Dr. Atkins Book

Which book does everyone recommend? He has a 1992 book called Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. Is this the one that is most recommended?

Thanks!

Most will recommend either that one or the 72 version. I prefer 92 myself.

92 is waaaaaaay better than the new ones. IMO. The only major update worth noting is that they decided unsweetened almond milk is okay for induction. I personally still wouldn't add it in until the nut rung, though.

(And there's a chapter in NANY on vegetarian Atkins... which just sounds unfun if not impossible, to me. But if that's what you're after, I'm sure it's better for you than donuts.)

72 is stricter. No coffee, a smaller volume of veggies (DANDR wants you to try to get as close to 20g a day as possible in the beginning.)

Did net carbs start in DANDR? I forget. That alone would make it easier.

Stricter might sound better, but we're talking about a guy who preferred bare stone to a mattress because it was more paleo. (Met a LCer who told me this years and years ago.)

I use the 92 version. No, it didn't subtract fiber, but I do that.

There was a lot of new info found between 72 and 92. Dr Atkins authored both, so whichever you want to use, they're both good options

Did the 92 version based on suggestions from this forum...But I see a lot use 72 which is more strict...I think he may have loosened up a bit later to get more people to think the diet was doable with some convenience foods.
