I've finally gained portion and appetite control after practicing the fat fast. It seems to have completely renewed my attitude towards food and meals.

I still research and think about recipes like crazy, but no longer am I craving or looking forward to my next meal as a special occasion.

My nut butter habit has been mostly crushed too! certain chemical states make me go at it, but the worst that has happened so far was consuming 2-3 servings of sunbutter at midnight once a week.

That only put me at maintenance calories and 37g carbs-17g fiber.

Not a trainwreck, at all!!

Tried on some shorts today. Almost all of mine are too big. I bought a couple of pairs of 36w a couple of months ago. But those are too big. Tried on 34w today, and they actually fit, although a little on he snug side. The 36w were too large.

Yay, many of my clothes are getting loose & now I can wear a smaller size! Just closet shopping for now. Will get something new after I lose several more pounds.

Several days ago, I put on some jeans and a belt. I cinched the belt to the last hole and it was still too big. I had to use a nail to make a couple of more holes in the belt.

Good for you! Sounds like you are doing great. Portion control is still an issue with me. I used to think the "use a smaller plate theory" was silly, but for those of use who are portion-challenged, a salad plate, instead of a dinner plate, is helpful !

Today someone I've known since 2011 (never knew me at my heaviest) told me that I look more beautiful than she has ever seen me.... I have not lost significant weight since then but have bounced around the same few pounds (I don't like to say I am in maintenance but I kind of have been in the sense that I haven't lost much more weight since 2011 but I also haven't gained significantly either! ).

But, I think that my consistent low carbing and getting adequate fat in my diet has made my skin better than ever.

Went out with a bunch of friends tonight, that I haven't seen many times over the last several months. Got several comments about how much weight I had lost. It's great that people notice.

I met a couple of friends that i hadn't seen for a few months. Two immediate comments were, "Have you been sick?" and "You look wonderful!" One called later to find out what I'm eating. We talked about it, and she restated her menus. I didn't try to tell her anything, except she might want to not eat so much fruit or juice.
Two weeks after that, and wearing my smaller jeans for the first time, I saw the other friend for a few minutes. A few days ago, the second woman called to talk more seriously about what I eat. She wanted to know if I will continue eating this way. Of course I said yes, that I was generally feeling better breathing better, that I could sometimes sustain effort a bit longer. She's not quite ready to give up her toast, pastas, or her fruits and juices. But, she is using coconut oil and more meat.

I tested "moderate" ketosis this morning! I know it's a minuscule NSV but was just so affirming that I'm on the right track!!

Bluebell - great job. I swear, ketosis is wonderful. No better appetite suppressant and I get so much energy and alertness.

Emita - wow! I think I achieved that one time early on. Good job. No more commentary needed - you're blowing me out of the water! *hugs*

ETA: Clarification - this is not a competition, just a friendly salute to one of my keto-friends...

This one has not been realized yet, but I just remembered I'd always wanted to go spelunking. Def. not happening when one is overweight. I would always flash on Winnie the Pooh getting stuck in Rabbit's house when his bottom becomes too big. I can now add this to my "bucket list" once again.

It's only been six weeks and 12 pounds but I can walk up the steps without huffing and puffing. It's a huge victory. Now my kids have to clean their rooms.

Had a nice experience today. It's been like forever since I've been able to wear high heels and today I went looking for some dressy shoes at the shoe store and decided on a whim to try on some heels and OMG I was so surprised at how easily I can walk in heels! I walked in them like they were sneakers! When I was heavier my knees and back could not handle high heels but now 100 plus pounds lighter and I walk in heels with ease! So I bought 2 pair.

Depressing NSV

I bought two shirts at Coldwater Creek yesterday, both in a size M (10-12). The size twelve pants fit me too.

Then I found out that all Coldwater Creek stores are closing.........

Edited to say: WTH???? How is it that I don't lose a lb for six months, yet somehow I lose at least three inches????

yeah, me too! I noticed I was getting a bunch of positive "looks" yesterday when I was out shopping. I glanced in a mirror and noticed my skin looked amazing. I almost looked like another person, a radical difference.ink

I think sheerly cutting out sugar and alcohol has done wonders. add to that healthy fats and my skin is beaming.

I am now digging through to the bottom of my cedar chest for clothes I had not worn in forever. I kept them because they were too nice to throw away. I had a shirt I always wanted to get back into-but now it is too large. That is OK too.

This is my favorite thread, everybody, thanks so much for continuing to post all of your awesome NSVs! I am cheering for you all from Seattle. There is an experience of being overweight and of losing weight that is so specific and it's nice to be in a virtual room full of people who get it.

My recent one was I went on a second date with someone I like (I almost never like anyone enough to want to go on a second date, so in itself that was significant) And we decided to go to the lake on a beautiful afternoon. I wore a bikini for six hours with confidence with someone I was actually interested in romantically! I never would have guessed that was possible!

Again, high fives to everyone posting or reading! You are awesome!
