Holy smokes, my doctor didn't tell me no!

I had my yearly "lady" exam (ugh) on Friday. I am trying to get pregnant. My doctor and I were discussing my weight loss and eating habits and she purely said - it's working and as long as it continues to work, then more power to you. Whew! That was a good one!

And then - we were discussing how my eating habits will have to change when I do finally get pregnant and she said there really isn't a reason to change anything except to increase calories by 300 a day. She said that most doctors in her field are beginning to believe that ketosis really is fine for pregnant women and went into details about babies being in ketosis etc etc.

I about died - no really, I about died. I was so entirely prepared for a battle and full blown conversation. I have NEVER had a doctor support me or agree with what I am doing even though I have lost significant weight. It was truly amazing to feel that support.

Yes! If I would have known that I would not have gaind 65 pounds during pregnancy. I just didn't think it was a proper diet, considering food pyramid and all. Oh well. I'm happy for you.

Glad your doctor is on board. It makes things easier, though of course it's always your choice.

There are several women here who have stayed ketosis throughout pregnancy. Suzanneyea is one who talks about her experience fairly openly. She may pop in if you have a question when you're actually pregnant.

I know - I fully intended on staying in ketosis anyway it's just great to actually have support.

Wow that's great!!! Low carb would've saved me 65 pounds and 2 years of being in pain (suspected rhematoid arthritis). That's really great your doc fully supports your woe for pregnancy. Good luck to you!
