Atkins/Stillmans

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone has tried a combination of Atkins & Stillmans. I know this may seem contradictory, but hey it might work for some?

I did an unintentional and unwitting attempt at something like this. I thought after a short period on Atkins' I could do it one better by reducing my fat. So I was eating similarly to Stillmans approach.

Result was a 2 month stall. I eventually added c.o. and stopped trying to avoid dietary fat (thanks to the excellent advice found here on lcf). That broke my stall. I went on to lose another 30lbs..

I know there are lots of people who do well on Stillmans' and I am not bashing that woe. It works for some and we are unique in that respect. It just didn't work for me.

I don't really understand what you mean about a 'combination' of Atkins and Stillman's because they are different plans. How do you intend to 'combine' them?

There was someone on the Stillman's board a while ago who ate Stillman-style (low fat) 5 days a week and then ate more 'Atkins' on the weekends. She did that because she and her husband ate out frequently on weekends, and it's almost impossible to follow Stillman's with restaurant eating. This worked for her, but it was more 'alternating' plans than combining them.
