40 pounds down!

I've lurked for a long time, posted some, failed some. This is the first time in 2.5 years I've been really successful. I'm still really, really overweight but I'm 40 pounds less so! In my Low Carb Friends stalking I have seen a lot of people come and go. I hope my post helps a noob or 2 to not give up.

I didn't get fat overnight. It took 5.5 years to gain this 120 pounds and balloon to a size 28 from a 16. It might take that long to lose it.

This is about feeling better and being less sick and unhealthy...not losing weight. Weight loss probably will happen but it will happen in starts and fits with stalls and sudden drops and little bounces up every few days. As long as the weight trend is downward, I'm good.

Sleep. When I get decent sleep, I lose easier. When I'm not sleeping enough I overeat and don't lose. I also feel like crap so I get my sleep!

I will not lose weight the few days before or the week of my period. It is not going to happen. That is ok. Getting my period naturally at 300+ pounds with polycystic ovarian syndrome is a miracle in itself. Maintaining is my goal for that 9 days.

Planning my weekday meals is key. I am lucky and can eat the same brekky, lunch, and afternoon snack 5 days a week without complaint. It is fuel and even if it gets annoying that is ok. Not every meal has to be a gastronomic adventure. Most meals can be tweaked to be LC and if they can't, I can make scrambled eggs or quick tuna salad or lunchmeat roll ups.

LC doesn't have to be expensive. I eat simply during the week and splurge once in a while. But our grocery bill went from a consistent $120 a week to $80 or $90. It can be more cost effective if you make it. I can't afford all organic or grassfed or whatever but I've made great strides so far. I will continue to make improvements when I can.

My libido is back.

I'm not constantly struggling with joint pain, migraine, severe tummy problems, brain fog, depression, debilitating anxiety, and generally feeling awful. I feel pretty good for being 302 pounds.

Thank you all for the posts, they are a huge inspiration to me. You guys and gals rock! Don't give up. Weight loss will happen...just stay the course!

Exactly this. If only people could always give LC as long of a chance as they give potato chips and carbage. We'd have only success stories on this board of that were the case!

This is key for me as well. I plan what I'm going to eat, consume it, then get back to my day.

Congrats to you! Wishing you continued success.
