When everyone around you is horrified you are eating pork rinds, and you are just horrified you discovered wheat flour and sugar in the ingredient list.

The ingredients in the lettuce wraps are also cooked, infused in sugar sauces during the prep whether they say it or not, it's in there. They may think that because they aren't adding white sugar that it doesn't have sugar in it but using oranges or lemons or apricot is still sugar but not in their minds perhaps..
Otherwise you would only be left with a salty soy taste.
It's the ying and yang/sweet and sour that gives the flavor to a lot of this food.
It's just the way it is...you only have either salt or sugar to season, maybe with a chili base. Unless they are using water in the sauce instead of sugar to add moisture to the prep. They can use rice vinegar with soy but that makes a pretty tart taste without any sugar.
If you found one that only has clean meat and vegetables with absolutely no marinating, then you are lucky...
All the lettuce wraps I've seen are just large pieces of lettuce with nothing on them. The meats probably have a marinade that contains sugar. The amounts don't bother me or impede my weight loss.

I have gotten this. People usually have an idea that pork rinds are the worst of the worst snack you can eat, much worse than potato chips or candy bars.

When I was buying a bag of pork rinds, the checkout clerk looked sad and said she wished she could eat pork rinds but was told that they were bad for us. I wondered if she said and felt the same of potato chips?

When you grow increasingly frustrated with how you can't REALLY get accurate nutritional info on a restaurant meal since they didn't calculate without the croutons, sugary sauces, and fries like you'll be ordering.

Oooh, or when you laugh and laugh and laugh at the menu listing the "guilt free" version of a dish could be ordered "without guacamole". Seriously??

When your friends start ordering low carb menu items when they go out to eat with you! Just because yours looks good, and they think twice about a big plate full of french fries!

THIS. I never eat the seed and inner gloopy stuff. Probably the part I'm eating is the most carb-heavy anyway, but I always wonder.

This is just about the best thing! I don't run but I am fairly active and it seems the more active, the less I am bothered with food.

I made it sound like I run with snacks.

I drove to the park where I ran and had the snack in the car for when I was done.

Someone told me that a mountain lion had been spotted earlier that morning, so I did run with a few rocks in my pocket.

When you realize you are struggling to find full fat everything in the grocery store. Even my little ones I give the fullest fat milk and yogurt(plain, no sugar, but we out in berries ourselves) I can find and sometimes its very hard to find.

I also fib about giving them low fat milk on the standardized pediatrician questionnaire at well visits. One time he asked me (they are both lean and muscular kids who eat real food) and then I told him the truth, I didn't believe in low fat diets especially for kids, he didn't even give me a hard time so I figured he was a keeper.

Your kids are eating some new sweet potato chips, and you look at the nutrition label, and do the math to figure out carbs per chip! Less than 1g per chip, in case you were wondering.

Anyone have a good recipe for jalapeno poppers?

I have a deep fryer and tried one once made with flaxseeds and cheese and it was just awful. I can't seem to like anything with flaxseeds because that's all I taste whenever I use it (and I don't like it).

I half the peppers and take out seeds. Fill them with cream cheese and wrap in bacon. Put on pan and cook till bacon is super crispy Yum Yum..... can be put on grill too, but bacon won't crisp up as much -- I like it crunchy

I don't do the breaded deep fried ones at all.

Yeah man, simple simple. Those are the best ones.

I've also made them like that, but took lil smokies and put in the cream cheese (a whole or half smokie), then wrap in bacon and bake. Any of the others that mess with the recipe are not for me. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
