Are ketones important help

I can hardly figure out how to post on here. But I bought ketone strips and I am still barely showing any change in color. Why is that my carbs are under 20-25 but I do drink a lot of water and I have been eating a lot of calories 1300-1500. I am 5'3. And 148

Way back in the 90's when I first heard about and tried Atkins, I bought some keto stix. DH's were always deep purple, but mine were consistently barely pink. I still lost weight, though slower than him. Of course he was starting at more than a hundred pounds above me. The stix actually gave him a false sense of security and he tended to cheat ALOT, figuring as long as the stix were purple, he was good to go.

I lost almost 60 pounds in 2008 doing LC, but never bothered with the expense and not using them now. If you keep your carbs are that low, you'll get into ketosis. I think tracking your carbs is more useful AND FREE.

Carolyn, you probably don't want to rely on the stix as they are notorious for giving false negatives. So many issues that can cause this, like the amount of water (diluted urine), only test for one kind of ketone (there are 3), and don't reflect how you feel.

If you really want to be sure you are in ketosis, follow your plan to the 't' for a week and you should be good.

I haven't used them in a few years.... I can tell when I'm approaching ketosis and when I'm in ketosis because I FREEZE!! It's difficult for me to feel warm/comfortable.

That's per day. When I crave cheese I eat it, thinly sliced.

I agree with Cathy, too.

I stick to my plan & get great results. I've never even been tempted to test.

Well I sure don't know why I am not losing weight. I thought maybe too many calories. I will keep trucking on!
