Mazola says their corn oil is healthier than EVOO

About fell out of my chair this morning when I saw a TV commercial claiming that "studies show" that Mazola Corn Oil lowers cholesterol more than extra virgin olive oil. I was so shocked, I just went to their website (in hopes that I had hallucinated it) only to find it there, as well. Scientific proof, they say! Eat more corn!!! (roll eyes) Just wondering if anybody else saw it. Reminds me of the "high fructose corn syrup is just like sugar" ads from a couple of years ago. They'll try anything...

Mazola® Corn Oil

I just saw that last night. I could not believe it! I started thinking that the message must be getting out and sales are dropping off. Hope people don't fall for it.

Just the whole "Cholesterol is Bad" is 15 years out of date. I'm so tired of PR departments being in charge of information.

I am really so sick and tired of all the blatant lies in advertising. Surely there is a special place in hell for these people who harm our health with malice aforethought. Okay, maybe that's a little strong, but jeez.......

I agree. So many are getting their health advice from corporations that are only interested in profit. I think someday, people will look back on this time and regard it as one of the dumbest points. Big business relies on repeating something often enough and it will become a truth.

I really wish the cholesterol and saturated fat myths would disappear already.

There is too much money riding on those myths that it will take a long time if ever. I recommend reading the book Salt, Sugar, & Fat, truly eye-opening and sickening.

It certainly reeks of desperation. Sad that a few will believe them. Greed seems to be the driving factor in our food system these days. All the more reason to never eat anything that has a commercial...

Their label says "Cholesterol free" and "heart healthy!" of course...........Ugh. They even released a new manufacturer's coupon yesterday--to get ready for the flood of buyers who want to grab their HEALTHY product!

I am sure the ice man fought tooth and nail when refrigeration became accessible. They just didn't have the big bucks and large platform. Good science will eventually rule

Apparently the margarine producers are scrambling now that the word is out that butter is more healthful. So one of them is starting to combine the margarine with real butter--that way they can still sell their product and convince the masses it's "healthier' that way.

Get this BS from their Facebook page regarding GMOs:

"About GMOs:
Many of you have inquired about Mazola Corn Oil and GMOs. The corn we use to produce our corn oil is derived from genetically engineered seed. During the refining process the GMO proteins are filtered out, however the oil may contain trace amounts."

So.....process it MORE to get rid of the GMO proteins?!?!
Ridiculous.
