THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES, 6/27/03
Like that title for our little saga? LOL
Hi kiddies. Another (and last) day of the boilerama. At dawn the air looked like SOYLENT GREEN or BLADE RUNNER, backlit white steam. Sun rose a BEAUTIFUL deep magenta disk in the murk....precisely between the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. Too bad no camera could catch that....I KNOW from experience that the camera would catch only the overexposed sun in a sea of black nothingness....our eyes are smarter and the view was breathtakingly spooky. Air conditioner has been doing both rooms at 74° a perfect temperature...June electric bill will show a burp up but well worth it. We have two 12,000BTU jobs, but best results are obtained with LR running continuously (cycling to maintain temp) and a fan pushing the air at floor level into the BR....the 12,000 in the BR is too big for comfortable sleeping (even though the room is 12x17) and it cycles too often (resulting in humidty buildup) Always have LESS air conditioning than you think you need for maximum comfort (from the old engineer) Last day for Bob....I'm so happy- So's he. Online filing for UNEMPLOYMENT Monday morning. An old stress test that I'd taken in 1999 has eluded me all week...I FOUND IT and I would like to fax it to my doc. OY, I haven't rehooked the scanner since last reformat and the old 'puter is getting "woogely"...a sure sign that a reformat will be needed during July. I'm afraid if I throw in the scanner software, I'll kill the old lady today-not my plan, I wanna be the one who calls the timing of the reformat....AUGGGHHH, a dilemma. Linda, So glad to see that Girard is up and about. I assume he's stented and the other stone is scheduled for audio lithotripsy sometime soon? Please let me know as soon as you get the chemistry on the old stone. Bet it's calcium urate...just a hunch. Susan and Julie, Goddess bless your continued care and love for your gay sons. Julie, I've thought of doing a book on drinking control methods: I've been at it since 1987. There's a market for it. Some find it possible to drink in moderation after alcoholism without the awfully complicated dance: THE TWELVE STEP! It will be the next wave, and if I'm smart I'll get in on it as a pioneer....guess what I'm talking myself into? To all, enjoy the weekend and the nicer weather coming; for the East anyway. Roger

Mornin' everyone!
A little bit of rain last night cooled us down to highs in the low 80's today. Will be nice not to ROAST at work tonight Tomorrow we will take our youngest in to the Dr. to have her ear looked at. We've noticed she's been carrying it a bit lower, like it was lazy, but last night it was quite pronounced. She was shaking her head and scratching at it, and when we looked in it once again (tough to do with our hyper girl) we saw nothing unusual, but when I felt both her ears I felt swelling in the left. So, since we couldn't get her in today without leaving her there (poor baby would be scared) we take her in early tomorrow a.m. Don't think it's a bee sting or bug bite since it's been going on for a bit, but she and our middle girl do like to catch/kill the dang Starlings, so wonder if she got scratched or something....Anyways, we'll find out in the morning. I will supposedly have a short night at work tonight. Production is supposed to shut down after 3rd shift this morning, but if we get hot parts in, that could change. Will be nice to get home early! Linda, gas here as of yesterday afternoon at Wallyworld was 1.29 per gallon. I can live with that, but hope it drops even more! What is it up there for y'all? Zip, another reformat? Sheesh, you sure seem to do that often. Do you do a complete restore to in the box condition or just a major cleanup? Why is it so frequently required? Loretta, hope your visit with company went well! I know what you mean about getting the wrong thing and having to exchange it. I'm a register watcher when I check out, and have a mental total before I even get in line most of the time. DH and I used to make guesses as to what the total would be, and I was usually pretty accurate (we're easily amused LOL) Shawnee, now that y'all have had the first ripe tom, is Pup laying by the 'mater bushes in wait of the next ripe one? Pam, have fun doing the crafty stuff! Sounds like you're enjoying yourself. Julie, big plans for the weekend or just hanging around watching baseball? Susan, hope all is well up there for you...and enjoy the non-speech prep time! Well, off to lurk for a bit, then to town for my weekly run...

Hi Y'all
Another scorcher here today. Its either feast or famine with the sunshine, this ninety-plus stuff takes the fun out of outdoor activities. ZIP, If I have my glimmer of facts straight, isn't Bob ready for retirement, age-wise? Or is he retired, and working part-time? Anyhoo, hope you two get to enjoy this time together, without employment interruptions. ![]() Goddess, sooo sorry to hear your FurBaby has an ear problem ![]() Bless her lil heart, hoping its not serious and can easily be remedied. Hugs to her and to her momma. To All, have a great day. Shawnee |

Only havae a minute here as the stupid surgeon called today and I have to un out to my Dr. and sign for my old xrays to be sent to him. I have no idea why. I had surgery on my thumb tendon way last November. Maybe for research, who knows. Urgent I was told. Have to run as of course I have a lunch date at 11:00.
Zip, that book sounds interesting. I was looking for that book when I decided to quit. Too late for me now. I would never go back to it. It's just not worth it to me now. But good luck doing it and many people may benifit so go for it!!! I bet that sunrise was beautiful. Whats with reformatting? Never heard of doing it. Fill us illiterate one in please. Ginny, poor pooch!!! Hope it's nothing serious. Linda...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!! Shawnee, thank God our weather is a little cooler here. Have a good day and will be back later. Julie

![]() ![]() ![]() Happy Birthday Linda God, You have my deepest condolences becasue I went through this one 3 months ago, as you know. Ginny, Things have stabilized with the puter so I've got a new lease on life. But I do a REFORMAT...complete with a blanked hard drive at least yearly because things grind to halt one way or the other. Especially if you remove lots of programs that don't uninstall properly (like MOST of them don't). Then of course you get that creme de la creme program that RALLY flocks the whole works up (I find it's often a fatal MS WORD function- god I hate that program...but everybody uses it as the standard) Shawnee, One of us MUST work with a $1000 rent bill and a $500 health insurance for me and New York life. He's bitten the bullet and I try to manage everything else in recompense. I'll never be able to repay that debt. When he can't do it anymore he'll come to me and say "OK it's time to move"...it's coming soon. My health: On Thursday, Doc found my liver swollen...it wasn't a month ago when I had my physical. Awaiting liver function results. My lungs are also tending to fill with fluid (as of yesterday)...it comes on with any exertion. At first I thought it was onset of my annual bronchitis/pneumonia (theater was frigid- but it's probably not. After a nap, I'll wake up, pee a storm and feel ok. I think I may have overhydrated because BP is high. Toying with taking a diuretic. If I'm full of water they are diagnostic. If full, one will get quarts out. If not full-NADA. I will watch my salt intake too. That mothertruckin' clindamycin nearly killed me! Will see doc again next week, but I will NOT take any of that Flagly til a parasitic overgrowth confirmation. I CANNOT risk another "side-effect." Julie: "That BOOK" I mentioned doesn't exist...I'm thinking of WRITING it not reading it. TGIF, Bob is FREE for 2 months! Friday or not Roger, you best see a Dr. about your lungs filling with fluid. That is something you don't fool with. Swollen liver???
OMG will it ever end for you. Maybe quit, or have you already because of the surgery, the drinking for awhile and see if the liver goes down. It does a wonderful job of regenerating itself. I'm so sorry all is falling apart. You definately have had your share of bad luck. |

Late hi to all
Zip I have a tester for my plants that tells whether or not they are hydrated or dry. I just stick it in the soil and it makes a noise, more for too wet. We could just stick that tester in you (somewhere ) and see if it comes up dehyrated or not.Sounds a little like overcorrection to me with the fluids. Some of our docs would do that with giving the rxs in the er. Hope that your liver tests are ok. It is true as Julie said that the liver is one of our finest organs for regenerating the right tissue. Sure sounds like you appreciate Bob and have worked out a plan for the both of you. I feel so appreciated by my DH because he tells me. It is nice to hear those things. I have not heard a thing from my fatal blue page since I did a defraging. Guess it fixed it on the scan disk. Julie that is curious about them wanting your xray films. What is up with that???? Hope you enjoyed your lunch today. Our weather is beautiful today. Low humidity and 80s. Ginny hope that pups ear infection ? can be cleared up easily. You were really observant to catch that. Those pups sure can't come to you and say "Ma, my ear is hurting". Company went fine. WE had chicken soup and then played MIchigan Rummy. The guests won most of our pennies. I try to watch the register when I check out but sometimes they have help and go really fast and I can't even check the price that shows up. Sometimes I go over my recepit before I leave the store. That day just snuck up on me. BAck in a jiff I'm back now. Had to see if we were going to have fish for supper. The pot roast I planned on was spoiled. I had to defrost some fish but DH had one fresh crappie. Good supper. Linda Danish Ribs well the came from Sweden but I thing they are not the best quality at .97 cents a pounds. You pay for what you get. I prefer the 3.99 meaty ribs. I will give them a try on Sunday. Hope you are enjoying your birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. It is better to have one than not. Shawnee I have been out there tying up my tomato plants. Some of the branches are haning out of the baskets. I tied them up to the baskets. Tons of tons and blossoms. The first toms are really growing nicely, big and round. Dh says don't spray them any more but I did today. Sprayed the flowers again... Some are really looking great. I think they might not have survivied without the spray-n-grow. The salvia are looking better but that soil is stilll wet. Susan I have planted spinach in a round container before. It came up fine. It needs cool weather. It finishes soon as the weather warms up but it can be replanted in the fall for another crop. I really don't plant that much of it just enough for a salad or two. Have you gotten any news yet about your breast tissue? Pam even when you are not busy you are busy doing some thing. Glad that some of it is really enjoyable to you. We need to do that for ourselves, even if it is a crossword puzzle or sewing or cooking. Later, Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 06-27-2003 at 05:53 PM. |

Julie,
I went into NO DRINKING mode on the 10th of June and won't have a drink til September. It's the way my "plan" works. So far in 2003 I have had alcohol on exactly 26 days. If I can keep it to 60 days a year, my method is a success...I've usually been under my goal! I don't have a book, I'm going to WRITE one. Loretta, OK I'm bent over....bring on the tester. Thank god the diarrhea has stopped! So probably the Clostridium will be negative. My Thiazide drained LOTS of water out. Here's a dubious hopeful. At the theater Tuesday, they had the air conditioners set to DEEP FREEZE...maybe it's only a cold in my lungs instead of lung cancer[ ] or bronchitis.Ginny, I'm finding that System Restore on WinME is better than I first gave it credit for. It allows one to back out of some messy situations after a wrench was been thrown into the gears. It's saved me a couple times this month. A clue to the reformat need is the proliferation of the popups: "Blah Blah has caused an error in BLAH.dll (or BLAH.exe) and will now close." When too many programs do this too often, it's reformat time! Also when you find yourself rebooting ever second time, format is near. Right now things have calmed on my 'puter...somewhat. I'm amazed so many people wait so long. I have friends who have to wait and wait and wait to open ANYTHING! Bet Linda is being treated to a nice dinner out with a bottle of good wine!...or too depressed to type (can't blame the poor dear) edit: Regiser your phone number with federal government to prevent phone solicitations and advertisements after 10/1/2003. How's your Self-esteem?
A quiz on this http://www.drphil.com/show/show.jhtm...ers_112602.xml ZIP, dang, you were so LUCKY with the Ear results...sure hope you can get everything else under control! You need to be well so you and Bob can enjoy this free time. My ME Restore has saved my butt a few times ![]() Went to Curves, workout was fine...there is a PlayRoom for kids there. One Mom brought her 8 yr old Brat, who was NOT staying in that room..which irritated the crap out of me. The Rules clearly state that Brats will not be roaming around the exercize area....Not only irritating, but dangerous. (This is my Health-Social time, and I sure as hell don't wanna put up with someone's rude kid, and have to be concerned I might accidentally smack a Brat behind me.) The Instructor spoke with us about it, and I felt sorry for her, as she's put on the spot to inforce the rules. I, on the other hand, will have NO problem in the future ..with telling ANYONE to control them. I blame the Moms, NOT the kids, for this kinda behavior. OK, I'm thru ranting now. Left Curves for the Hair joint a few blocks away...got FAST and Great service,..Yeah! ...a cut I didn't have to overhaul once I got home ![]() ![]() ![]() Another stop at Grocery, got lotza Fruit and Veggies...steaks marinating in fridge. ![]() Loretta, Chicken Soup I'd give ya a whole Pickle jar full of pennies for a bowl of that!Julie, how's your Toms doing? I am still seeing only GREEN. Shawnee |

Zip, I KNOW the book doesn't exsist!! I guess I should've put "book" in brackets, sorry. I hope I didn't upset you with the mention of drinking. Sounds like I did. It's just so many liver problems result from drinking. I should know.
Shawnee, my toms are sure lighting up but still green!! Loretta, I got to the Dr. office and signed the stupid privacy policy (for all medical info now) and had to take them to the other doc (the surgeon.) I bribed the nurse and said, since I went all the way to get these films, she can at least let me ask a question of the Dr. (Not suppose to til I get another referral.) She let me and was so nice. I have been having some pain in my wrist again on the base of the thumb where I had surgery, so he said it was arthritis. Dandy!! Gave me prescription for anti-inflamatories. Right out at the desk. hehehe....fooled the HMO. No referral and free!!! Anyhow, They needed the xrays because my case was choosen (LOL) for one of the audits. Thats what they said! Didn't know they did that. Thats the story, did you get it? Confusing isn't it. I'm not too savvy on writing obviously. Julie |

I dont go back till July 3rd this Thursday to find out if he thinks I need an open biopsy or not, cuz they couldnt reach it with the core biopsy needle punch thing, as the suspect tissue is next to a blood vessel and close to my chest wall and they dont want to perforate my lungs.....tricky stuff eh? Thanks for askin! I'll keep ya informed.Did ya ever try that Hickory smoked flavour in the slow cooker with Pork? I was thinkin about it, tryin to simulate a BBQ type taste. Thanks for that quick test on self esteem Shawnee. I guess I am about 1/3 distorted. They would not take sometimes for an answer, I guess. I did have sometimes for an answer on some of them. I do call my self dummy. Oh welll, interesting test.
I don't blame you about that kid running loose. I feel the same way. The other morning in church some of the old gals were busy talking before services. I just got up and moved away from them. I am there for the silence and to feel the presence of the Creator. I was surprised that they both apologized to me later. I guess if I had not moved they would have not even realized that I was distracted by their talking. Julie has your wrist bothered you a lot. I have not heard you complain about it. That was a good deal to get a script without having to make an appointment and getting the xray results from the doc. Hope the rx helps. What did they give you? Bed time. |

Susan, we do have a lot in common, huh? I have RLS (restless leg syndrom) which is affected by ferritin levels. With a level below 50 the RLS causes me many a sleepless night despite medication for it. So I too have to take iron supplements periodically. Thats why I was wondering but I just take ian OTC stuff.
Loretta, no I haven't mentioned it. Seems we all have our aches and pains. I had surgery on my tendon at the base of my thumb last Nov. after a year of pain. I had it in both wrists and numerous cortisone shots. My right got better but not my left. It is called, de Quervain's disease. Splinting for over a month, during Christmas, a year and a half ago didn't help at all. Now, I'm getting arthritis in it. He said there are many options and the anti-inflammitories (Nabumetone)are the first thing. All I heard was the last resort is another surgery. I wonder if it was started up again when I was using that 27 oz. glass to drink all my water. I quit that glass as soon as I realized it was causing me pain.Sure hope this med doesn't start up my acid reflux. Taking Pantopazel for that. Darn, it's he!! to get old!! I hate taking drugs with a passion. Now, they just keep adding up on my counter. Julie |

Delightful day today in these parts. The temp dropped at least 20 degrees and humidity too. Kids all stopped by to wish this old broad a happy bd. Grandbrats drove DH nuts.LOL
Many thanks to all of you for the BD wishes. Funny, it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. My dear Roger, it's great that your "runs" have stopped but what the hell is going on with your lungs and liver? Could that antibiotic have caused most of your problems? I HATE MEDS of any kind. Hopefully you and Bob can leave that pricy piece of realestate and get some place where you can enjoy your retirement years. Lots of cheap real estate in these parts but no jobs either. IBM is laying off more here, and according to the local news, soon 30,000 more nationally. Christ!! ![]() Gerard's stone is most likely Calcium oxalate, the most common. Stent will be removed on Wed. and the Lithotripsy scheduled soon. God Julie, I hope they can find a solution to your wrist pain soon. Was it carpal tunnel? Hopefully a good hand surgeon did the procedure. Susan, GEEZZZZ they sure take their time in the Canadian medical system getting these things done. I would be ranting and ********************ing constantly. Hopefully everything will be just fine. Have fun furbabysitting. Ginny, OH your poor youngest one. Hopefully it's nothing more serious than ear mites. Please keep us posted. ((hugs)) to you. I know how worried you must be. Is something going on at your plant to be shutting down early? Hopefully this damned slow economy isn't hurting business. Gas was $1.539 today. YIKES %^#$$ NYS taxes! Sheesh Pam, where are you again? We do worry when you don't post. Will you please take some time for yourself and rest. Loretta, Those pricy ribs are my favorite too. Just slow cooked a bunch in the oven today with Bruce's BBQ sauce YUMM. What the heck happened to your roast and why did it go bad? Bet that crappi was wonderful! I can almost taste it. Shawnee, LMAO That brat should have been controlled by it's so called MOM. WTH is wrong with parents these days? Rant all you want. I'm with you on that.Glad the hair cut was good. It's difficult to find a great cut these days. Everyone is always in such a damned hurry. Money, money, money. Green toms?? What I wouldn't give for some of those FRIED!! Right now we only have blooms. OMG I'm pooped but will lurk a bit. No LInda, my tendonitis is at the base of my thumb. It's called de Quervain's disease. Not Carpal Tunnel!! The tendon gets inflamed and it can't move in the shaft. They went in and cut the shaft so it could move without pain. AND it was successful at the time. Arthritis set in this fast???? hmmmmm When I go to my doc next week, I'll get a referral back to the surgeon I saw today and who did the surgery. Yes, he is a specialist in hands.
Hope you had a real nice day today! |

MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hello there at going on 11p.m. I've gotta get here at a decent hour! Almost done with the Indian head-dress. Maybe DH can upload a pic of it. Hit Curves every day this week. Like Shawnee, I had a problem person there, also. This woman on the machine next to me. She had a very bad dye job-too black with a white stripe down the side--Skunk comes to mind. Anyway, she would not get off the machine when it was time to change. I should have told her. I think she was an out of towner, so I hope she either learns the rules of the road, or goes back home!
Zip--Do you think the swollen liver is due to alcohol? It could be something else. Mine was damaged at age 7, and occasionally shows an enlargement. Ginny--The Vet will surely find out and successfully treat your precious one. It's hard when our furbabies have something wrong. I wish they could tell us. Loretta--That was nice that the talking ladies apologized. They probably didn't realize how much they were yakking. Yes, I do stay busy. Tomorrow, I must stay busy and focus on housework, since the housecleaning fairy isn't apt to show up. Julie--What is de quervain's disease? Do you get the bizarre things happening to you as I do? My menescus tendons are both bad, and have been so since about 5 yrs old. When I describe what happens, no one has experienced such a thing. Susan--Oliver must have enjoyed snuggling up for a cozy nap. My dogs do to, but the furbabies must have their 17 hours sleep! Yes, do keep us informed on biopsy status. Shawnee--No more brats, be they children or adults next week at Curves for us, right? In a few minutes, I'm gonna take the self esteem quiz. Linda--I didn't get online till late, late.
