What's the skinny on Sugar Free Jello?

I'm just looking for a snack... I'm having to stay strict Atkins 72 induction just as before. It's working which is my 90% concern... need to keep my sanity to avoid a slip up. 19 days & counting. My scale is happy, my pants are happy.

I lived on sugar free jello with whipped cream at night. YUMMO also til I got sick of it. but I sure used it and lost also.

it's sweetened with aspartame, which affects me and many others badly. the cool thing is how easy it is to use plain gelatin with your own flavors and sweetening. and you can use part cream for the liquid too!

how about almond made with cream? or vanilla? or an orange vanilla creamsicle flavor?

you can use any softdrink as liquid too, since you can find many of them sweetened with something less odious than aspartame.

it really isn't much harder than using the jello box, and if you buy a large package of the unflavored gelatin from a place like Smart and Final that caters to small restaurants, it's VERY cheap too.

I enjoy SF Jello from time to time, it mixes up nicely with cream or cream cheese.

Something else that works is to add a little sweetener to cream cheese with a drop or two of extract, orange is my favorite, stir it together and enjoy a no muss no fuss cheesecakey treat.

I make my own with different flavors of Kool-aid, Knox unflavored gelatin and my own sweetener...seems as though jell-o brand gelatin has very few flavors - with the Kool-aid I can make many many different flavors - with homemade sugar free whipped topping you can't beat it.

I eat a dish of sugar free jello with a little cream mixed in almost every night before bed. I don't think it is causing me problems....but then everyone is different. I also use quit a lost of those new sweeteners in a squeeze bottle (MIO, Dasani, and Crystal Light) for flavouring my drinks. It make a huge psychological difference for me. I always feel badly for people when they say they can't have any sweeteners. I would say try it and see.

Hi, JustRuss! I've found that plenty of people lose while incorporating Sugar-Free JELL-O ... and just as often those experiencing weight loss standstills will see resumed losses once they extract it from the equation. It truly is a Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV) thing. Maybe give it a shot for a few days and see how it fares. Good luck!

I mix packets of sugar free jello with cream cheese muffin ingredients. Yesterday I did this and I now have sugar free peach jello cream cheese muffins.

Cream cheese muffins

2 8oz. pks. philadelphia cream cheese
1/2 cup sweetener or equivalent measure of liquid sweetner
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Soften cream cheese about 40 seconds in microwave. Add other ingredients. Beat with mixer till smooth. Pour into 12 muffin pans lined with the papers. Bake at 350 for 20 min.

They can be like mini cheesecakes.

I think the jello mix could take the place of the sweetner and flavoring.

I just logged in and saw the recipe was requested and I was going to put it down. Thank you for doing that already!

What I did this time as far as sweeteners was, 1/4 cup of caramel Torani syrup (don't have any DaVinci syrup right now), a little less than 1/4 cup of sweetener and a package of sugar free peach jello. I do enjoy mixing different flavors together. Sometimes I come up with new favorites and, yes, sometimes it ends up being flavors to not do again.

I have normally have Splenda but don't seem to have problems with a Diet Coke or Root Beer though I prefer to only have one. I keep "Tea to Go" drink mixes in my car console...
I didn't think about the sweetener in Jello... I'll be watchful going forward. Have to have something to eat.

I use jello mix in my muffins....vanilla to be exact. Eliminates the sugar sub and gives it rich flavor!

I've been eating low carb for about 6 weeks. I've lost about 20 pounds so far. Only 40 to go....

Occassionaly start jonesing for something sweet. Yesterday I had some sugar free jello with cream cheese and whipped cream mixed. Tasted fantastic! Now, I'm craving that...been craving it all day! Did I screw up?

I'm thinking I'm going to have to eat one of these desserts every day! Still feels guilty. even though it has less than 2g of carbs.

It will not hurt if you do eat one every day unless you stop losing.... the thing is, you may want / have one every day, and then wake up one day and not think about it. I go through periods like that... I'll want something sweet for a few days, then I just don't. As long as you are losing, there is no harm, no foul imo

Still having one every day....and still slowly losing, although my weight loss has drastically slowed over the last couple of weeks. Not the fault of the jello/cream though.

I see no problem eating sugar free jello. I was a big fan first time I did Atkins and lost all my weight eating it regularly. Sadly, I made myself very sick of it and haven't touched it since. That was about 10 yrs. ago.

I'm sure I'll get sick of SF jello sooner or later. I got sick of pork rinds in about 3 days! At first, when you're really hungry for a snack, those pork rinds sound good. After a few days, they are worthless. Can't stand the dryness and bland flavor, even of the spicy flavored ones. But the creaminess of SF Jello mixed with cream cheese and Cool Whip, is still mouth watering. Making myself want one now! I have quit eating the Atkins bars since I started eating the Jello, and I have started to slowly lose again. I had stalled for a couple of weeks, eating the bars.

Pork Rinds are very bland but I use a butter spray & shake cinnamon & Splenda on, which I enjoy. I eat way fewer made up like that.
I think I'm having a problem with the SF Jello Genuine & store... I suspect it might be the sweetener. I notice the mouth enzymes looking for sweets after the Jello. I've skipped a couple of days & not having this happen. The problem is this craving encourages me to eat & even if I'm on plan, it's more I'm eating. In my case, I think I should save it for special occasions like when everyone else it having birthday cake.
I am surprised my this but I have to listen to my body.

The gelatin is fine, IMO.
The pudding, for me, was a no. If I made a pack, I ate the whole thing. So I just avoid it.

The boxes of SF Jello say they make 4 servings. I usually get 2-3 servings out of one box.
