How to lose 12 pounds in 6 days

Get terribly ill with a viral respiratory infection, and be unable to consume anything but tea, black coffee, broth, and the occasional tiny meal of beef or chicken with steamed broccoli.

I don't recommend it.

Thanks everyone. I'm not on the mend. But I do believe it's "just" viral bronchitis. I put that in italics because although it rarely kills people it makes you wish it did.

OK... I tried to resist my natural urges, but you said "bronchitis", so I have to post this (feel free to ignore)

Combine the following dry ingredients in equal parts:
Dried licorice root
Dried horehound (aka "black horehound)
Dried marshmallow (the herb)
Dried coltsfoot.

Place one teaspoon full per cup of water in a muslin teabag. In a glass or ceramic tea pot or mug, pour BOILING water over it, cover, and let steep 5 minutes. Add honey and lemon, and drink. (Take as much steam into your lungs as possible.) (Honey is part of the medicine, but you can skip it if your need to.)

I PROMISE, it will help your cough. It will both get the gunk out of your airway, AND get rid of the spasmodic-coughs. This works far better than even prescription cough-medicines....

You're in Northern CA.... Coltsfoot can be hard to find, there. If you can't find coltsfoot, double the marshmallow.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I try to stop myself, but it's so deeply ingrained in me to want to help, and particularly with a cough.

Love this!!! I have a food co-op that has a huge herbal section. I'm doing much better but still coughing tons of clear stuff all night, would love to brew some specific herbs for this. Thank you.

I'm on the same "diet" right now and this is the first time in forever I am in the 130's. I feel terrible but great too! Hoping I can use this "opportunity" to keep it going. The only bad thing is I am on Prednisone and I know once I turn the corner the Steroid appetite will hit. Maybe this time will be different, 130's it's such a motivator. DH is stocking fridge with Jello, sugar free pudding and iced tea.

Thank you Literate!! I had bronchitis about 4 or 5 time in my first year of life. So now I get this in my lungs all the time. Sometimes twice a year! And it lasts for weeks...once it lasted 8 weeks and my husband was so worried about me. Hopefully I won't have to use this any time soon but nice to know I might have some help next time it happens.
