New here!!
Hi everyone, I'm new the this forum. I have about 100 pounds to loose, maybe more, but decided to keep it at an even 100. I'm on day 4 of induction and my scale says I'm down 10 pounds as of today. Not sure I really believe it, most of it is probably water, or the other, uh, crap, I've been trying to rid myself of.

The straw that broke the camels back is my getting ready to have knee surgery. Luckily it's not anything weight related, though being over weight certainly doesn't help with recovery, so that's why I'm here on this journey.

Today is really the first day I haven't woken up wanting to chew my own arm off. It seems I'm over that hump - no more cravings, and no insatiable feelings. It actually feels good to think that I HAVE to eat, not that I'm DYING to eat, you know?

Anyway, I hope to stick around and actually make this work. We have a function tonight and it will be the first time I've had to deal with eating out. I've already looked at the menu trying to figure out what I'm going to eat, if at all, and would really love some suggestions on eating out while in ketosis. I've already determined I won't be drinking alchohol, not even a gin and tonic (which is usually my go-to drink). Water it is. As for everything else, who knows.

Welcome to LCF! Sounds like you are doing great. I am on day 3 of my diet plan today. Yesterday was a lot better as far as hunger goes.

Welcome! I am on day 4 of induction. Next Tuesday my family is coming to visit for my brother's birthday and we are going to a restraunt so I too will soon face the problem of eating outside of the home! Good luck to you!

you sound like you are starting off with a great attitude.

eating out is easy truly. order a steak and veggies. some garlic butter on those veggies. skip the breads/taters and all that mess.

one thing 'might' happen is sodium from eating out. whenever I eat out I do get effects because I didn't prepare the food. who knows about the sodium thrown in things at restarurants. so be prepared for a possible gain---and that is a big maybe---from eating out because of salt. Sometimes I have no sodium problems eating out, then I eat a meal I swear wouldn't make me gain from salt and I do :) crapshoot sometimes LOL

welcome CSH and glad to hear you are doing so well. 3 years ago I lost 14 lbs the first week then 5 lbs the second. This time although I'm eating the same, I lost only 8 lbs the first week and 3 this week-and I'm doing some PT (knee cap issues), so that's exercise twice a week. Age does has something to do with allot of things.
But at least I'm losing, even if slowly. But that 100 lbs loss for me looks wayyyyyy in the future. I've set little goals for myself== first into the 220 to wear a size 20, then Onederland, at 193 I'll wear a size 18, then out of the obese weight at 190, 179 will be a size 16, then out of the overweight mark at 160. I'm not as excited as I used to be when I hit a small goal.
Oh, I shucks, just realized that because I shrunk 2" I need to readjust all my number. Well, that will waste a few minutes of my time where I won't be eating, LOL.

So think of our bright future. Good luck with your knee.

:welcome: CHS!!! Sounds like you have it figured out! You know, everyone says, oh it's 'just' water. Well I don't care, it was pounds on my scale that are no longer there! And that's 10lbs less you're carrying around. That's what matters to me.

As for eating out, make up your mind now, no bread, dessert, or starches in general. Meat and veggies, or meat and salad. I find if I commit before hand, it's easier.

Did you know, every pound overweight equals fours pounds of pressure on your knees? I heard that when my very large brother was going for knee replacement surgery. Good with everything!!
