Who has a digital Body Fat % scale?

I am just wondering whether to pay the $120+ for a fancy scale that is digital and shows ounces, AND % of body fat... I am treating this new WOE as an experiment, and if I am losing muscle with my fat I want to know it so that I can tweak my protein %. If you have one of these fancy scales, what do you like or not like about it?

P.S. I do already have the kind of pedometer that wirelessly syncs to a program on the internet. I input my food and exercise that isn't just "step" related. I would buy the same brand of scale to complete the whole package.

Thanks!

I have a WW scale that does weight to the 1/10 pound which I LOVE! It also displays body fat percentage as well as how hydrated I am. There is a display of the fat in pounds I still have and I LOVE to watch that number go down. There are times that my weight goes up but that number stays the same and then I know that I am just retaining water and will have a whoosh sometime in the near future.

So after all this babbling, my short answer is YES! I do so love my scale with all the different numbers

I have a Fitbit Flex and the Fitbit Aria scale to go along with it.

I do not find the body fat percentage estimation on the Aria to be all that accurate. It generally keeps me around the same percentage each time, but I can see it go up or down around 2% points on what is seemingly random events (like I haven't changed what I've eaten or done anything that should have caused such a change - other than possible hydration levels, even though my fluid in-take is the same on most days and I always weigh first thing in the morning).

However, outside of that, I love the scale itself. I love the WiFi syncing and daily weighing now that I am in the maintain lane. It helps keep me motivated and disciplined to stay on track by monitoring myself daily so I don't start slipping up. And I also like the features and automatically having nice little graphs to check my fluctuations easily and trace them back to certain things I may have eaten or at least make me reflect a bit more on what could have been going on (thus, part of that keeping me disciplined part).

I do but I never use the BF% part. Never planned to. I got my Tanita Ironman scale for a more accurate scale weight.

None of the scales are accurate with BF%. I don't recommend spending the extra money just to get the BF%.

Hayek, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to use the brand since it is also an online tracker. Yes, that's what I have and I have a "zip" pedometer. Interesting about it's accuracy.. I read that on Amazon reviews, too..

Kimber's from Weight Watchers sounds better in that it also tells you how hydrated you are. I tend to forget about my water. Kimber, do you know if it has any kind of online program available for reports, etc.? I'll go look for it online.. but just wondered if you knew.

Thanks guys, this was exactly what I was looking for!

I love my Withings wifi scale, but I don't pay much attention to the BF% because I don't really trust it.

Starting this thread has prompted me to do more online shopping. OMG, there are so many brands of these scales that are so much less than the Aria which syncs with Fitbit... Like from $30-$55! Reviews are mixed on the algorithms and technology... but most people seem to really like them. The engineer brains are questioning their validity...

Some folks who like them talk about doing their own spreadsheet based on the results. By getting the Fitbit Aria I wouldn't have to do this extra step. Wonder if it's worth between $50 & $70 for this feature..?

I probably wouldn't have gotten the Aria (and maybe not even the Flex) if it weren't for the substantial discount I received on both of them because of the other options out there. However, I like the ecosystem so I'm glad I went with it and like all the automation over the spreadsheets I did previously.

I have a 10 year old accurate Tanita - accurate to 0.2#. It does have body fat %, but it's inaccurate and skewed by hydration night v. morning - however, this can be helpful if you weigh often because if you have decrease in weight, but an increase in body fat, you can interpret that at least some or all of the weight loss is due to dehydration.

I weigh daily - and have for a LONG time, so I do have a sense of where the body fat should end up - it's only a point of reference to suggest whether weight loss is water related.

I would get the body fat feature, but only as a point of reference to explain hydration.

I have one, and it's wildly inaccurate. I get a hydrostatic body analysis done every four months, and my BF% scale's results are nowhere near that of the (much more accurate) dunk test. My scale's BF% results put me 12-18 percentage points higher than I actually am! And yes, I follow the instructions, in terms of being properly hydrated.

Don't waste your money on the BF% part. I like the wifi syncing, but I pay absolutely no attention to the BIA results.

Thanks for your input Sbarr and Ntombi... I am still deciding what to do. I'm still at the beginning stages of becoming keto-adapted.. Once I add strength training to the mix I know I'll want an explanation if I don't lose well. I also don't drink enough water, and it will be a way to know if I am dehydrated. I realize now that it isn't perfect...

Thanks again for your input!

I was at Walmart today and looked at bathroom scales.. Accidentally, a Weight Watchers/Conair brand Body Fat, BMI, Water and Bone Mass scale flew off the shelf and fell into my cart.. It was only $35ish... I think I'll play around with it and if I like what it does I'll invest in the sync one from Fitbit. I just really wanted it! LOL - Once I think about something I can't get it out of my mind!

Although I'm not looking forward to what it says at the beginning of this journey, I AM looking forward to the changes in the future.. how's that for positive thinking?

ugh, I can't get it to work properly!! And, DDeb, yeah - I know.. I want to experiment with how certain foods affect me, BUT if it becomes too much where I feel good/bad that day because of it, it's back to once a week!
