Freak of nature craves cucumbers

I don't know what's going on, but I am craving (and eating) cucumbers like mad. They taste so delicious to me! I'm such a weirdo.

I'm glad it isn't cookies or cake, though.

I too crave cucumbers and make a delicious salad with sliced cukes, onions, kalamata olives, feta, dill, EVOO and vinegar. (Before I worried about carbs I used to add grape tomatoes too). So yummy I could eat it every day.

This is my absolute favorite salad!

I crave cucumbers and go through a bunch of them in a few weeks, then I don't crave them again for several months.

I like getting firm, crunchy cucumbers at my favorite Lebanese restaurant for dipping into baba ghanoush instead of pita bread.

Guess who went shopping last night and got all the fixings for a nice Greek salad . . . . that's right, I did! I'm having it for lunch, and adding tuna for the protein.

Is that salad supposed to marinate or do you put the dressing on before serving it?

Cukes! One of my top faves!! A staple in fact. I grew some in my garden this past summer and plan on it again next summer. Wonderful pick fresh. The actually seemed quite sweet to me.

When I was little, my grandmother used to slice cucumbers, mix them with salt and mayonnaise, and serve them as a side dish with Sunday dinner. I used to think it was the greatest thing in the world, like it was some fancy recipe. Sometimes the simple things are really the best. I think I will have to make that this summer.

Of course, it was the South, and I also used to think that tomato sandwiches (tomatoes, white bread, mayonnaise) were the best sandwiches ever invented. Hey, I still think that, I just can't have them anymore.

My Nana used to make the same cucumbers for us! mayo and a little sugar. Sometimes a touch of vinegar. SO GOOD!

Southern Girl here too.

I'm going to make these cucumbers! Splenda and mayo... yum.

If you are actually craving them it could be caused by a nutritional deficiency.

Cucumbers are high in phosphorus, Vitamin C, Potassium, Magnesium, and Vitamin A. Perhaps you are low in one or more of these.

Very good point! We tend to forget about this issue and many overweight people are actually deficient in many ways.
