feel that you weren't getting feedback. I read every day, but sometimes to don't get a chance to post. I always read what you have to say and find you to be very open and honest. Lisa: I too have PCOS and was very surprised to see TOM show up at all. I don't get many cycles on my own so this was a shocker. I hope you feel better soon. Lee: I hope you get a breather soon. Sounds like you need it desperately. Susan: Great on losing 2 lbs! Sounds like the party was fun. Kim: Happy Birthday, Sydney! I hear ya on not being on plan lately. I have been bad this past week and the scale shows it. Kerensa: Glad Michaela did well at the party. I find that if Roarke has been out or too stimulated then the next day is very grumpy. Susan and Kim: Typing too loud...LOL That's funny. We brought Marlee up to camp last night. She will be gone until Saturday. I hope she has a good time. Shall I dare say this without jinxing myself? Roarke has been sleeping better. He gets up after 5 am most mornings. The only problem now is getting him to sleep. He doesn't fall asleep with the bottle so he is wide awake. He also gets bad gas pains from sucking in the air. I use the Avent bottles. I try to nurse him to get him to sleep, but he doesn't nurse long enough before turning his head away. I've resorted to rocking him, not a habit I want to continue. I think I will give him less formula so that he will nurse longer and get to sleep faster. |

HI all!
4 days at the shore proved to be quite a challenge. The Family-IL chose Italian two nights in a row! The last night, we ate at a diner, who only offered all starchy veggies! UGH! I did manage, and have seemed to drop another pound or 2. It is hard to tell on my scale, as it fluctuates so much, Can anyone reccomend a good cheap digital scale? Thanks!

Leah pulled up to standing for the first time on Sat. evening. It was a total surprise, and I'm still kicking myself for not taking a picture. I've been waiting for her to do it again, so I can take a pic, but aside from pulling up on me while we were laying in bed, it's been a no-go. I don't think she'll be walking as early as my other two kids (by 11 mths), but that's okay. Since she's my last, I don't mind her taking her time.
Kerensa - We're here for you, whenever you're ready to end your carbfest! At least you're not gaining. I'm sure I would gain if I increased my carbs, which is why I won't.It's amazing, even though Leah is getting her teeth in now, she's been relatively a happy, little girl. She has her moments, but don't we all. I haven't even needed to give her Tylenol. My DH's family is practically non-existent, but we see my family on occasion. I'm not really close to my family though. That's why my DH and I feel very strongly, about establishing a close relationship with out children. Susan - Yeah for you staying LC too! I ate higher carb that day too, but only good stuff. I'm going to claim that 1/2 lb now, b/c I've been down for 3 days straight. I still can't understand how your DH could be bothered by your typing. Is your computer in your bedroom? That's the only thing that would make "some" sense.Stephanie - Thanks for the nice words! I try to be honest, without sounding like a horrible mother. I sometimes wonder if people think I'm terrible for wanting to wean. I hope not. I'm proud of anyone who tries BF'ing at all. It's not easy, that's for sure.I'm having problems myself, with getting Leah to sleep at night. I find that I have to nurse her to sleep, but that's not a habit I want to continue. My other two children were taught to fall asleep on their own, but I wasn't BF'ing them at this age. I'm hoping once Leah is weaned, and she's a little older, it will get easier. We'll see on that one. *News Flash!* As I was typing, Leah pulled herself to standing, and I got a pic this time! I'm so proud of my big girl! ![]() |

Hedy - Good for you, staying LC while on vacation, and even losing weight!
We bought a Taylor lithium scale, for only about $30.00, and it's been very reliable. I highly recommend it. MaryC |

Hi ladies!
Mary ~ First of all just let me say - YAY FOR LEAH PULLING HERSELF UP! And yes, the computer is in the bedroom. We don't have a den, and now that Bria's here, we don't have a spare bedroom. Our computer is not a new one, so when you type, it can be heard. But it's not loud enough to bother anyone. But the one I have a work, it's brand new and I swear you can't hear the keys when you type on it. My DH usually falls asleep with the TV on, so the keyboard shouldn't have bothered him. I guess he just felt like being a butthole. But he gets online at night when I'm in bed, and I don't say a word. To me, it's just not worth arguing over. And no, you're not a terrible mother for wanting to wean. You sure as heck did much better than I did. If someone says that BF'ing isn't hard, they probably have never done it! Gotta run for now. I'll check back in later. Bye! Susan |

I am totally depressed.
I was on the last pic on my roll of film, and my son somehow wrecked the whole thing, so a month of pics is now gone. Then, I got a phone call from someone from church, letting me know that an old friend of mine died this morning. She was only 29 yrs. old, and she was my maid of honor at my wedding. I am in shock. I knew she had cancer, but I didn't realize it was this serious. I wish I could talk to my DH, but he's too busy at work right now. Anyways, thanks for the congrats about Leah standing. I'm too upset to do any personals at the moment. Mary ~ So sorry about your loss. I know there's not much anyone can say to make you feel better, so here are some hugs-
((((((Mary))))). Wanna hear something funny? All this time I thought I was 5'6", and my sister measured my height tonight and I'm 5'5"! I feel like such a liar because I've had 5'6" in my signature for the longest time. But, what's one inch, right? I'm glad I know now. I don't know where I got 5'6" from. I am also gonna put my weight stats in my siggy, too, since I feel it will be better motivation than trying to keep it a secret. But, here's the question; for my "post pregnancy stats" do I put the weight I was the day I came home from the hospital, or the weight I was after losing all of the excess water? See, at my last OB appointment, I weighed 230. The day I came home from the hospital, I weighed 220. The next day, I started LC again and drank water, and in three days' time I had lost 15 lbs of water weight, which put me at 205. So do I put 220 for my start weight or 205? I was thinking 220 but I'm not sure. How did you ladies do it? Gotta run for now. I gotta get some sleep while Bria's asleep. Susan |
