What Foods Keep You on LC's?

I guess each of us have certain food items we crave or just plain like. For me having low carb bread (2 Carbs), Silk milk original (30 calories), avocados and the occasional LC chocolate. These items just make LC more pleasurable for me to the point I can not only stay with LC but enjoy it. What item(s) help you with LC?

I never tire of eggs, avocados, and a good spreadable cheese (that I can put on celery or a good flax seed cracker). I'd also be lost without dark roast coffee with some good assortment of added fat -- CO, HWC, MCT oil, or butter and pinch of salt.

Your list wouldn't help me at all, excepting the lovely avocado.

I swear I could eat bacon and eggs all day long. I don't, but I could.

Other greats include steak, cheese, avocado, seafood and spinach noodles.

Cheeseburgers. 2 beef patties, hand pressed, grilled, with cheese mustard, fraks hot sauce, my own michigan style hot dog sauce, all nice and juicy and flavorful, OR a nice big fatty juicy ribeye cooked medium with a blob of butter on top, both served with a mix of green leaf salad with butter leaf drizzled with olive oil and vinegar, OR shrimp! Sautéed drowned in butter and garlic.....

Too many choices, all of which you cannot have on low fat

While Googling and searching low carb recipes, I came across various stews and soups. This is my version of a meatball stew. I was very shocked to see that I could eat it daily for weeks and still lose weight (I was concerned about the meatballs). But if you are interested here's the recipe:

Note: Armour meatballs do have flour in them.

Milk chocolate sweetened with stevia. Sometimes knowing that those few squares of chocolate are waiting for me at the end of the day is what keeps me going. Strange but true!

Hi Bill...

I keep me on this way of eating. After this many years, it's not a burden, it's just the way I eat. And there's plenty of life for us beyond our eating.

No food in particular keeps me on Low Carb. I choose every day to eat this way so I don't have to contract Goodyear to make clothing for me.

We enjoy a large variety of foods. I don't miss the bread, sweets, pie, cake etc. I avail myself to all the wonderful 'other' foods (candies, bars etc), but don't crave them. It was just a matter of learning what I should/should not eat and what makes me happy.

Then the recipes I can convert I convert. Things I cannot convert get left behind.

I go through meat prominant days, and cheese focused days, and home made Yogurt days, and vegetable days...but to me it has to be a reasonably balanced system, or I will not stay on it. For the most part, we just keep a constant variety of food going through the pantry/fridges.

I love to cook and that probably contributes more to our being able to sustain a life of low carb. It is a prep-heavy with lots of clean up way of eating.

And once every 5-6 weeks we go for a normal meal. Our rules are:
  • Order anything you want from the menu
  • No take home allowed
  • Counts as zero carbs, and we continue our normal day the minute we walk out of the restaurant

Been doing it for many years without it knocking me off-plan.

Of course we have collected favorite foods/recipes, and we fix them routinely. But we never get bored or into a rut.

Greens in butter (kale, spinach, asparagus...)

Creamy, sauce-like yolk from a fried egg over a crispy slice of bacon


Mmm, I'm almost drooling now! Yet, I'm not hungry and will not be for several hours.... Now *that* is what keeps me on LC the most.

Since most woe except for vegan /vegetarian include meats and veggies the SPECFIC food that makes this woe feel totally normal would be oopsie rolls .

I learned how to make them well. There is nothing bready sweet to savory that they can't substitute . Very portable and very breadlike.

Pork rinds .... Never think about chips... Well occasionally

Almond and coconut flour for breadinh things.

Those three things are just as good as the carby stuff and just as versatile that it didnt even seem like a transition.

This is it for me as well. It isn't a burden and I enjoy it. It also keeps me weight down where I want it.

This week what is keeping me going (besides loving the way I look and feel!) is:

Whole roasted chicken with plenty of EVOO and fresh thyme
Sauteed peppers (red, orange, and yellow) and red onion until they are soft and mellow
Big salad of mixed greens and whatever else I have on hand with plenty of EVOO and lemon juice dressing. Today I've topped it with onions, cottage cheese, and capers

My anytime favorites include garlic shrimp, excellent wings, clotted cream, and sea bass.

Had I not found GLCBC I would probably have failed by now. I was doing great early February but just stagnating a bit. I am a Bread lover to the core. If there was a bread and butter diet I would be the first in line for a membership. Growing up my mom would make 12 loaves on a weekend and id eat one the second it came out of the oven.
Without the bagels, sesame bread, etc id have failed a long time ago.
Im starting to get sick of eggs. I haven't made an omelet in a couple of weeks. Im sick of bacon, in fact im sick of all the traditional LC foods. Turkey sandwhichs on GLCBC onion pockets are keeping me afloat right now.
I only have 5 lbs to go (if I stop at this weight, which was historically been my standard weight) so im just buckling down to get there. Once there, im terrified.

My BPC and I also like to peel a whole lemon and blend it up with water, ice and stevia for a great low carb lemonade that not only tastes great but is great detox and cancer preventer. Especially when most of us can't afford organic everything...nice to have some good cleansing going on
