Onederland

Nice, very nice - wasn't expecting it since I'd already lost almost 3# this week, but I hit it. 199.6. Down 20# this year and the last 11# were this month. Long ways to go, but no rush - although I must admit, it was nice breaking this century mark on the day of my daughter's big birthday pool party - est. 20 kids plus parents, many of whom I don't know.

The number 1 seems a bit strange - it's been several years, really since about 2008 after my daughter was born when it started climbing.

I can credit it to close tracking, staying absolutely within my macros: 18 carb, 70 protein, 114 fat. My food tracking tool is great to plan the upcoming day and aggregate ingredients for a meal and then portioning it out. While I had thought that protein was almost unlimited, I'm finding that keeping it moderate seems to work for me now and I love the feeling of being in ketosis. I've settled into some really good recipes where meat is the garnish, not the base.

Anyways, happy Saturday! Off to go deliver and pump up pool toys.

Psssst...Nothing tastes as good as ketosis feels!

Thank you everyone.

Aimee - I'll hold the door open for you!

The party was awesome - I was going non-stop, making sure everyone had what they needed - there were probably 45 people there. All I consumed during the whole party was 1 litre of water, a couple of bites of cake (everyone said it was good - I wasn't that impressed. I'm not sure if my tastebuds have changed.) I ate a couple of bites as I was clearing up, then tossed the plate. Then ate the cheese off a couple of pizza slices when I got home. I just ate a slice of cake with frosting about an inch wide and a few inches long - and it was ok (and worth the experiment), but nothing I'd bother to eat again. Talk about slaying a dragon! This is one of the better known bakeries in the city, huge reputation and now, next time it's offered, I can pass - it just didn't really do anything for me (unlike a couple of years ago when I really enjoyed it).

One nice thing about ketosis - the energy, the lack of appetite, no blood sugar low. I think I can do this a long time!

Just took my blood ketone level - at 1.2 (about an hour after the couple of nibbles of cake). Since I ate the small slice, I will test again in 2 hours to see what happened from eating that cake. Funny thing - more than actually wanting the cake, I am curious to see how it will affect my ketone level. Now that is geeky...

sbarr - what ketones test do you use that give you a number? I only see the strips that turn colors?

webcrystal - I use the Abbott Precision Xtra blood ketone meter... it's a bit of a splurge, the unit costed about 25 and the strips cost 2 apiece, but it's considered the gold standard for measuring blood ketones. I don't think very many people use them unless they're trying to stay in nutritional ketosis. I started about a month ago and it's been pretty successful for me.
