Sick to my stomach

OK, people... I need to really look at what is going on here. I threw up yesterday and today. I know it is nerves because of everything going on, but why am I having such issues with digestion as I increase my fat and caloric intake?

I don't think I am the only one who has had stomach/digestive issues ( at least I hope not) as they follow this plan.

Let me tell you what I ate

12- basted egg whites and veggies 3 egg whites, 1 yolk.
still hungry
30z of grill chicken breast ( on my way to next class walking)...

5- more grill chicken ( 5oz)

8- MORE GRILL CHICKEN ( omg) MY FRIEND MADE A CHICKEN BURRTIO BUT GAVE ME THE FIXINGS.. IT HAD OIL..

Then, I bought a small bag of pork rinds and ate them in the car... ( (ridiculous).

Came home and felt sooooo sick. and ended up throwing up when I had a sip of water. seriously???

My new goals are the following:

NO MORE EATING in the car
NO more eating standing up
NO MORE FREE SAMPLES AT WHOLE FOODS or the COOP.. this adds up... and then I sit down to eat, and I am full . Regardless if it is low carb, I dont feel proper this way of eating. I need to get some control over this.

Am I the only one who deals with this stuff? geez, you would think I would be skinny as a rail but I am not even losing weight for pete's sake.

I guess I just want a reminder to not give up on eating all together. Maybe smaller portions and really monitoring my food intake more appropriately will help.

I just had stomach flu (gastroenteritis) for the almost a week. Is it possible you're sick?
Pork rinds don't agree with everyone...

I've never actually had pork rinds, but from the looks of them I think they might make me sick.

I think the same thing every time I see tofu or sushi.

I felt sick before the pork rinds but thoguht I needed some fat to help with the protein overload.

no, I am not sick with flu.. it is nerves, or fatigue or just too much stress about what the heck to eat or not eat.

and... definitely not pregnant if that is another thought anyone might be thinking

now that you mention it, I threw up on pork rinds the last time I tried to eat them.

I do think a probiotic is necessary to help me digest my food. I feel like it was working better when I had it before. I just didnt have the money to get some. Tomorrow I will.

I am mad at myself for eating too much protein. Stupid.

It could be that your digestive system just isn't dealing well with the sudden increased calories. Perhaps if you go slow and increase your calories a bit every day?

Fats in particular can be hard for your body to adjust to even when you've been eating a normal amount of calories. Adding a lot of fat when you've been cutting back so much, probably makes it harder. Focus on getting your protein up first, so you don't lose lean muscle mass. Then work on the fat.

What fats? Egg whites, grilled chicken breast - not seeing any fat in the menu.
Is all you're eating protein? Nothing else?

How tall are you Peace?
117 may not be "skinny as a rail," but maybe it's where you body wants to be?
Just a thought . . . .

Hi there, seconding what Dottie just posted - where are you fats?

The nausea might just be nerves and anxiety - you seem to be pretty on edge these days. Totally understandable with your life and everything that is going on. Be gentle with yourself - you need to take care of yourself.

Each day is a data point, not a pattern - now if you were sick a half dozen times over a couple of weeks, then you could infer some correlation if the conditions were the same.

There are some reasons for not eating in the car, including safety - was that the reason?
Re: Eating standing up - again, there could be reasons including speed of eating, not recognizing portions, etc.

And you are thin, sweetie (I can't say skinny as a rail, not knowing your body structure) - 115# at 5'4" is something I will never see - I never even got there in grad school, I got down to 135. I hit 116# in undergrad when I was 21 and was so thin I hurt all the time.

What's your reason for your goal weight? Is it cosmetic? Have you considered that maybe your body is where it wants to be. Maybe your next goal could be something other than weight loss, but something nourishing and gentle for your body

Thanks, I think you are right about the nerves and anxiety, but this too shall pass.

Gosh, after reading this, I felt better... I need to be kind to myself. I am so hard on myself.

Yep, I am very rarely sick, so I dont think there is a correlation between the two of low carb and sick.. more about the other factors.

AWwwww thank you for saying I am thin, this is nice to hear from an outsider. I weighed in at 117 today which is a bit high for me but can't stress it. I will debloat I am sure.

Hi 5'4, 117.

Dottie-- I had some pork rinds and earth balance butter.. YUCK! Yes, yesterday was a ridiculous "off" day... all I did was eat protein and I am not happy with myself. Need to let it go. I am in a new day today, so time to move forward.

Peace,
Not sure how old you are, but at age 25, your ideal weight calcs are:
Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 123.0 lbs
Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 129.1 lbs
Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 120.6 lbs
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 119.7 lbs

Interesting how the newer the formula, the higher the weight - but, Peace, this really shows you - your weight is fine. You may want to lower it, so definitely tweak it if you want, but 4 formulas - all 30+ years old show you as being below the range, so this isn't even manipulated to accommodate our new heavier population - these were all from before you were even BORN!

I am 39, but everyone says I look 25... which is good I guess. I had a salad with chicken for lunch and a very small piece of salmon.

I think my mood is bad today because I am not getting enough cardio. I am making new goals.

also, the salt/food from the last few days is taking a toll on me. I hope I can lose this weight. I know I need to lose about 5 lbs because I am not comfortable at all. I am really thinking about getting a new scale, and new shirt or something other than food to keep me focused on positive.

Peace - I don't think any one type of food is going to make you tired - it could be any number of factors. I think one of the challenges here is to NOT draw conclusions from one day or even two - but that you need consistent observations over many days. Our bodies are just so temperamental - and with you being under such stress, that's probably what is causing the nausea, the tired feeling. Have you been sleeping?

Hi

Yeah, you are right. I just need to take it easy, but this week is rough.

Also, why am I eating sooo much protein? it really is gross.

Today I had salad with chicken breast for lunch (felt bloated and way too full)

Dinner- salad with 2 cans of tuna. One in olive oil and one in water. One teaspoon of EVOO. Seriously, that is annoying. I feel like my body is getting used to eating all that protein and it needs to get curbed NOW.

Also, had some almonds that were raw, so didn't feel so bad.

Carbs were under 20.

You eat your protein macro to maintain your muscle mass.

Thanks backseat, but seriously... I am well over my count. Dinner had 50 g of protein alone. Ridiculous.

Lunch- 35-40.

Oh, well, guess it is better than the carbs.

Sometimes I feel sick to my stomach on this WOE... Although I have never vomited. I attribute it to high fat intake. I have to realize that I don't have to eat so much to be satisfied.

You shouldn't be eating more protein than what your macro suggests.

To make up the extra calories, add fat and/or rearrange how you're eating your protein so you get a little bit eat each meal along with the fat and veg.

So-

Eat protein up to the macro limit
Eat veg as allowed by the carb limit
Eat fat with every meal to help reach your caloric limit
