Pumpkin seeds

So, last night we carved out our first pumpkin, and ofcourse saved the seeds! This morning, I tossed them with sea salt, roasted them in the oven on 300 and have been sort of munching on them throughout the day, probably about 1/4 cup total. Are these low carb? Did I make a mistake nibbling on these crunchy, salty seasonal faves???

I have a bag of roasted and salted pepitas right here handy. For a 1/4 cup (30g) serving its 190 calories, 15g fat (2.5 sat), 2 g carbs with 2g fiber and 11g protein. Haven't double checked those numbers in a hidden carb calculator yet but I don't hink it too far off.


Okay, just checked it and the calculator comes up with 2.75 carbs, but that's still without subtracting fiber.

If it's wrong to eat 'em then a lot of us are in trouble! My sister and I did that a few years ago. We had bags and bags of them. Love them!

The bag I have from Trader Joes calculates it at zero carbs after the fiber is subtracted. I eat them all the time and they don't make me gain weight. I just carved out three pumpkins and roasted the seeds. Now the bigger question is do you eat the whole thing, shell and all or do you take the seed out? Me, I eat the whole shebang and I make sure I chew them really good! After Halloween, I get pumpkins just for the seeds! They are cheaper after the holiday... Enjoy!

I have had pepitas before, but prefer the entire seed!!!

What's a hidden carb calculator?? Where do you find one?

I like to munch on pumpkin seeds at the movies. It fills the salty, crunchy cravings while everyone else is eating popcorn. And whether you are eating the shell or shelling them, they are hard to overeat.

I think they are just fine. Making your own insures they are just seeds, salt and whatever you put in them. They are also expensive if you buy them pre packed so you save some money.
