Get yourself a scale! It is amazing how often you think you are right and you aren't. And I am low more often than I am high when measuring my food. Mine was less than $15 and so worth it!

I lost a 12 yr friendship because she didn't want to socialize without food. The other friend followed low carb, lost 100 pounds while I was losing my weight. Imagine this ex friend's surprise when she saw us at the mall lookin' & feelin' good!!!

I weigh pretty much everything, including the spices. It's a great tool but a little addictive and not good for my OCD

I always make the recipes the same exact same way and in the exact same quantity (except for the meats because it's impossible to get the same weight each time, but that only varies about 5%). I know how much I want of the micronutrients and I know how much I need to be satisfied so I never eat bigger or smaller. My intake of the day can vary a little though because sometimes I eat two meals while I have three on others (two large, one small).

omg Food Lady and here I thought I was the only one who found the grocery store weirdly relaxing??? Our idea of a party would just be...grocery shopping together, I guess. What a wild Friday night.

And do you mean a food scale? Or people scale? Because I have found a food scale to be super useful, especially in baking.

I think she meant a people scale which lead met to think of a food scale.

Mr. Geiri, that is a good idea to keep everything the same every day. Even weight the spices which I think is good because they do have carbs.

I meant a "people scale". LOL I was at the grocery tonight for 1 1/2 hours, and I only needed a couple of things.

Yes they tend to be about 40-60% carbs.

Although it's small quantities at a time it can still be few grams a day, especially if you like it a little bit spicy like I do. On average I'm getting about 5 grams of carbs a day just from spices.

I have to take back what I said though about weighing the spices. Usually it's such a small amount that it's difficult to rely on the scale. I do have a tiny spoon which is 1 ml or about 1/5 of a teaspoon. I use that and can from that estimate the weight. I tend to use it about 5 times for each meal, each type of spice being 1 or 2 spoons (1-2 ml). I can't just shake it straight out of the jar that is way too much chaos for me Measurements and more measurements for me.

I have not had any problems socializing. I just pick different food.

A few times I have pointed out I'm there for the good company, not the food. That seems to work well. lol...

This weekend was a little microcosm of how and why I got like I got. I was out of town for only 2.5 days. I didn't go hog wild but I did eat things I don't usually. 8 pounds! No wonder.

I didn't need a reminder that low carb is THE way for me BUT it's a cementer when you see how easy it goes up in such a short period of time. Back to clean eating now and, I have to say, I MISSED it. I visit the carbs from time to time, but it's only a visit. I do not miss them on a daily basis at all.

Even if I try to eat in social settings, I really don't trust what may be in something. We went for breakfast and I had an omlet and I kept tasting something sweet??? My father inlaw did enjoy my hashbrowns, and DD and DH ate my toast.

Lots of restaurants put pancake batter in their eggs to make fluffy omelets. I bet that's what you tasted. Ick!

I'll order plain eggs but not an omelet or any other dish that might have mystery ingredients added. I like eating out but I will always have trust issues where my food is concerned.

Twice today I explained my special surgical needs (no sugars in IVs etc.). Once to my podiatrist/surgeon, one to a gal at the outpatient surgical center. I expect to get to explain two more times, once when the surgical center calls me the day before surgery, once the morning of my surgery.

I'm not sure what I said exactly, but I explained long enough that I was sure they understood. Neither understood at my first effort. lol...

Andreas "food revolution" book came out in Icelandic last month and I just heard about it now. I can't believe it was published before the English one.

It's difficult to decide whether to get it though. I usually prefer nutrition books in English (because I've gotten to know the science in English) and it's not available as an E-book which I prefer.

Buy or wait til October... hmmmm

I'm seeing some 12 oz packages but there are still more 16 oz ones here, thank goodness. I have gotten in the habit of checking how many ounces the paackages have though. The price just keeps going up!

You write English so well that I feel like you're American, as you use our slang perfectly.

I did this and put it in individual desert cups and froze them. If you get it out of the freezer at the right time, it tastes and has the consistancy of fudge pops!
