45 pounds in 7 months...

Well, I had my weigh in at my Doctors yesterday. I have lost 45 pounds since March 18th. My original goal was 60 pounds in 7 months, but I will accept that had I been a little younger and exercised a little more, that may have been realistic. And while I am thrilled with the weight loss, I am more excited about how much more control I have over my eating habits.

I have learned to recognize true hunger vs head hunger, portion control, and I no longer want to binge in the evening, which I think for me has always been my real weight problem. I don't turn to food when I am stressed, I eat more when I am truly hungry and less when I am not. And while I still need to lose 15 poiunds, I am sure those will come off after vacation.

I no longer treat low carb as a diet, but a way of life. And I know I may not always be in a situation where low carb is an option, like say on my day tour to Coba where food is provided, I can still make wise decisions in my choices- water instead of high calorie beverage or coffee, smaller portions and I don't have to eat high carb foods all day long, or make it a binge day!

I still try to stay under 20 carbs and keep calories at 1200-1400, but I do sometimes eat a little more. I still keep my fat moderate, using olive oil, eggs, mayo, and avacodo, and butter as my primary fats, and only using one serving a meal. I pretty much stick to induction foods and keep it simple.

I don't eat fat bombs, and the like because I our body will burn the fat we eat first and then our body fat, which if we eat excess calories of fat, our body fat will be used less, and weight loss will be slower. Some people are fine with losing a pound or 2 a month or less. Other people like me can become discouraged and give up if weight loss is too slow, especially those of us who have a lot to lose.

This is the lowest weight I have been in 8 years. My 17 year old doesn't even remember when I was thin! The other day I had on a tank top and took off my jacket to try on a cardigan at the store and she said to me " Wow Mom, I cant stop staring at you!" What a complement! Wait till she sees me after 15 more pounds!lol. All of my size 8's fit, but hoping to be a size 6 by New years!

That's awesome! I started 1 day before you (March 17th) and I've lost 46 lbs. I'm also wearing my size 8 jeans. lol, only thing different is I'm counting calories. I'm going to Orlando next week and I figured I would allow myself a 5 lb gain (hey it's Disney) if I should gain I will be on track again the next day. I hope to loose about 15 more and I will call it goal at a size 7. It feels great to be thin again doesn't it? I can't quit looking in the mirror. lol

That is awesome! Not only the loss, but what you learned along the way. And it doesn't matter how long it took to lose the weight because that time would have passed anyway, right?

Congrats to you too Aerogirl! I leave on Nov 3rd for 10 days in Mexico, and I just want to hold my weight, I do count calories and also keep a daily journal, but I am leaving my journal at home while on vacation, lol.
