Wheat Belly folks..... hows it coming....

Was checking out a few posts from the beginning of the year from those who were giving up the wheat..... was wondering how that was coming along for you.... did you lose... did you improve your inflammation issues...etc.....

Have the book....haven't read it!

But, I am wheat free, and have been since last August except for being glutened a few weeks ago. Oy, that was painful!! In this instance I developed very painful skin lesions. Never again....

If you're thinking of going gluten free, I say do it! Many think it's difficult, but it really isn't. Even when I'm not LC, there are so many gluten free alternates available. The thing is, many people don't even realize they have a gluten issue until they detox and then ingest gluten....yes, the symptoms can easily be 10x worse!

Oh, and did I lose? Yes, until I found waaaay too many gluten free substitutes. Oops. But my belly is so much flatter! (Ignore the adage that it's the last to go....I lost my belly first!)

Wheat belly is the book that started me on low carb. I still avoid breads, pasta, all the dough based deserts, and do not believe in "healthy" whole grains.
I have gained gained a few pounds from my lowest point, which was 4 pounds below my goal weight, but have been maintaing at my current weight for several months, with very little fluctuation. There are acutally two joys to the grain free woe spelled out in Wheat Belly. The first is the weight loss. Nothing else worked for me untill I went lc. but the big plus is the abscence of joint pain....I'm 64 years old and had chronic knee pain, but Since I went LC in Sept. 2012 I've been virtually pain free. A real joy.
I am totally on board the Wheat Belly wagon

I eliminated grain completely when I went on this diet. This makes it hard for me to discern whether I'm experiencing the benefits of ketosis or the lack of grains. I know I had problems with grains, though, and I think I'm much better off without.

Going on 5 yrs. of being grain free along with being ketogenic. I wouldn't still be doing it if I wasn't getting tremendous benefits that are too long to list.

I have virtually eliminated having to take meds for GERD/Reflux so that pain is gone. I have much reduced inflammation (I almost look like I have lymphedema on wheat/carbs) .. and my arthritis is like sooooo much better. Even if I never dieted again I don't think I could go back to eating wheat so not worth it. sigh.
