Does Aunt Flow Stall You?

Should I expect a woosh when she leaves?? Someone please give me some good news here ... grrr ...:dunno:

I always stall during TOM, and I almost always see some sort of loss after.

Sending you whoosh vibes! :)

afurrything 04-23-2014 04:54 AM

Yep. In general I think men lose faster than women anyway and then we also have to deal with this every month. It's not fair(said in my best 2 year old tantrum voice)

I might be an exception, but it has not really impacted my weight more than a pound or two, which could be ordinary water fluctuation.

peanutte 04-23-2014 06:22 AM

Me neither.

Like clockwork, I'm always up by 3 pounds until she hits the road!

same here. Exactly.

natural_born_texan 04-23-2014 07:52 AM

Yes, my weight increases, but I haven't nailed down a pattern yet. I'm only on my second month of Atkins. I've noticed an increase during ovulation too.

Menstruation and ovulation both give me noticeable scale bounces. I tend to lose well in between them, though.

Ditto. I creep up slowly, starting about a week before. It's usually gone by the time it's over, accompanied by a woosh.

Not to be graphic, but fluid has weight...

Same here! I don't even like to weigh myself during that time even though I expect to see what I see. :dunno:

Ding, ding, ding. This is me, too. I knew enough to not be upset about my fluid retention during menstruation but it took me longer to figure out the pattern of ovulation, as well.

I really enjoy the scale numbers on those off weeks, though!

I stall like crazy and it takes a couple days for the ol' hormones to settle down before I get my woosh but it does happen. For example, I gained 3kg of water weight this time. It went two days after Aunt Flo left but I probably won't see much loss for a week.

Some women report interesting things if they've taken hormonal birth control in the past as fat can store hormones and chemicals. During my weeks of biggest losses, I was pretty PMSed even though it wasn't on schedule. Don't expect my experiences to reflect the majority of women, though. A bad reaction to Yasmin after 5 years taking it has really messed me up.

Aunt Flow has finally lost my address ...

This too! I feel like I retain water two of the 4 weeks each month. Ugh.

proverbsgirl76 04-25-2014 07:06 AM

Thank you all for the feedback - I feel loads better now ... Grrrrr, the scale still won't move. I was on such a high with that quick 10lb loss, too.

I will say this, though. I, too, noticed it when I started to ovulate. I don't feel as swollen as I usually do this month, but not losing had my head spinning. TOM is mean, just mean ...

I guess have a woosh to look forward to - Can't wait! I'll definitely let y'all know what happens.
