Ive been knocked out of ketosis but not sure why?Help!!

Ive been eating low carb for 3 days and in the evening Ive tested using ketosticks and was very happy to see purple showing!
Today Ive had so far omelet with mushrooms and cheese and salad with some coleslaw.Salad was just some green leafs and cucumber with a dollop of coleslaw on top.When I got home the stick showed me I'm not in ketosis anymore but I don't understand why??Ive been drinking water the whole day and Ive had a few cups of black coffee so for sure no sugar!Does anyone have an idea of what could have happened?Maybe I'm doing something wrong??

Did you make the coleslaw? If not, there's usually sugar in the dressing. Could also be all the water you've been drinking (which is a good thing)- it may be diluting your readings... Just a thought. Sounds like you've been eating well.

I don't put much stock in ketostix, but I agree that unless you made the coleslaw yourself you should assume it is loaded with sugar.

Thank you all for the reply Ive made coleslaw myself at work we use hellmans mayo.It may be the water than maybe...I will do another reading this evening hopefully will be better.Thank you again for your help.

Ketostix can only tell you were in ketosis sometime in the recent past but they cannot tell you that you are not in ketosis. The more diluted your urine is, the lighter your 'colour' is likely to be. Try not to obsess. I know it can be hard but you are eating well and the rest will come.

I've read that the stix are really not worth it and are often misinterpreted. Although I thought it would take a bit longer than three days to get into ketosis, too, so...

Ive been on low carb before but then Easter came and with it all the yummy food that are traditional in my family and I ate some carbs but then went straight back on low carb.Maybe that's why it took only 3 days to get back into it.I will take it easy with the sticks all though I find it so motivating when I see it turn purple!

Lots of water = diluted pee (skewed results)

If you're going to use ketostix, best bet is consistently in the mornings before consumption.
