best time of day to eat carbs?
so i've lost 12-13 lbs in last 20 days. weight loss has been sluggish last few days but i'm not overly worried. haven't been cheating. most of my 12-18 carbs a day are eaten around dinner it seems, and dinner can be anywhere from at 4pm to 7pm depending on when i get home from work. i can't really control when i eat dinner but maybe it is better to try and eat the carbs at breakfast? often i am not hungry at lunch especially if im focused on work. curious to see how others space out their carb intake.

I space mine between lunch and dinner - breakfast is a zero carb bulletproof coffee. Your weight loss is great - I'd say keep up with what you're doing if it feels right.

I read somewhere that carbs eaten before bedtime help you to sleep. I don't know if that's valid though.

I do best with biggest carbs at breakfast or lunch. keep the small veggie carbs for dinner. It just feels less bloaty if I eat a lighter dinner and then bedtime is easier on the old gut :)

My best time is at lunch, but that doesn't help you. Maybe divide them between your two meals?

Lunch would be my preference, but it's only a preference.
I do eat breakfast, but usually get only the carb in my eggs.

At breakfast to give me energy to start the day. That and coffee. Once I get going, I don't need much carbs for lunch and not much for dinner. :)

Same. Most of my carbs are from the HWC used in my morning coffee (4:30am). couple more for Dinner (6:30pm-7:30pm)

I eat an early and good breakfast ....no lunch but will sometimes have one Atkins bar....then I eat an early supper and no food after 5:30 PM....Just water or a diet soda...

It is best to spread carbs out with 10-12 carbs max at one meal to avoid too big an increase in insulin. Several LC diet plans I've read and/or done over the years make this point. From what I have read, those with more serious BS issues may do best with fewer carbs for breakfast.

My breakfast usually consists of protein & fat, no carbs, lunch varies from no carbs to just a few from veggies, and dinner is usually the highest, averaging about 10g total carbs from vegetables. I do not normally snack at all.

Dr. Richard Bernstein recommends spreading carbs out during the day (as Deb mentions) for diabetics to help regulate blood sugar. I'm not diabetic, but I've always followed his advice.
