For me the best part is the eggs, veg, and bacon so I've always skipped the starchy sides.

When the food truck people know you order your Greek food, "meat combo over salad, no rice, no bread;" your Korean food, "extra spicy beef, egg, all veggies, no rice;" and your ethiopian food, "meat and veggie combo, no lentils, no injera, no rice."

Your low fat vegetarian boyfriend automatically takes the fresh, hot bread the waiter just put on your plate, and replaces it with his portion of bacon.

When you check Low Carb Friends fifty times a day to check for new posts.

When you take your own meal to a dinner at someone else's house, yes I did that.

When your non LC spouse starts checking the carb content of food.

When you sneak in your own salad dressing to a restaurant.

One of my best friends is vegan, and we eat out together all the time. By now, we order, get our respective verboten foods on the side, and swap, all without even talking about it.

Wouldn't the test sticks used to detect glucose in urine work for this? I don't know for sure, it's just an idea... it seems an readiness to keep peeing on little sticks is a LC thing!

Another symptom is wanting to tell the slightly chubby person behind you at the checkout to for heaven's sake bin their 'low fat muesli'' and 'skimmed milk' and so on... mind you, I guess any WOE you feel passionate about includes a similar enthusiasm!

I get some very funny looks for stocking up on cream and butter, and steak, women my age group who are carrying a few extra pounds are evidently supposed to go for rabbit food!

You could always take a test sample from the bottle and boil it and see what happens

Your reason for not eating something is, you don't feel like writing it down (or logging it in).

yep. The food shuffle is part of my family's eating out experience.

also - you know you're a low-carber when you cook a pack a bacon for the family and another pack for yourself.

edited to add another thought: When cooking for the family, does anyone else spit out the "test" noodle after checking to see if the noodles are cooked?

We have this conversation at our house too. My son always complains of being fed too much meat. He's SICK of it. Lol. Lucky for him he's a self sufficient teenager.

When you have to eat fast food and order a double or triple meat but then using the bun only to hold the insides like eating a banana and pealing back the bread and tossing it as you go.

When we go out to the local family restaurant for breakfast we split a meal. I eat the eggs and bacon, my husband eats the home fries and toast. Kinda like the old children's poem about Jack Sprat.
