Coconut Oil

I need the lowdown on the benefits of coconut oil. Please share your experiences. Also -- what have you found to be the best brand?

And a quick thanks to everyone who has responded to several of my questions. It has been 8 years since I last went the low carb route and the memory ain't what it used to be -- plus so much has changed.

Love to all.

Hi Gel,
I get the lowest priced organic any brand. I eat by thr tablespoon while I am preparing food. Then when I eat my brain is all ready on its way to satisfied.

Do a web search the benefits are many......

Best wishes :)

I buy unrefined organic too, and can typically find some on sale.
I don't care so much about brand.
Some people don't like the coconut flavor . . . the unrefined is flavorless.
I've also been told that a little salt can remove the coconut taste.
I can say whether that is true . . . I like my salt and my coconut oil but wouldn't put the two together to remove the taste.

I have learned to like it as my sweet. I mix coco powder into it and a bit of heavy cream or splenda...like a little bit of pudding.

very satisfying. gets your fats in....esp. when I am just eating lean meats

I think the refined has no flavor? Either way I like Spectrum and Trader Joes. No flavor. :)

Anything organic for ingesting. I use the cheaper Louana for other things like making my own raw sugar/olive oil/coconut oil body scrub.
