Does your coconut oil get hard pieces in it?

I have noticed that as I use my CO, it gets little hard grains in it. It drives me crazy when I am applying it to my face. I have always used the Nutiva Brand CO and been very happy with it otherwise.

Also, I have noticed that in the grocery section of WalMart now, they have several brands of CO that seem to be the good kind to use. Anyone have any information on these brands? I know one of them is Sprectrum.

Thanks!

I have to soften mine (melt it a bit) to get it smooth enough to put on my skin.

Do the grains melt when you do, Skinny Panda?

I don't feel like it has grains when melted..........like you mean hard little pieces that won't soften and go away?

Yes, I know it melts at 76 degrees, but it still has those little hard grains or pieces in it. I wonder if it is the brand? I have always used Nutiva.

I believe those are coconut fibers. According to the Nutiva website they from the processing and are completely natural and have a nutritional value. Although, probably not desirable if you're using it on your face.

I am using the Trader Joes brand right now- I use it on my face to take my makeup off, and on my body as lotion. It does not have grains or pieces that dont melt.

I don't have a Trader Joes even close to me, but I think I will try a different brand next time. I don't remember the CO being this way when I first started using it.

Weird I use Nutiva and I got a bottle about 3 weeks ago that had the small grains that wouldnt disolve too. All bottles Ive gotten before and the one after were all fine. Maybe they had a bad batch!
