A "Stall" In Losing Weight

I just want to clear something up about a "stall". This term is used far more than it should, in my opinion and doesn't usually apply in most cases.

From the Atkins Book: A stall is only considered a stall when it's 4 WEEKS OR MORE.

Not losing weight for a few days, and sometimes several, should not be considered a stall. Most likely it's your body adjusting to the weight loss that has already happened.

2 WEEKS is a stall, anything less is not.

My weight hasn't changed more than 3 pounds in over 2 weeks now. I am doing nothing differently. But my weight fluctuates between 254 and 257. It's been in that range for 2-3 weeks.

I always thought a stall was when no weight or inches was lost for 6 weeks?

I've been at this weight for a few months, and size for a few weeks now, and am still working to determine why there is no change. I'm now looking at this as a stall, rather than an adaptation.

I stalled for three years! I will say though that in those three years I maintained a 80 lb weight loss
A couple months ago my dr was trying me on some new meds and I ended up gaining 20 lbs, so I'm back here on induction. I'm hoping this time I make it to goal. I was about 20 lbs from it last time.

LOL, Beeb, then I stall regularly! My weight loss goes like this: week 1: weightloss, week 2: no weightloss, week 3 weight gain because of TOM, week 4: whoosh, week 5: minimal weightloss, week 6: no weightloss, etc, etc...

I totally get this! I just keep seeing people mentioning when they are in a "stall" after only several days of not losing anything. Just thought it should be clarified for all of us!

My wife seems to think my stall is because I lost 6 pounds with my "stomach flu" a few weeks back. She was sure I'd gain it back, but I never did. I lost a few more pounds after that then have gained those few back, and lost them again. I try to not weigh myself every day. Sometimes I do it for curiosity.

I lose no weight all month, and then with my cycle, I lose a bunch. Every month its lower than the last, but it only drops after my period.

So I am stalling all the time! But this is the way my body works. I think its better this way, because my body seems to refuse to lose weight until it fully adjusts. Bodies take time to change.

This is the definition of a true fat-loss stall and is not associated with a specific diet plan.

If a specific diet book wants to redefine a stall for that specific diet, it can do that.

Site/book says a stall is 4 weeks or more no weight or inches lost.
