National Weight Control Registry
Did you know there is a National Weight Control Registry (NWCR)? This is a database of people who started out at least 30 lbs overweight, lost the weight and successfully maintained their fat loss for at least 1 year. They currently have over 3,000 people who have enrolled. Here's the problem. They say that their enrollees who have lost substantial weight and kept it off, are eating a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet!
I have to believe that so many of the successful low-carb dieters out there have not enrolled in this database. We need to have our voices heard or people will just go on believing that low-carb is just a fad. They, (University of Colorado) are using this database to develop strategies to help other overweight people. They need to know about all you low-carb winners on Maintenance! You can register at www.nwcr.ws or call 800-606-NWCR.

MAJOR LCF POSTER!

I enrolled in the NWCR and filled out page after page of their forms. It took about three hours. Not once did they ask if I restricted carbs in any way. Instead their questions seemed slanted toward the low fat angle. I believe their study is a SHAM.
